Pioneer Park, near Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado, is a laid-back spot that offers a unique camping experience right by the river. With sites that allow for both tent and RV camping, it’s a great place to kick back and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Visitors often rave about the clean facilities, including some surprisingly tidy porta-potties. The park is a hit for those looking to fish or float the river, and it’s just a short walk to the local hot springs, making it a convenient base for outdoor fun. One camper noted, “It’s a beautiful camping spot in God's country. Absolutely worth the visit.”

While the campground doesn’t have a ton of amenities, it does allow for campfires, which is always a plus for roasting marshmallows and sharing stories. The surrounding scenery is stunning, with mountain views and plenty of trees providing shade and a sense of privacy.

If you’re lucky enough to visit during the Hot Sulphur Days celebration in June, you’ll be treated to an unforgettable fireworks display that campers have described as the best they’ve ever seen. Just keep in mind that the nearby train can be a bit noisy at night, but many find it adds to the charm of the location. Whether you’re here for a quick getaway or a longer stay, Pioneer Park has a friendly vibe that makes it a memorable spot to unwind.

Home Campground

Raising our boys in Hot Sulphur Springs right next to Pioneer Park, this camping spot is our home base. It's well maintained, you can float the river (but not through the canyon), great fishing, and the hot springs is walking distance. Beautiful camping spot in God's country. Absolutely worth the visit.

SiteThe corner one one the riverside is the best!

Good place to crash

Stayed one night here. Got a site alongside the river which was cool. The train was a downside as it went through twice in the night l, whistle and all.

Free but Very Close to the Railroad

We stay here to go to the hot springs that are across the railroad tracks.

Great because its free, but no real amenities

Close to town too, close to the river, nice open spots with big trees.

Next to Colorado Open Space and SWA
