Best RV Parks & Resorts near Forsyth, GA

Several RV parks operate within 30 miles of Forsyth, Georgia, providing full hookup sites for various rig sizes. Twin Oaks RV Park in Elko features spacious sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, accommodating larger motorhomes with its big-rig friendly design. "The RV sites are nice with limestone pads. I was able to park my 45 ft. Motorhome and Jeep toad without unhooking," noted one visitor about a nearby park. Fair Harbor RV Park in Perry maintains 280 sites with both 50-amp and 30-amp electrical service, while Scenic Mountain RV Park in Milledgeville offers pull-through RV pads suitable for larger vehicles. Interstate RV Park in Byron provides basic amenities including water and electric hookups on sites that can accommodate larger rigs.

Navigation into some parks requires careful maneuvering, particularly for longer motorhomes. One camper described a challenging entrance at Forsyth KOA: "The left turn into the park is like a tight u-turn in which there is a huge ditch or drop off that you can't make without the rear of the RV dropping into this ditch." Site leveling varies across the region, with several parks featuring gravel or limestone pads rather than concrete. Most RV parks in the area remain open year-round, though reservations are recommended during fall and spring seasons. Dump stations are available at many locations including Safe Haven RV Park and Atlanta South RV Resort, while pet policies generally allow animals with some restrictions. Cell service quality fluctuates throughout the region, with several reviewers noting connectivity challenges at certain parks.

    Perry Ponderosa RV Park

    Safe, well kept campground

My husband and I choose to stay here when in the Macon area. Stayed 3+ months in lot 57, 2 weeks in lot 45 and 1 week in lot 14. Wonderful owners that live on-site. There are several full time campers but never any riffraff. Lots of room for dog's to walk and run their humans. Propane fill station, WiFi, laundry room, shower house, bathroom's and a small playground. Easily accessible right off the highway, level sites, 30 & 50 Amp, Water & Sewer and many pull through sites. A pool would make it 5 stars for me 😀

Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground

    One of the BEST!

We were back at HLC this past weekend and, as always, top-notch park! We have tent camped for several years but recently upgraded to a new (to us) pop up and we had a blast!

We camped at site 26 (one of the newer sites) and it had full hookup (our PUP does not have a bathroom but does have a galley). The site has electric (50 amp and 30 amp service) as well as free cable TV!!

The sites at HLC are well spaced and the bath houses are spotless!!

The park staff is amazing and the camp hosts are always cleaning up and are available if you need anything!

HLC is our go-to spot for a weekend getaway because of the above-mentioned reasons and it is close to home!!

    Arrowhead Park

    Local family fun

I have lived in and around Bibb County, Georgia most of my life and I have always enjoyed going to Tobesofkee Recreation Parks. There were four parks but one was shut down (Flintrock Park). I believe the park was built back in the 60’s. Early morning on Mother’s Day of 2008 a tornado came through leaving destruction to all three parks. The campground bathhouse’s saved around 50 people that were camping when the tornado came ripping through destroying campers, cars and trees. The county has rebuilt the three parks and each one offers a little something different. It’s pretty great place in my opinion.

Claystone Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, large beach, playground, water sports, boat ramps, fishing, disc golf, several small pavilions, one large enclosed pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park and camping. The campground has 45 sites, some tents, back-ups and pull through. Not sure about tents sites but all camper sites have 20/30/50 amp service, water and poor cable service. There are a few sites with sewer. The campground does have a nice bathhouse with coin operated laundry.

Sandy Beach Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, large beach, water sports, fishing, several small pavilions, one large open pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park and a water park.

Arrowhead Park: Lake Tobesofkee access, small beach, water sports, fishing, several small pavilions, one large open pavilion, numerous picnic tables throughout the park, mountain bike trail, playground, boat ramps and camping. The campground has 58 sites, some tents, back-ups and pull through. Not sure about tents sites but all camper sites have 20/30/50 amp service and water; no cable. There are a few sites with sewer. The campground does have two nice bathhouse with coin operated laundry.

    High Falls State Park Campground

    Beautiful

The park is gorgeous and well maintained. It’s a little tight in a place or two but we’re pulling a 40’ fifth wheel and had no problems. We stayed in spot 71 which was a pull through with large lot that was really nice. Fire pit, picnic table and grill as well. I’m uploading a set of maps. You definitely need them as the sites are marked nicely but the areas are not and it’s very confusing. Also if you use maps on a device make sure you add campground because there are a few other places you don’t want to go pulling a rig since the campground is in a state park. Great for hiking, biking, fishing etc. Plain on zero internet or cell coverage. I’m all about the camping adventure but I like to be able to contact the kids if needed. Overall great place.

    High Falls State Park Campground

    Falls

Went to High Falls State Park in January. site number 27. We stayed 8 nights There are two campgrounds- lakeside and River camping area. Lakeside is by High falls Lake and is closest to the falls. River camping is across the street we stayed in River camping area. Nice sites but open to neighbors. Sites included table, fire ring, lantern hook. Some sites are 30 amp some 50 amp and had some pull through sites. After the weekend we were one of only a few in the campground in January. Weather may change this time of year we had a lot of rain one day and freezing temperatures overnight but mostly it was good camping weather. Camp hosts were awesome!!! This park is not far off i-75. Dollar general was a few miles other than that not much around. Very easy hiking trail to waterfalls and several trails along Towaliga River, ruins of an old Mill. There is no swimming in falls or river. Afterr rain falls were flowing very fast. This park also has a swimming pool, mini golf, yurts, boat rentals all were closed in January. Bathhouses were well maintained and had laundry facilities. Phone and TV reception we're good at this park. 8 days was too much here I would recommend 4 to 5 days or as a stopover point but would definitely return here.

    Big Country Camping

    Peaceful, Quiet, Large Campsites

Very nice owners. Very quiet and peaceful location. I had a full hookup site. Owners helped me get situated. Loaned me a water hose.  Felt very safe here. Beautiful sunrise. Excellent cell signal which is important since I work remotely from my camper.

Guide to Forsyth

RV sites near Forsyth, Georgia typically experience humid subtropical climate with hot summers reaching 90°F and mild winters rarely dropping below freezing. The region sits at approximately 700 feet elevation in the Piedmont plateau, creating varied terrain for camping opportunities. Most campgrounds remain open year-round with peak occupancy during spring and fall when temperatures are most comfortable.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Several ponds offer fishing without requiring a license at Scenic Mountain RV Park in Milledgeville. "We hiked the trails around the ponds and caught a few bass," reports one visitor. The park features multiple small ponds stocked with fish.

Visit local attractions: Twin Oaks RV Park serves as a convenient base for exploring regional sites. "Perfect location to stop on the way from our home north of Atlanta to Flagler Beach," notes one camper. The park's central location provides easy access to Georgia's middle region attractions.

Family recreation: Playground facilities offer activities for children at several parks. "Our 1, 3 and 5 year Olds loved the playground. We were the only ones on it and it is in great shape," mentioned a Twin Oaks visitor. Most campgrounds with playgrounds maintain them for year-round use.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Safe Haven RV Park receives praise for its well-maintained amenities. "The spacious shower had good hot water and great water pressure. And several coin laundry machines which we did not use," noted one reviewer. The bathhouse contains two full bathrooms with shower, toilet, and sink.

Spacious sites: Many RV parks provide ample room between sites despite compact layouts. At Savage Creek RV Park, "People were very friendly and the owners were fantastic! Easy parking and plenty of room for additional vehicles in your spot if needed." The newer park features larger than average sites.

Pet amenities: Dog parks and pet-friendly policies make traveling with animals easier. "There was a fenced in dog area which was really nice for those of us traveling with pets," reports a Twin Oaks visitor. Some parks like Savage Creek also offer small walking trails suitable for dog exercise.

What you should know

Reservation systems vary: Many smaller parks require phone calls rather than online booking. At Fair Harbor RV Park, "There are 280 sites, & over 100 are pull-thrus. Amenities: camp store, playground, pond, WiFi, cable, laundry, bathrooms, shed/storage, etc."

Campground demographics: Some parks maintain a mix of travelers and long-term residents. "It seems like this park is half long term folks and half overnighters," reports one Twin Oaks visitor. At Interstate RV Park, another camper noted, "Decent park, mostly full-timers in here."

WiFi reliability: Internet access varies significantly between parks. One camper at Twin Oaks described, "Wi-Fi is better than average near office, at least while others are not trying to stream video or something else bandwidth hungry." Some parks offer limited data with paid options for heavier usage.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Perry Ponderosa RV Park offers family-friendly amenities but lacks certain features. "A pool would make it 5 stars for me," notes one long-term camper who otherwise enjoyed the facilities. Several other parks in the region do provide swimming pools during warmer months.

Kid-friendly activities: Scenic Mountain RV Park includes multiple recreation options. "Clean site, kids play area, pool, volleyball, horseshoe, fishing. Good spot for a quick stay, or extended," reports a visitor. The combination of activities helps keep children entertained.

Seasonal events: Some campgrounds host special events during holidays. At Heart of Georgia RV Park, "They also did a 4th of July get together for the local community and had blow up rides, a dj, food and fireworks." Check with individual parks about scheduled activities during your stay.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: RV sites show variable leveling quality throughout the region. A Perry Ponderosa visitor noted, "My spot was only off level by 1 inch left to right so leveling and stabilizing were a breeze! Hard packed gravel and well maintained grass medians between sites."

Hookup positioning: Some parks have unusual utility placement. At Interstate RV Park, "Our spot had an elevated sewer hook up which made dumping the tanks a challenge." Bring additional hose length and supporting equipment to accommodate these variations.

Late arrival procedures: Many parks accommodate after-hours check-ins. "We received an email the day before confirming our reservation and to call if we weren't in by 6pm. Our arrival was at 9 so the early call left our check-in info posted and easily obtained upon arrival," explains a Twin Oaks visitor. Call ahead when planning evening arrivals.
