      Waters Edge RV Resort

Great overnight stop with the kids!!

I’d give 4.5 stars if possible. Great location to break up the trip between Boise and Lewiston.

Lots of fun stuff to do: good swimming beach with the ability to check out canoes and kayaks (life jackets available for loan was a big deal since our 7&9 year olds forgot to pack theirs), sand volleyball, big bonfire ring near the beach, benches and picnic tables along the water access, lots of access to fishing within walking distance. Big rocks along the water that our daughter really enjoyed scrambling along, and we laid across them to watch the meteor shower.

Sites are big and easy to park our 36’ camper, easy check in, cute little store with firewood for sale. Staff were courteous and helpful.

Bathroom was clean, we didn’t use the shower.

The only thing I could complain about is that our picnic table was not in the best shape, but we swapped out for our neighbor’s since the site showed as available for the only night we were going to stay.

Boise National Forest Warm Lake Campground

A Pleasant Camping Area North of Boise, Idaho

This campsite is located east of Cascade Lake and Donnelly, Idaho. It's a scenic road to get there. The camsite we were in was dry camping with no hook-ups. The camping pad for our 27' Travel Trailer was nice and level. Each campsite had a picnic table and a firepit. There are some nice hiking trails in the vicinity. Mountain biking and horse riding is acceptable there as well. Since we had kayaks, we had a short drive to the boat ramp. There is excellent trout fishing. There is a small swim beach near the Warm Lake Lodge and Restaurant, near where the cabins are. All in all, a great stay, away from the city :-) It's a nice peaceful setting.

      Waters Edge RV Resort

      Right next to the lake!

Clean, leveled, friendly, only 1/4 mile to their downtown. Friendly and helpful staff, showers, toilets, beach area for swimming WITH lounge chairs, swimming right in front, volleyball court, dog walking trails, fire pits, horse shoe play area, etc! Only wish I was able to do laundry but coming back again! Oh and the best part, great fishing under the bridge!

Country Corners Campground & RV Park

      Nice stop for the night

The owner was very nice and accommodating to our short notice request for a tent spot. Seems it’s a family owned business and all of them were kind. The bathrooms and showers are very spacious and clean! There is a little fire pit sitting area with free wood to use and 2 bbq grills also free to use. There is a little dog run if you have pets. I think the only complaint would be noise from the highway. The tent spots are closest to the noise, but if you have an RV it may be no issue!

Boise National Forest Warm Lake Campground

      Remote and beautiful

      Warm Lake Campground

Quite a drive to this beautiful lake but apparently it is well liked by locals because it was crowded!

The water is crystal clear and fishing is popular. There is a trail that goes completely around the lake but we turned back when a snake crossed our path.

There is a tent area, rental cabins and a camper area. I had no signal, bring a map.

The forest fires were further into the forest but the smoke haze was ever present.

Country Corners Campground & RV Park

      Quiet, convenient location

We booked this location last minute, as a last stop on a long road trip. The tent sites are shaded, and even the parking is on grass. The restrooms and showers were clean. In the office building there is a game room with a table and a microwave that we used to heat up some tasty leftovers.

Boise National Forest Warm Lake Campground

      Worth the drive

Warm Lake Is BEAUTIFUL! Peaceful, dark and REMOTE.

Quite a drive to this beautiful lake but apparently it is well liked by locals because it was crowded! People fishing everywhere, people all around the lodge, trail and beach.

The water is crystal clear and fishing is popular. There is a trail that goes completely around the lake but we turned back when a snake crossed our path.

There are several options to include a group camping area, a shoreline primitive area, rental cabins and a Rec vehicle area. The lodge offers pretty much everything you could need, but considering how busy they are I would try to bring what I needed.

    Guide to Garden Valley

Cabin accommodations near Garden Valley, Idaho sit at elevations between 3,000-5,000 feet in the Boise National Forest. These rustic lodging options experience temperature swings of 40+ degrees between day and night in summer months, requiring proper preparation. Cabin rental availability varies significantly by season, with many properties only accessible during summer and early fall months.

    What to do

River recreation access: The South Fork of the Payette River offers easy access from several cabin locations. At Silver Creek Plunge, campers note "there are plenty of campsites along the river" and that "there is a lot of ATV activity" in the surrounding area, making it a hub for both water and off-road enthusiasts.

Hot spring soaking: Natural hot springs near cabin sites provide year-round relaxation opportunities. Multiple primitive soaking pools maintain temperatures between 95-105°F. The Boiling Springs Cabin area is particularly known for this feature, with campers calling it "secluded and very much relaxing."

Trail access: Cabins serve as basecamp for extensive trail networks. At Deadwood Lookout Rec Cabin, visitors mention "quiet, nicely spaced sites" that connect to multiple hiking routes ranging from 1-8 miles in length, suitable for day hikes or longer backpacking trips.

    What campers like

Riverside locations: Many cabins offer direct water access. At Waters Edge RV Resort, a camper noted they have a "beach area for swimming WITH lounge chairs" and "great fishing under the bridge" within walking distance of the cabins.

Winter accessibility: Some Garden Valley cabins remain open during colder months. Several maintain plowed access roads after snowfall. One camper at Waters Edge mentioned "if our rig was good in the snow, we would be up there every month" because of the beautiful winter views.

Kitchen variations: Cabin cooking facilities range from basic to complete. Country Corners Campground & RV Park cabins feature "supply store" access on-site, while others require bringing all cooking equipment. A visitor noted "we walked to the little cafe down the street and had a nice country breakfast" as an alternative option.

    What you should know

Reservation timing: Book Garden Valley cabins 6-9 months in advance for summer weekends. Most fill completely between June and August. Waters Edge RV Resort operates "May 1 to Oct 15" with limited shoulder-season availability.

Bathroom facilities: Toilet access varies widely between cabin properties. Many use vault toilets or outdoor facilities. One camper at Arrowhead RV Park appreciated that "very friendly and helpful staff" assisted with all amenity questions during check-in.

Seasonal road conditions: Forest Service roads to remote cabins can become impassable after rainfall. Clear Creek Station visitors reported "no one around" during off-peak times, suggesting reduced services and limited support during shoulder seasons.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several cabin locations maintain children's play areas. Arrowhead RV Park provides "fun REC for kids, playground, and party fire pit area" according to visitors, though they noted "individual spots were extremely tight" for larger family setups.

Swimming options: Safe water entry points exist at multiple riverside cabin locations. Waters Edge was described as a "family oriented destination" with "big group fun" potential due to its swimming area and common spaces.

Wildlife viewing: Families can spot deer, elk, and various bird species from cabin porches. One Waters Edge visitor mentioned "great walking paths to view all kinds of wildlife along the river," making it ideal for nature observation with children.

    Tips from RVers

Site spacing concerns: Many cabin areas have limited parking for large vehicles. Arrowhead RV Park campers noted an "employee had to help us park" due to tight conditions, though they ultimately had a positive experience.

Winter considerations: Extended-stay cabins near Garden Valley require special preparation for cold weather. A Waters Edge camper mentioned "our pipes froze the last night" during an October stay, highlighting the need for winterization even in fall months.

Access road width: Forest service roads leading to remote cabins often lack sufficient width for large rigs. Clear Creek Station cabins provide a better option for larger vehicles, with full electric hookups, water access, and sewer connections despite being described as "rough around the edges but great for an overnight stay."
