Devils Elbow Recreation Area

Unfortunately this Corps of Engineers campground is closed. Every time I drive near the location, The Dyrt app pops it up for review.

Devil's elbow Recreation Area is now only a boat ramp! The campground really is closed. There is the old Gatehouse where you would stop and select your site and pay for your site that still stands just before the entrance to the campground. There are two external campsites by the Gatehouse that could probably be used for primitive camping. However you would need to pack everything in and pack it back out. There are some active geocaches back in the back of the campground. The boat ramp is very active as this is a very popular place to put in your boat.

Devils Elbow Recreation Area has a very active boat ramp and can be confusing to find.

Off Rt 68 near Lake Barkley. When you turn onto Rt 164 you go straight onto old Linton Canton Rd and just keep going.

At the front of the recreation area is the old gate house and camp host area. There used to be a campground to the left and there are geocaches if you do that.

Walking down into the old parking area and campground is sorta sad and creepy all at the same time.
