    Crescent City, California

Florence Keller Regional Park, located just north of Crescent City, CA, offers a peaceful retreat among towering redwoods and lush greenery. This campground is a favorite for those who appreciate a first-come, first-served setup, making it a great spot for spontaneous travelers. The park is open year-round and provides a serene environment with clean bathrooms and flush toilets, though showers are not available.

The campground features a mix of tent and RV sites, with some spots offering electric and sewer hookups. However, it's worth noting that the roads within the campground are narrow and winding, making it a bit tricky for larger rigs to maneuver. Most sites are best suited for smaller trailers and vans.

Visitors have praised the tranquility and natural beauty of the park, highlighting the short trails that wind through the redwoods and the day-use area with a playground and picnic tables. The camp hosts are known for their friendliness and helpfulness, even selling firewood for $10 a bundle.

While some road noise from Highway 101 can be heard, many campers find that it doesn't detract from the overall peaceful atmosphere. The park's proximity to the highway also makes it an easy stop for those traveling along the coast.

If you're looking for a quiet, shaded spot to camp among the redwoods, Florence Keller Regional Park is a solid choice. Just remember to bring your own water and be prepared for the lack of showers. Enjoy the towering trees, the cool shade, and the sense of being far from the hustle and bustle, even though you're just a short drive from Crescent City.
