Best Cabin Camping near Chromo, CO

Rustic cabins near Chromo provide overnight shelter with varying levels of amenities. The Last Resort RV Park & Campground offers a small cabin called the Bunk House with a queen bed and electricity. Pagosa Riverside Campground features cabin accommodations with access to the San Juan River for fishing. Elwood Cabin, located at higher elevation, includes two bunk beds, a two-burner propane stove, propane lights, and a fireplace with plenty of firewood. "A small cabin with 2 bunk beds, two burner propane stove a few propane lights, an outhouse and plenty of firewood for the fireplace! Also has an outdoor fire pit and good views."

Cabin options in the region range from basic shelters to more comfortable accommodations with electricity and heating. Pagosa Springs RV Park & Cabins and Bruce Spruce Ranch both offer cabin rentals as alternatives to tent or RV camping. Most locations require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when tourism peaks. Pet policies vary by location, with many campgrounds allowing pets in cabin areas. One visitor noted, "The Bunk House is a small cabin with a queen bed and electricity," highlighting the straightforward accommodations available at The Last Resort.

Most cabins provide basic furnishings but require guests to bring their own bedding, food, and personal items. Cooking facilities vary significantly between properties—some offer propane stoves while others provide only outdoor fire pits with grates. Firewood is often available for purchase at campground offices or included with the cabin rental. The Fitton Guard Station Cabin exemplifies the self-sufficient nature of these accommodations, where previous campers often leave behind practical supplies. As one camper described it: "The cabin is filled with four bunks beds, a good wood stove, and oil, paper towels, and bottles of stream water for boiling, all left by previous campers."

The Last Resort RV Park & Campground

Beautiful views and a relaxing environment.

The Last Resort is a lovely RV Park and campground on the Blanco River off Highway 84 between Chama, New Mexico and Pagosa Springs, Colorado. There are full RV hook ups in the loop and partial hook up by the river. The Bunk House is a small cabin with a queen bed and electricity. Many great tent camping sites. There is a nice Bathhouse with a full kitchen, bathrooms with showers and a coin operated washer/dryer. They are open year round, free wifi and pets welcome. There is a small store with ice, sodas, snacks, fishing tackle, RV supplies, and toiletries.

This is our 3rd summer at the Last Resort. It's a very laid back place with 2 playgrounds and plenty of activities for kids - horse shoes, volleyball, tether ball, etc. They have a nice 4th of July celebration, potluck dinners and camp fires. There are often horses (and a goat) on the property and plenty of space to take a nice walk. This year, we saw a lot of Canada geese and there are also chickens and ducks. We really love watching the many hummingbirds and hanging out by the river. Lots of campers like to fish or float down the river on inner tubes.

Well maintained, beautiful and friendly hosts make for a wonderful place to stay.

South Fork Lodge & RV Park

Gravel pit, no bathroom, no amenities, ATV heavy

This is been one of my least favorite spots to stay thus far. This park has no bathrooms, no laundry, no fire pits… Nothing but a picnic table. It is fully gravel, sites weren’t level, and very loud early mornings with all of the ATV activity. I think it is far too expensive for the stay. The staff is nice, and it’s family owned—but everything else, including the location pretty much sucked. I really think it’s worth it to find another park around the area to stay.

We had full hook ups. WiFi didn’t work and no Phone service.

    Larger RV Park

This is a larger RV Park. They provide full hookups, spaces for tent camping, and some small cottages. I have not used their restrooms, but the laundry is clean and reasonably priced. Many of the spaces are pretty close together, but we’ve had worse! They have nice picnic tables and fire pits. There is a creek that runs behind the park and the spaces along this creek cost more. We stayed in Space 20; which is supposed to have the creek behind it (so we paid more), but there’s a bunch of electrical boxes there so you can’t see it or access it and there’s also a huge manhole sticking up in our space! So don’t take Space 20 unless you are desperate! That is the reason for my 4 rating. The grass is sparse, but there are big grassy areas throughout the park. Some of the spaces have the shade of large trees. I would stay here again, but would avoid #20.

    Fitton Guard Station Cabin

    Proposal Spot

I proposed to my fiancé here. You can hike or OHV about a mile to the old ranger cabin in the bowl of a green valley. Cattle graze around the cabin and marmots dig around. The cabin is filled with four bunks beds, a good wood stove, and oil, paper towels, and bottles of stream water for boiling, all left by previous campers. There's a fire ring and makeshift bench outside, and the whole thing is ringed by a wooden fence. Worth the price, a very peaceful place.

South Fork Lodge & RV Park

    Cutest Cabin Ever!

This place was magical. It was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary! Only an hour from the Sand Dunes, 45 min from Creede, and close to Three Barrel Brewing Co!

The cabin was perfect, full bathroom, half kitchen, and plenty of sweetness that makes you feel cozy!

Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins

    Not my favorite

Good location, excellent WiFi, good staff! Full hookups and trees/ shade. Lots of options to stay—cabins, RVs, etc.

After having traveled to many RV parks over the past few months there were some things I really disliked. People were walking through our site constantly and in droves.. between our rig and tow vehicle, in front of our RV door, behind our rv with all our hookups and equipment. I hated the lack of privacy and the fear that folks would step on our hooks ups, etc. even when I was outside stretching and doing yoga, folks piled on through, it was uncomfortable and a very weird culture. We kept asking folks to walk around, but it literally happened every few minutes with adults, children, groups.. we eventually gave up. That weird taboo-ish rv culture continued in many aspects throughout our stay.

The bathrooms had two shower stalls and showers for each sex—nothing for non-binary folks. This did not meet the needs of the entire camp ground—and they were closed as the office was closed (all night into the morning). Bathrooms are not ADA accessible nor for anyone who struggles with stairs.

We used laundry facilities which were nice and refilled on propane. Both easy processes!

Each site had a fire ring, picnic table and concrete slab. No Verizon service at all.

A gorgeous nearby hike, see videos!

    Grandview Cabins and RV

    Peaceful

The RV park is extremely quiet and pet friendly. We extremely enjoyed our three day stay. We have already started planning for a return trip. They also have cabins for people to stay in it, traveling without their RV/tent.

    Ponderosa Campground

    Secluded Campsite.

This campsite is only accessible via boat. There are two fire pits. The land is flat compared to other sites at the Reservoir. Most of the ground is covered with sand. The mosquitoes were not too terrible even though we were right by the water. There are no bathroom facilities just nature. It is a nice quiet cove with amazing views. The stars and the moon light up the sky. I highly recommend staying there if you have boat access. It is secluded and private.
