Best Campgrounds near Norway, KS

The rural landscape surrounding Norway, Kansas features a variety of municipal and state-managed camping options within a 30-mile radius. Lovewell State Park, located northwest of Norway, offers multiple campgrounds including Cedar Point, Cottonwood, and Walleye Point, with accommodations ranging from primitive tent sites to full-hookup RV pads. Seasonal considerations significantly impact camping experiences in this region. Winter camping is possible but facilities may be limited, as one camper noted at Rocky Pond: "The potable water is shut off (dump station open) during winter months." Summer brings higher occupancy rates, particularly at lakeside locations. Most municipal parks operate on a first-come, first-served basis, while state park campgrounds like those at Lovewell typically require reservations during peak season. Road access is generally good throughout the area, with most campgrounds accessible via paved roads. Cell service can be spotty, particularly at Lovewell State Park where one visitor mentioned: "We couldn't get any cell service so we had to use our imaginations and get creative."

Water access represents a defining feature of camping in the region. Lovewell State Park campers frequently mention the lake as a highlight, with one noting: "We take our kayaks with us and enjoy exploring the coves around the lake." Municipal parks often feature small ponds or lakes, with Rocky Pond described as having "nice, grassy sites right around the small lake, next to a cornfield." Amenities vary widely, with city parks typically offering electric hookups, picnic tables, and basic restrooms. Many operate on donation-based payment systems. Insect activity can be problematic near water sources, particularly at wildlife areas where one camper reported: "There were a million mosquitos because of the water flowing right beside it." Noise levels vary by location, with highway sounds noted at some roadside parks.

    Courtland City Park

    Solo Camping in City Park

The Courtland City Park has one RV spot next to a picnic shelter and essentially below the town’s water tower. The park has a playground and ball field, in addition to restrooms. The park is surrounded by a church, houses, and a grain elevator and is located about 2 blocks from the Main Street with businesses. Overall it was a fairly quiet one-night stay. While in town, you must visit Irrigation Ales Brewery!

    Airport Park Campground

    Airport park campground

No reservations, First come first serve. Pull through and back in for smaller RV/campers/Vans. Power and water at each store! Free wifi, women's and men's bathrooms, level concrete spots with picnic tables, established shad trees, and grass area at each campsite.
Dog Park and 18 hole disk golf!! Basically free for donations! Not sure if shower, it's night when we arrived.

No individual fire pit (But who cares after all that!) What a neat place after a long drive day!

    Lincoln Park

    Developed and free!

There's a check-in kiosk and each site has water and electrical. That's very unusual and I'm quite glad I came here. There's a playground for kids across the way and I don't have any kids so it's of no use to me, but it's there and you can hear kids playing in the background. Other than that, very quiet. Birds chirping.

IMPORTANT: Do not use the 4th street entrance if your vehicle is over 6,000 pounds. There's a three ton weight limit on it. Use the 8th street entrance instead as shown on my Google Maps picture.

Convenient town access: The proximity to small towns and their amenities rates highly with campers. Clean facilities: Campground cleanliness receives consistent praise. At Walleye Point Campground — Lovewell State Park, campers note "Very clean bathrooms" and at Cedar Point, a reviewer stated "The bath houses are always clean and nice facilities to use."

What you should know

Seasonal water availability: Water systems often shut down during colder months. At Rocky Pond, one winter camper reported "the potable water is shut off (dump station open)," while another noted similar conditions at Lovewell: "The bathrooms were open, however there was no running water."

Cell service limitations: Limited connectivity exists throughout the area. As one Cedar Point camper described: "We couldn't get any cell service so we had to use our imaginations and get creative, and go on lots of walks and trails."

Tips from RVers

Hookup details: Electrical service varies between campgrounds. Airport Park Campground offers "electric 50/30 and water, concrete pads are level," while at Rocky Pond "some of the spaces only had 50 amp service instead of 50 and 30."

Sewer connection positioning: Site layout affects hookup accessibility. At Rocky Pond, one RVer advised: "If you stay in the upper level, you might want to make sure you have a long sewer hose as it is quite a ways behind the trailer."

Road noise considerations: Highway proximity affects some locations. At Airport Park, one camper noted: "Only negative is road noise during the night," though others reported "Quiet both times" at the same location.
