    One with Nature Glamp Camp

    Awesome Getaway in the City

This is a cute eclectic glamping ground that has a lot of character. There are 2 bell tents in the area. One setup with a king bed and the other a twin bed. The amenities are mind blowing…….top tier linens, mobile power units, lighting, movie projector, movie speaker and yes a wood burning stove in your tent. There is an outdoor shower, port-a-potties and sanitary wipes to handle business. Their indoor bathroom facility is under construction. This place is awesome! Get in before the prices go up☝️

Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground

    Stunning Cabin!

Nicest state park cabin I’ve never stayed in! The furnishings were beautiful and the screened porch was amazing. I really appreciated that the bedding and towels were plush and extremely comfortable-very unlike most state parks or other rental cabins. It was also impeccably clean, AND the bathrooms had handcrafted local soaps!

As a side note, my husband is a wheelchair user and this was the most accessible vacation rental we’ve ever encountered (and we travel a lot). The picnic table had a seat cutout, the fire pit and grill were on a level surface, and the kitchen sink was roll under! 10/10 thank you HLC for the thoughtful attention to accessibility.

    Stone Mountain Park Campground

    Extraordinary Attractions

Stone Mountain hardly needs another glowing review, but it is a pleasure to stay there. First, everything is contained and available. The views of the lake, and, yes, the mountain are gorgeous. There is a nice spacious check-in store. Your trash is picked up constantly from your site. Each site has a deck, a grill with a propane tank already attached, a picnic table, and a fire pit, electric and sewer hook ups. The sites are close together, but the decks are pretty private. If you bike, hike, run or like trails, boating and fishing, all are right there. It helps to have a car/truck, as the place is pretty immense, but my neighbors had a Class C and were throughly enjoying mountain biking to everything. Another neighbor with a gorgeous Class A was driving his towed truck to a neighboring Petco. There is everything. Deer roam in the morning and at night, and if golf is your sport of choice, Stone Mountain has a highly rated public course. The staff is very friendly. I liked the purple area near the playground and pool. The sites seemed a little more private. It’s not cheap, and I don’t know what discounts might be available. But, if you’re in or around Atlanta, this is the place to go. It will NOT disappoint.

    Chattahoochee Bend State Park Campground

Cabins are definitely the highlight here!

The primitive sites (for tents) were a bit close and not as private as I like.

They offer platform camping and those sites seem a bit more secluded (and are in a separate area from the tent sites).

There are 4 cabins available to reserve and they have great amenities (running water, electricity)

We looked at them once there and think next time we will do this with the kids.

2 rangers live in the park full time and there is a large welcome center/ gift shop with basics for sale should you forget anything.

    Dames Ferry State Park Campground

    Great Park!!

We stayed in site #16. I gave it 4 stars just because of the road noise

    Pros:

    • Spectacular view of the lake
    • Clean bathhouse
    • Site is partially fenced and the pad is level.
    • Very friendly host
    • Not far from hiking trails in
    • Cell phone service (spotty in the campground. 4+ bars on the site with t-mobile)
    • Plenty of room for chairs, gear and a fence for the dogs
    • Firepit down by the lake
    • Easy to get kayaks into the water
    • 20 minutes from major retailers (Lowes, Walmart, etc.)

    Cons :

    • Not a lot of shade covering our site
    • Road noise as others have stated. Not a deal breaker. There are grooves on the shoulder of the road and when you drive over them it makes an annoying sound
    • Site is closer to others than I care to be
    • Quiet, but it's winter. I imagine it's more active in the summer
    • I'm not sure about the quality of the water. There is a GA Power plant close by and I read an article about possible contamination from the smoke stacks. Do your research.

Overall we had a great experience and we would definitely come back again. Many of the sites are on the lake and I haven't seen one I would not stay in. They do have some construction going on near the dump station. Whatever they're doing they're quiet about it.

    Chattahoochee Bend State Park Campground

    You won't be disappointed

Chattahoochee Bend state park is located about 30 minutes west of Newnan, GA. It's located on the Chattahoochee river and is a surprisingly large area. The park has a number of trails for hiking and mountain biking. There are cabins and tent camping sites separate from the rv sites. Rv camping area has large, level gravel sites with water, 30/50 amp electric and cable. Two dump stations help eliminate waiting in long lines when you're ready to hit the road again. Bath house looks like new and is well cared for. On site host is keeping the place in tip top shape. We'll definitely be returning to this park. Highly recommended. Only negative - no cell service while we were there.

Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground

    Great Camping

This was our first trip to this park. I like the site specific reservation. Much more relaxed arrival and no creepy stalking from upcoming campers. The welcome center staff was very nice and helpful when needed. However, I almost didn't have firewood the first night because I didn't know you had to purchase it from the welcome center and they close at 4 or 5 pm. Also, their firewood bundles only lasted about an hour each at best ($6+ each). Our campsite was great! Secluded and a great view. Another slight negative in my book is the lake isn't anywhere near the campground. You have to leave the campground traveling along 3-4 roads/turns. The bath house was clean, new, and ada accessible. Oh vet important to note there is no cell service at your site. However, near the welcome center does have free wifi, but you have to be pretty close.

Franklin D Roosevelt State Park Campground

    Great Spring Trip

Booked a couple of adjacent sites to explore the area with friends. The State Park is very well maintained, sites offered enough privacy, bathhouse was very clean, and the weather couldn’t have been better. Visited the Little White House State Historic site and enjoyed the Wild Safari and some good B-B-Q.

Guide to Hampton

Glamping sites near Hampton, Georgia offer lodging between tent camping and full cabins with various amenities and comfort levels. Camping facilities throughout the area provide access to several lakes and hiking trails within an hour's drive of Atlanta. Most locations maintain campsites year-round with seasonal availability for certain activities and amenities.

What to do

Hiking trails: Hard Labor Creek State Park features well-maintained trails suitable for various skill levels. "The park has nice hiking trails and bikes trails, dog friendly," notes Winston M. The park offers both mountain biking and hiking opportunities with clearly marked paths.

Kayaking on lakes: Dames Ferry State Park provides excellent water access with crystal clear water. "We kayaked and chilled at our site by the water for 5 nights. A true r&r get away," says Melissa H. The lake restricts motors to 25hp, creating a peaceful environment without loud motorboats.

Mini-golf and swimming: Franklin D Roosevelt State Park Campground offers recreational activities beyond hiking. "They have a lot of stuff to do there. We fished and swam, they also had a scavenger hunt that my kids loved doing," explains Joshua H. The park includes a pool, fishing opportunities, and organized activities for families.

Historical sites exploration: Visiting mill ruins provides educational opportunities at Sweetwater Creek. "Manchester Mill Ruins" are worth seeing according to Mike K., who notes the park also offers "good fishing on three lakes." These historical attractions add cultural interest to natural exploration.

What campers like

Private outdoor spaces: Indian Springs State Park Campground offers a combination of natural setting with comfortable accommodations. "The cabins were updated and very cute perfect for a weekend away," says Casey L. Sites provide enough room for campers who want privacy while maintaining access to shared amenities.

Lake views and water access: Many campsites at Dames Ferry State Park Campground sit directly on Lake Juliette. "90% of the spots are right on the beautiful crystal clear lake. We launched our kayaks and swam from our sight so easy and convenient," reports Chad H. The lakefront locations allow campers to enjoy water activities without relocating equipment.

Clean facilities: Multiple campgrounds maintain their comfort stations regularly. At High Falls State Park Campground, Jim R. mentions, "Restrooms and shower were always clean!" This attention to cleanliness extends across most glamping facilities in the Hampton area.

Secluded environment: For those seeking more isolation, Atlanta Glamping provides a retreat from urban surroundings. "Lots of quality quiet time short walk to Arabia Mountain part hiking fishing and bike riding," writes Eric G., who describes it as a "gem so close to Atlanta."

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most glamping sites require advance booking, especially during peak seasons. The site-specific reservation system at Hard Labor Creek State Park allows campers to select particular spots. "This is VERY useful if you're familiar with the campground and have a favorite site but it can be a shot in the dark if you're not familiar with the campground," explains George & Patty C.

Seasonal considerations: While campgrounds operate year-round, some activities have limited availability outside summer months. At Stone Mountain Park, renovations occasionally affect certain areas but "this did not impede any traffic or fun," according to Harvey B.

Water quality alerts: Some locations have restrictions on swimming due to natural conditions. Tatiana Reinheimer A. notes about High Falls State Park: "swimming is not allowed but there is a pool, it cost $5 person." Similarly, Savannah W. mentions, "entering the water was prohibited due to leaches."

Noise factors: Road proximity affects some camping experiences. Jenny P. warns about Dames Ferry State Park: "The road noice in the far loop is horrible, all night long!! I didn't realize it was so close to the road! There are 18 wheelers for the nearby rock plant that run at all hours and they are loud!!"

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly campgrounds: High Falls State Park Campground receives positive reviews for family camping. "This campground is great if you have kids. The playground is centrally located. Trails are easy to get to," shares Bille W. The layout allows parents to monitor children while enjoying campsite activities.

Site selection for groups: Some campgrounds better accommodate multiple families camping together. Valerie R. describes High Falls as having "smaller sites without many trees/privacy between sites - good for multi-site group's who want to camp together." This configuration works well for family reunions or friend gatherings.

Activity planning: Schedule water activities during warmer months and hiking during cooler times. "We enjoyed renting a double kayak from the state park," mentions Elaine H., demonstrating the family-friendly rental options available at many locations.

Safety considerations: Parents should note swimming restrictions at certain parks. Valerie R. advises, "do not swim in falls - dangerous" at High Falls State Park. Alternatives like pools offer safer water experiences for families with young children.

Tips from RVers

Leveling preparation: Stone Mountain Park Campground requires some site preparation according to Susan K.: "The only downfall was that the trailer needed a lot of leveling. But it was totally worth it." Bringing leveling blocks helps ensure a comfortable stay.

Hookup verification: Call ahead to confirm what utilities each site includes. Maethea R. shares this experience: "We paid for a deluxe site but nothing indicated on the reservation it had sewer connections. Had we known we would have taken showers in our own camper."

Access route planning: Following designated campground routes prevents problems with oversized vehicles. At Hard Labor Creek State Park, Debbie K. advises, "Be careful and follow the Campground signs and not your GPS because you might come in a different way and have to navigate an overpass that, for some rigs, is too short!"
