While visiting Cass County, discover the best that outdoor recreation has to offer at France Park. Swimming or scuba diving in the crystal clear water of a long ago abandoned stone quarry, hiking, biking or cross country skiing the 5-7 miles of well maintained trails, fishing in Lake Trimer, camping at one of the 200 modern or primitive campsites and the 24 hole Disc Golf course are some of the many activities available.

There are over 200 wooded campsites, both primitive and electric. Primitive sites ,only, are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Modern sites can be made by reservations. 130 sites have electricity which consists of 30 amp, 50 amp and 110 Volt plug ins. Water hook up is also available for most modern sites. There is no direct sewer hook up but we do provide a dump station. We also have one Primitive Cabin. It has a bunk bed and a double bed, which sleeps four people in total. NO Dogs allowed in the Cabin. The campground has two shower houses, one newly built with private showers rooms, and several playgrounds, there is also The Old Kenith Depot Store that sells ice, groceries, fishing and camping supplies, and ice cream. Great

This campground was clean and fun! We went swimming in the lake. We also had fun trying to outsmart the raccoons that lived under the mini cabins. They were everywhere! Also if you want to drive to nearby Peru, Indiana you should check out their circus festival and youth circus! It was amazing to see these kids perform circus tricks!

    Very Clean Place

The area is extremely nice and relatively quiet. Sites are spacious and it did not feel like we were cramped in, like some campgrounds. Not many grocery stores in the immediate area, ensure you have what you need or.plan to drive in to Peru (about 25-30 min away). Internet rarely worked and Verizon coverage was extremely minimal. Brand new bathhouse was extremely nice.

    Top half of my faves

I have been to 9 other Indiana State parks, this one is in the top half. Great sites and clean. Large clean lake with beach. Lots of trails and many views. Staff is very friendly. The down side, bathrooms weren’t very clean and no one enforced noise curfew. I often stay up very late but I respectfully do so. When its after 1am and I can clearly hear you across the park, no bueno! Lol....other than that, I would definitely be back after I complete my bucketlist of Indiana State parks.

    Not easy to get to

Clean, quiet campground. No easy way to get there. Close to Indiana Beach amusement park. No major highways nearby, so the drive was kind of....strange. At one point we were on a gravel road. This used to be a Jellystone Park, so everything is laid out nice and spacious.

    A lot better now

We used to go camping here every summer when I was a kid so it brought back a little nostalgia we stayed an E567 I would stay away from these they are very muddy kind of tight to turn a 30 foot camper in but other than that Tickets To Indiana beach are $27.50 at the gate house. Laundry works amazingly have to download an app. All around great. Wish they had a better food option

    White River Campground

    Best campground ever!

I've traveled across the US and this is the best campground I've stayed in. First of all it's very clean which is surprising for Indiana. Back up to the river. Great views. Free hot showers! Quiet. Feels secluded though close to town. Good price too. Free wifi that worked so well we could both work online and stream TV! It does not get any better. Dog friendly. Nice playground for the kids. Fire circles and clean picnic tables at each site. If I lived here, I'd come here often. Great place. Walking and biking trails. Canoeing and kayaking. Historic bridge.

    White River Campground

    Clean, County Owned Park

White River Campground is a county owned park within 15 minutes small town Indiana (Cicero) complete with a small town grocery and dollar general. Within 20 minutes or Walmart and Grocery stores. Campground is divided up into A-B-C sections. A is accessible. B is full hookup with sewer and C is water/elec only and tent camping. Park next door is great for hiking, has walk bridge over river to trails, horse backing riding, high ropes course. Campground is on the white river, offers boat launching. Bathrooms are decent. Playground is newly remodeled. Laundry onsite, wood for sale, and some wifi. We found the wifi only reaches in sections A-B even though it’s advertised as reaching the entire camp. Camp office and IT support were no help.

    France Park

    Wow! Gorgeous Park!

We heard a lot of good things recently about this park. We had no idea it was so close to us too. We packed up the dogs and headed to France Park for a full day of exploring, followed by staying at a primitive campsite.

We took two vehicles since we wanted to leave one at our campsite. Some sites are clustered together, however we lucked out and got one along the fishing lake with no nearby neighbors.

The quarry, wow! It was beyond stunning and never what I expected to see in an Indiana park. We had an amazing hike, checking out the quarry. We ventured out on one more trail and saw the waterfall but headed to our site to set up camp afterwards.

Park was quiet at night for the most part. The RV area isn’t too far away and sound does travel. Lots of people drive golf carts out there. At night you can hear the major highway too, but it didn’t stop us from having a good time.

We will definitely be going back again.

    Indiana Beach Campground

    Had a great time

Campsites where larger than I expected and am used to with KOA. Very enjoyable weekend stay. We stayed in site 89 which was a pull through full hook up site with cable tv as well. The pool was quite large and clean. The KOA page states that they have a pool and splash pad area as well as mini golf. The camp ground shares its pool with the neighboring camp ground and KOA campers are allowed to cross over to use the neighboring camp grounds splash pad and golf. The mini golf was in disrepair and build over a very scummy pond and the splash pad was a bit worn down as well. My kids stayed in the pool which was quite nice. If you stay with KOA you get decently discounted tickets to Indiana Beach amusement park which we may visit in a future visit. Over all we had an enjoyable stay and would come again but we would add an additional day to visit the amusement park.

    Indiana Beach Campground

    Busy campground. Rules not enforced.

Camped here for Labor Day weekend. The koa is right next to Indiana Beach campground and we learned campers can use amenities at both sites. Koa has two nice pools (one large pool for kids and adults and smaller one for toddlers). The IB side has a large mini golf course ($8 for those > 5) and a nice arcade our boys enjoyed (also for a fee). The IB side has a very large spalsh pad, but was never open or on when we went over there. We stayed in a pull through spot with full hook up and it was mostly quiet. Quiet time is supposed to be after 11. The first night some people across from us were loud until after 1am. Reading other Google reviews it sounds like the quiet hours are not enforced and it can get very loud in the tent area. There is a nice camp store with essentials and ice cream. Lots of bathrooms around and the ones we used were clean. It was a nice weekend.
Also we had a very poor wifi signal. My husband had a hot spot from work and that was helpful. We were unable to get many channels on on tv with our antenna. If you have a satellite dish bring it.

    Tippecanoe River State Park Campground

    { (The old) Canoe Camp👍} { (now) River Tent Area👎 }

This small 10 campsite area of The Tippecanoe River State Park only has 1 water spigot & 4 vault toilets (2 men's & 2 women's) for the more adventurous campers. The main reason I like it there is that you're camping directly on the river. On one of the sites you can actually get out of your tent & throw a rock into the river.

Prior to this year (2018) this non-electric smaller area of the park WAS known as "The Canoe Camp", stipulating you must have a canoe or some kind of boat to camp here.

Now, this area is "The River Tent Area". Anyone with a tent can camp here now. I have camped there 3 times this year & had a few things happen. (All in one trip)

In the camping brochure it plainly states "No swimming" in 2 separate paragraghs. I had picked THAT weekend because there was free fishing for Indiana residents & my friend wanted to take her 2 young boys fishing & camping. We caught nothing. Probably due to the people belly flopping in the river a mere 20 ft. away.

Our day FAR from over. Some other campers that night decided to play flashlight games in ALL 10 campsites. It's not too easy getting 2 small boy's to bed while there are scary shadows being cast on all 4 sides of our tent.

The park rangers DO come around & check on things 👍 but I was getting ice in the main campground after the fishing incident & my friend, who had never camped there before, didn't feel it was her place to say anything. The reservations were in my name. Plus we packed & left 1st thing in the morning after the flashlight ordeal. ((back to work) I did call the office & inform that evening at home.

I'm worried that opening that area up to anybody with a tent wasn't a very good idea.

    Tippecanoe River State Park Campground

    Average state park

This is a North Central State Park in Indiana. Not one of the better units, but it has some charms. The mosquitos get bad in the summer, so come prepared. We camped the end of May& they were just getting going. Spring& late fall would be a good time to visit.

None of the campsites have a view of the river. Only 112 campsites in the electric side. There's a primitive tent campground by the river, with a few sites. There's also a horsemans campground, which we didn't look at. This is a well established campground& has nice shade trees in all the sites.

Get water before setting up at the water station after the small gatehouse. There's 2 sides at the dump station. In the campground there's 2 comfort stations. Station A looked like it had been totally rehabbed in the last 5 years. Everything looked nice& the showers could be turned to your preferred temperature. Cleaner than the last state park we were at for sure!

Handicap accessible sites are 109/110/111/112. There are 2 pit toilets in the campground, though I don't know why. The modern bathrooms are right across the road. Stay away from sites 73/75& 105/106. Right by the pits, with a sidewalk between them. The sites are typical state park. No privacy for most. There's gravel for your camper pad. Not dirt.

The best sites are site 1- right on the main drag, but the most private site in the place. If you enjoy watching the rigs come in& leave, this is your site! Vegetation separates you from site 2. Site 58 is the only pull through in the campground. Site 63 is also a pretty good site. All sites are not too far from the bathrooms.

For the playground, sites 2,3,4,6,&7 have direct access to a playground& you can watch your children from your site. All the interior sites by comfort station B have direct access to the playground from your site & you can watch your children from your site. Avoid if you dislike the sound of children playing.

We stayed in site 102, which is right across from bathroom A. All the outer sites are pretty good. Our site ponded water after a rain, but soaked in fast.

There's some trails that can be accessed from the campground- Trails 1,3,4&5.

All in all an average park. Nothing really special except for the river. Fishing was poor according to my husband.

Mississinewa Lake - Miami Recreation Area

    Mississinawa a nice weekend getaway

We venture up to mississinawa reservoir pretty often as it's close and nice. Friendly ataff, well jept grounds. Note not all bath houses are created equal here. One of their bath houses that is most convenient to more campsites , unless renovated this year really lacks..getting the proper temperature is difficult, it lacks descent privacy and you have to continually push a button to get water. (Can be inconvenient when rinsing soapy hair) Now the negative out of the way... it's lg enough that there's usually a site available. UNLESS it's during a special event such as their reenactment or their 4th of July celebration and fireworks. They have a descent beach w/a very nice bath house and connecting concession stand, convenience store. Plenty of roads to ride bikes on. A designated boat ramp and docks if you want to bring your boat along. Fishing is good with a fish cleaning station for campers. (Note- Asian carp are an issue here) Fire rings but I find campfires a a make it or break it...I won't camp there is they don't allow campfires. Trails for hiking. We have camped in their nice but simple cabins. But they do have an issue with raccoons. During one of our cabin stays raccoons really did a number on a window screen in an attempt to het it to our food and the staff was indifferent to the problem. Still it is a nice park/campground I'd recommend. Be alert to the weather though as this area seems to always get hit by bad storms. Happy Camping!

Crowded small campground that is not well upkept.

When we arrived the grass was almost taller than our Corgi, Kelvin. Luckily, we had brought a weed wacker and we cut the grass at the site with that. However, the facilities available at the campsite and beach area are pretty nice. Recommended for those who own boats. There is no shuttle system for kayakers that wish to float the river. No good hiking trails.

Nice state campground with full hookups!

We stay mid-week as we are retired. Full hookup site were $30 a night. Sites seem large and well maintained. All the staff that we interacted with were very friendly. We kayaked the reservoir, used the beach and fished. Finally, we hauled our bikes to the reservoir overlook and then rode them over the dam. A very relaxing trip. T- mobile cell service was 1 bar, however we had our T-mobile internet tower and got 3 bars. Slow speeds but we could still stream tv.

Clean sites, definitely seemed geared towards rv/campers but we fit in with our tent. Amazing spot for stargazing. Local trails are abundant and vary in difficulty. Family Favorite.

This is a place we visit many times a year. whether it's just for a day hike or to spend the week camping with family. Be sure to take your boat out on the lake for a relaxed time or hook up the tubes and skis and see who lasts the longest. Another favorite time to visit is when they have the Christmas contest in the summer, sites alike decorate their campers and tents with lights and blow up characters to show their enthusiasm and win the contest.

    Nice

Very nice campground. There are some spots with full hookups. Most are electric only. There are also quite a few spots that are full though so for bigger rigs that is really nice. Down side is if you don’t haul with water you better fill up at the full station when you see it cuz it gets busy. and when you are leaving there are 3 dump stations and it can get really really busy and long waits.

    Relaxing getaway

We really enjoy Mississinewa. The beach is always nice and clean and the campsites are large and accommodating for any type of camper. We’ve stayed twice over different holiday weekends and it’s been quiet and no rowdy partying which is a plus for us since we have small children. I highly recommend giving Mississinewa a try!
