Within Routt National Forest, Lone Pine North Trailhead operates as a US Forest Service campground that prohibits pets. The facility sits near a lake but requires navigating rough access roads to reach the camping area.
Campers should prepare for challenging driving conditions when approaching this trailhead location. The no-pets policy distinguishes this site from many forest campgrounds in the region. Lone Pine South Trailhead provides an alternative just under half a mile to the east for those seeking different access conditions.
