RangerCabins have great views with a back porch over the bluffs (with a nice sunset vantage point). Bunk beds are fine (mattresses not that great) and plenty of space inside with extras that make them really convenient (fridge, microwave, good heating). There’s about a 6-mile loop trail overlooking the river that will provide a good workout. The recreation area down by the river is expansive enough for folks to spread out. Here in March it’s too chilly for swimming, but would likely be a nice escape in the summer. Would definitely return.

Water/power, fire pit, picnic tables on gravel sites with some pull thru. Satellite tv can be received at some sites. Showers/bathrooms with laundry facility at each. And several trails to walk you dog.

TravelerStone Mountain hardly needs another glowing review, but it is a pleasure to stay there. First, everything is contained and available. The views of the lake, and, yes, the mountain are gorgeous. There is a nice spacious check-in store. Your trash is picked up constantly from your site. Each site has a deck, a grill with a propane tank already attached, a picnic table, and a fire pit, electric and sewer hook ups. The sites are close together, but the decks are pretty private. If you bike, hike, run or like trails, boating and fishing, all are right there. It helps to have a car/truck, as the place is pretty immense, but my neighbors had a Class C and were throughly enjoying mountain biking to everything. Another neighbor with a gorgeous Class A was driving his towed truck to a neighboring Petco. There is everything. Deer roam in the morning and at night, and if golf is your sport of choice, Stone Mountain has a highly rated public course. The staff is very friendly. I liked the purple area near the playground and pool. The sites seemed a little more private. It’s not cheap, and I don’t know what discounts might be available. But, if you’re in or around Atlanta, this is the place to go. It will NOT disappoint.
LegendSprewell Bluff Park is about 50 miles south of Atlanta on the Flint River. The campground is small, tent & RV sites starting at $35/night with 30/50 amp electric, water, fire ring, and picnic tables. Most are back in. There is a showroom/bathroom. There are also cabins. The trading post has a variety of camping items and souvenirs. This is primarily a a fisherman’s Park. There is some canoeing and hiking, and a new playground. A boat ramp was added recently. It is somewhat difficult to get here.

Bathroom facilities were very clean, with showers and laundry. Placed well around the campground. Playground but not opened at this time. Lots of hiking trails, pool, can rent canoes and paddle boats on the lake. Dog friendly. Close to Calloway Gardens and little town of Pine Mountain.
ScoutStaff is great and his campground allows campfires. Pet friendly with two dog parks. Great pool and has cabins and yurts to reserve. Less than three miles from Callaway Gardens and FDR Park. Town of Pine Mountain...two street lights...very quaint sidewalk shops! This place is a hidden treasure.

RangerWe stayed at FDR state park for 4 nights and it was a beautiful park with great hosts and great campsites! Bath houses were well-maintained and sites not on top of each other like some other places. They have horseback riding stables and kayaks for rent (but COVID is not allowing rentals). We took our kayaks and used them in Lake Delanor. Our campsite was #312 and it accommodated our 22 ft camper well, had an additional large tent pad, a fire ring and picnic table. We were located next to a group pavilion which we utilized when the rains came down. For dog owners like us, a big green grassy area was located behind our site to walk our 4-legged kids. Totally enjoyable experience and would love to return to backcountry camp and do some trails.
