All Good Things Must End

I grew up camping here, so would stand to reason why I would revisit as an adult! Not much has changed up to this point, however, that is all soon to be changing! This is the last year that free camping will be offered at this childhood reservoir! Thanks to that 5% of ignorant people that could care less about cleaning up after themselves, or following such simple, basic rules! Now the experience will require advance reservations, and strict rules to be enforced and basically on sight security to enforce all the new rules that will most definitely be much stricter and oh so many more! So thank you to all of those that contributed to the need for such drastic changes! I'm sure you're out there ensuring that all of these beautiful places are bound to become part of the new world wonders! Aside from this ever so heartbreaking news, it was a wonderful trip down memory lane! And even better, horrible cell service! Yes intentionally said even better was the horrible cell phone service!!! Was truly a peaceful retreat? FYI Verizon is my provider for future reference!

Last year as a free campground

This was a great place to stop for the night. Plenty of campsites, fire rings, bathrooms, not to mention the beautiful view of the reservoir. At dusk it was mosquito city!! 🦟 swarms of the lil punks. But some bug spray and a citronella candle and I was good. Also there were way less mosquitos at night and in the morning. Camp host came by and let me know that this was the last free year as a free campsite.

Happy campers

A little difficult to find as I assumed the boat launch would be different from the campground. Sites this year(2023) are free even though the land is privately owned by Colorado Electric. The lake is clean. Vault toilets are clean. Sites are currently first come first serve.
