    Downata has many lodging choices for your vacation! We have six cabin three vacation rentals and four yurts to rent. Our campground has forty one water power hook ups, sixteen power only hookups, seven group areas, 10 basic sites with fire pit and table and several tenting areas, six teepees and a Cowboy Hangout. Our picnic areas consist of seven day pavilions for picnic use.

    Steak & Soak Specials available year around on Friday and Saturday evening. Dinner reservations are required by 2 PM of the day of arrival to guarantee dinner. We serve dinner from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. Snack Bar open Friday from 5 pm to 9 pm and Saturday from Noon to 9 pm. Snack Bar offers hamburgers, pizza, milkshakes, and more! No reservations are required for Snack Bar purchases. We do offer breakfast by reservation on Saturday and Sunday morning. Breakfast reservations must be made the night prior to breakfast.

    Earp and James Hitching Post is a quiet, calm, lots of grass, pet friendly, and big-rig friendly RV Park located just off I-84 in Snowville, UT. We are open all season, with complimentary WiFi and full hook-ups at every site! Reservations being made for same day are almost always honored, however, there have been circumstances where a delay in entering a walk-in reservation has resulted in a space not being available. Please register with the Camp Host in the office upon arrival. Our office is open everyday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm. After hours, please call (435) 872-8273 for assistance. Our Hosts live onsite. There are two great diners in town, two gas stations, and us. Payment is not made at time of reservation. Please cancel at least 48 hours before reservation if not planning to show.

    Overview

    Malad Summit Guard Station is located 14 miles north of Malad, Idaho on Malad Pass just off I-15. The rustic one-room cabin is in a forested setting in narrow Mill Creek Drainage, and offers a secluded retreat on fenced acreage surrounded by scenic high country views. The original guard station was established in 1908, but was replaced by the existing cabin in 1934. The cabin is accessible by car when there is no snow. Guests should be prepared in snowy conditions to ski, snowshoe or snowmobile half a mile from the plowed road to reach the cabin. The guard station offers many amenities for a comfortable stay, but fewer conveniences are available in winter.

    Recreation

    The surrounding area offers a variety of recreational activities. Trails are provided for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders and off-road vehicles (Idaho OHV safety message).Anglers can fish for small brook trout in Mill Creek. Hunting for game and game birds is another popular pastime.

    Facilities

    Malad Summit Guard Station is located near Mill Creek. The cabin can sleep six people on the two bunkbeds and folding cots provided. Amenities include two bunkbeds with mattresses, a wood stove, table with bench and chairs, folding cots, a broom and dustpan, cook prep area, and sink. Electrical appliances include space heater, lights, stove/oven, and refrigerator. The mudroom is equipped with seasonal shower facilities.____Propane is provided for the water heater in the summer months.________ __A single vault toilet, campfire ring, grill, lantern post, and picnic tables are located outside the cabin.________________ Parking can accommodate up to three RVs.____________ The cabin's water is shut off late September to May.________________ Winter guests should call the Westside Ranger District to check snow conditions before reserving this cabin from November through May and for winter parking instructions/access.____Winter guests need to bring their own water. ______ Guests may find limited dishes and cookware. Bedding, towels, first aid and emergency supplies, matches, lanterns, and flashlights are not provided.________________ Guests are expected to clean the cabin and pack out their trash before leaving. Garbage bags and cleaning supplies are not available.__

    Natural Features

    The rustic single-room cabin is tucked into a deciduous and conifer forest at an elevation of around 6,000 feet. Mill Creek meanders through the site. The front porch invites guests to sit and enjoy views of the forest and possible wildlife sightings. Black bears, wolves, elk, moose, mule deer, bison, grizzly bears, mountain lions and pronghorn are some of the species native to the area (bear safety tips).

    Overview

    Curlew Campground is located just seven miles north of Snowville, Utah, and fewer than 10 miles south of Holbrook, Idaho. The campground is adjacent to Stone Reservoir in the Curlew National Grassland. It sits at an elevation of 4,700 feet.

    Recreation

    Stone Reservoir is closed to all motor crafts, boats and water crafts do to invasive spieces.The surrounding area is crisscrossed by numerous off-road vehicle trails. Horseback riding is allowed on the open range.

    Facilities

    The campground is open year-round and contains one large group site that can accommodate up to 200 people. A picnic shelter, picnic and serving tables, grills, campfire rings, drinking water spigot, cement site pad and horseshoe pits are provided. Several single sites and one triple-family campsite, are available as well. Each individual campsite is equipped with tables, campfire rings and grills. Most sites have small picnic shelters for shade. Site 14 is accessible, with a cement site pad and paved parking spur. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided. A campground host is on-site. The road within the campground is paved and parking spurs, unless otherwise noted, are gravel. Security is provided by the host and periodic patrols by the county sheriff.

    Natural Features

    The surrounding area is an open desert environment dotted with sagebrush and very few trees. The campground contains open, mowed lawns. Natural shade is very limited. Curlew National Grassland offers great areas for year-round birding. Some of the birds found in the area include Sage Thrasher, Vesper Sparrow, Brewer's Sparrow, Ash-throated Flycatcher and Scott's Oriole. Sharp-tailed grouse are best viewed in March and April. Nesters include the Ferruginous Hawk, Common Poorwill, Gray Flycatcher, Pinyon and Western Scrub-Jays, Juniper Titmouse, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Mountain Bluebird and Loggerhead Shrike. Redhead, Ring-necked duck, Canvasback and Lesser Scaup can often be seen near Stone Reservoir. Fall brings Canada and Snow geese. Wintering birds include Killdeer, Marsh Wren and song sparrows.

    Malad Summit Campground is situated next to Mill Creek, just 14 miles north of Malad, Idaho, at an elevation of 6,100 feet. Visitors enjoy hiking, horseback riding and off-road vehicle riding on the area's many trails.

    Mill Creek offers cutthroat and rainbow trout fishing. Numerous trails begin nearby, including the 12-mile multi-use Summit Trail, which connects with Farmers Canyon, East Elkhorn and Wright Creek trails. Old Canyon and South Canyon trails begin a short distance from the campground.

    Facilities

    The campground is open year-round and contains one large group site that can accommodate up to 125 people. It is equipped with large picnic tables, a serving table, a grill, a campfire ring with benches, tent pads and a gravel parking area. Single-family campsites and one double site campsite are also available within the campground. Each campsite is equipped with a table, campfire ring, and grill.Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Roads and parking spurs within the campground are gravel. Security is provided by the host and periodic patrols by the county sheriff.__

    The campground is settled in a dense forest of maple trees, which offer plentiful shade. Stately Douglas fir trees dot the landscape. The campground receives snow throughout the winter.

    Lava Hot Springs East KOA is now a year round mini vacation destination. We offer a variety of newly renovated RV patio sites, and deluxe cabins with gorgeous views of the river and countryside. Enjoy clean shower facilities located at the office, and at the east bath house/laundromat. The pavilion is a wonderful place for families to gather and eat. Pavilion amenities: gas stovetop/oven, gas bbq, sink and seating for approximately 50 people. The pavilion does not have a refrigerator. The office staff will be happy to instruct guests for extra parking while renting the pavilion. All of our RV and tent sites have fire pits, picnic tables, or tables and chairs. If planning to fish on your vacation, be sure to reserve an RV site on the river. Map reference #2-16. Fishing licenses are sold at the local Sunnyside Sinclair gas station on Hwy 30. Downtown Lava Hot Springs is only a short walk away where guests will find the World Famous Natural Hot Springs, Olympic Swimming Complex and year round Indoor Aquatic Center with Kiddie Cove.     Third Creek Group Campground is located just 12 miles northeast of Malad, Idaho, on the Weston Highway near Deep Creek Reservoir. Visitors enjoy exploring the local trail system and fishing at Deep Creek.

    Recreation

    Third Creek Trailhead is adjacent to the campground, complete with hitching racks for horses. It accesses the Oxford Peak Trail System and is open to hikers, bikers, motorcyclists and off-road vehicle users as well. Deep Creek Reservoir offers good trout, as well as boating and swimming opportunities.

    Facilities

    This group site can accommodate up to 125 people. A large picnic shelter, tables and grills are provided. There are single vault toilets and water available. Weston Highway is paved and the one-mile stretch of road to the campground is a good gravel road with easy access for RVs and trailers.

    Natural Features

    The group site lies in an open, flat area in Weston Canyon at an approximate elevation of 5,000 feet. Pines and hardwoods are scattered around the edges of the campground, which receives snow through the winter.
