    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Marysville City Park's five pet-friendly tent sites allow camping with dogs in a quiet, tree-filled setting with electric hookups available. Country Acres and Waterville City also accommodate pet owners with tent and RV sites. Marysville offers 30/50 amp service with water at designated pull-offs, while Village of Diller Park provides full hookups for RV campers with pets. Most campgrounds maintain standard leash policies and clean-up requirements. Big Indian Recreation Area features a lakeside trail perfect for dog walks, with multiple camping options at $5 for tent sites and $10 for electric sites. Limited trash receptacles at some locations require campers to manage pet waste carefully.

Rock Creek Station's campground connects to hiking trails with historical exhibits that allow leashed pets, creating opportunities for exercise while learning about the Pony Express and Oregon Trail. Crystal Springs Lake offers fishing opportunities with dogs welcome but swimming prohibited due to snapping turtles. Campers praise the parks for their cleanliness and quiet atmosphere, particularly Marysville with its swimming pool, tennis courts, and frisbee golf course accessible to visitors with pets. Most locations operate year-round, though some facilities close seasonally, like Marysville's bathrooms which close for winter by mid-November. Walking trails at several campgrounds provide pet exercise space within safe distances of wildlife areas.

Rocky Ford Campground — Tuttle Creek State Park

The best kept secret campground in Kansas!

When camping in Kansas you must try the Rocky Ford Campground in Tuttle State Park River Pond Area. This is a great shaded area with water views and full hookups. There are great secluded sites or sites you can camp next to friends or family. There are huge cottonwood trees that are wrapped with green vines during the summer months that guide you through the park. Make sure and put your food away at night or the raccoons will be dining at your table during the night. Site #44 is our favorite spot to hang the hammock and relax after biking or hiking the trails.

      Very nice city RV Park

The fee is based on your donation. No reservations needed but first come first served. The sites are level and have electric. Two fenced in dog parks. Close to small town. Very nice stop over point. Only negative is road noise during the night.

      River Pond State Park Campground

      Great place to stay

Lots of sites. Lots of trees. Small dog park in one corner. Many of the sites are well spread out, but even the close ones are quiet due to the trees absorbing sound. Pull throughs are not too level and services are on the wrong side so make sure your hose and electric cable are long enough. Could never connect to the WiFi. 4g signal was pretty strong. Park does need to label the roads with site numbers. I recommend arriving in daylight to find your spot, as well as researching your location beforehand.

      River Pond State Park Campground

      Nice State Park

The is a nice clean Kansas State Park. Lots of shady spots. Easy access to walking trails and water activities. Fire pits and picnic tables at every site. Most sites are only water and electric. There are only a half dozen or so full hook up sites and they are generally always full during camping season. There are two dump stations on site. This park is close to home for us and we camp here often.

    Guide to Hanover

Camping options near Hanover, Kansas include both free and low-cost sites, with most locations situated along major travel routes at elevations between 1,200 and 1,600 feet. The area experiences four distinct seasons, with summer temperatures often exceeding 90°F and winter conditions frequently dropping below freezing. Most campgrounds in the region operate year-round but may reduce services during winter months.

    What to do

Explore historical exhibits: Rock Creek Station State Historical Park offers interpretive displays about the Pony Express and Oregon Trail. "Interpretive center related to the Pony Express and Oregon Trail in the adjacent Historical Park. Paved road access to the park from both the north and the south from US HWY 136 or NE HWY 8," notes John A.

Try disc golf: Riverside Park features an 18-hole disc golf course throughout the grounds. "The reason to stay was to Frisbee golf and camp ALL weekend. They have a nice 18 hole course throughout the park," explains Jeff T.

Kayak on spring-fed lakes: Crystal Springs Lake offers non-motorized boating on three small lakes. "There are 3 small spring fed lakes that are open for fishing. No motorized boats but perfect for kayaks," reports James B.

    What campers like

Donation-based camping: Marysville City Park operates on a donation system. "We found it a bit confusing even finding the spots - so enter from S 10th Street and take the last right into the park and look for the power pedestals. Sites seem very level, offer 50/30 amp hookups along with water," advises Geo&Deb T.

Clean facilities: Chautauqua Park Campground maintains well-kept grounds and facilities. "Safe, clean, and nearly full by the time we parked early-evening on a Friday. Beatrice's website says '20 camping sites (3 pull-through)' and I would consider these to be geared toward RVs/vans, not so much toward tenting," shares Meghan B.

Value for money: The campgrounds near Hanover offer exceptional value compared to other regions. Big Indian Recreation Area provides budget-friendly options: "Dry Camping is $5 a night. Electric (30AMP) sites are $10 a night. We came out on a Thursday and got a sight(#5). The sites are gravel(white rock) and somewhat level."

    What you should know

Limited tent sites: Several campgrounds primarily accommodate RVs with fewer dedicated tent sites. "There are only two designated tent sites in this entire campground. However, both these sites are clean, beautiful, and located near the trail that takes you to the adjacent historical park," explains Alexandra J. about Rock Creek Station.

Seasonal closures: Bathroom facilities often close during winter months. "A sweet little city park in a sweet little city. Electric hookups. Water available at a central pump. Bathrooms were closed for the season Nov. 20 when I was here," notes Beth W.

Wildlife considerations: When seeking pet friendly camping near Hanover, Kansas, be aware of wildlife interactions. "The only downside to this campground is the abundance of snapping turtles you can still fish and kayak just no swimming," cautions Shaeli E. about Crystal Springs Lake.

    Tips for camping with families

Look for playgrounds: Village of Diller Park provides family-friendly amenities. "We spent the weekend at Diller RV park in June 2020. Very nice, clean, plenty of shade camp site. Diller is a very small Village with a small Main Street, which we enjoyed walking to," shares Amy C.

Consider recreational variety: Several parks offer multiple activities for different age groups. "Riverside Park has two giant playgrounds to keep the kids busy. The toilets are OK, but just what you'd expect at a public park, nothing fancy. The picnic tables are really nice molded plastic, so no splinters," mentions Lauren M.

Budget for multiple activities: Some attractions near campgrounds require additional fees. The swimming pool at Marysville charges separate admission, while state parks in Nebraska require vehicle permits purchased separately from camping fees.

    Tips from RVers

Site access details: Many sites require navigating curbs or uneven terrain. "Sites are not well marked. You have to climb the curb to get to the site, and its dirt, with some grass, and lots of nice trees," warns Michael S. about Marysville City Park.

Limited RV spots: Availability for larger rigs may be restricted at popular locations. "Limited spots with 30/50 amp are available, they are pull off as in drive over the curb and park. I did mention limited as in very few, I can't express this enough as I think I saw 3 maybe 4 spots with electric hookups," cautions Mindy.

Hookup availability: For pet friendly RV camping near Hanover, Kansas, confirm utilities before arrival. "Sites are big enough for our 38 foot 5th wheel with room to spare. Each site has 30 and 50 amp electric. Water also at each site. Picnic table is provided, we used our own fire ring," reports James B. about Crystal Springs Lake.
