Best RV Parks & Resorts near Floriston, CA

Several RV parks operate near Floriston with accommodations for larger vehicles. Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort in Verdi features paved pull-through sites with full hookups, located just off I-80 at the California-Nevada border. The resort maintains 105 sites including both back-in and pull-through options for various RV sizes. "Beautiful view of the mountains, good security, private bathrooms and showers, pool and hot tub, very clean," notes a visitor, though some mention highway noise from the nearby interstate. Sparks Marina RV Park offers concrete pads with fake grass areas and accommodates larger rigs with wide spaces for slides on both sides, while Bordertown Casino RV Resort provides full-hookup sites with 50-amp electrical service.

Access to most RV facilities requires navigating mountain roads with potential elevation changes during winter months. Cell service remains strong throughout most developed RV parks in the region, though coverage may diminish in more remote locations between Truckee and Reno. Winter travel demands additional preparation as mountain passes can require chains or close entirely during snowstorms. Many casino RV parks remain open year-round, while campgrounds at higher elevations typically close from mid-October through May. Dump stations are available at all the full-hookup RV parks, and propane fill service can be found in nearby towns. Pet policies vary by location, with some parks offering designated dog areas filled with sandy gravel for convenience.

    Silver City RV Resort

    Convenient location with great amenities

Great location if you want to be near Costco and the capital city.  Great views of the Sierras and the Carson valley.  Sites are narrow, about twice the width of your RV, and separated by chain link fencing.  But all sites are perfectly flat, paved pull-throughs; easy in, easy out parking.  Also electric, water, sewer hookup, cable and strong wifi and cell service.  Sites are gravel, but the campground has nice grassy dog parks, clean bathrooms and laundry, and well-stocked store with propane refill.  Pool and fishing pond were closed but looked great.  We were there in early April 2021; with our binoculars we could see skiers at the top of Heavenly Mountain ski area!

    Clio's Rivers Edge RV Park

    Great RV Park

Impressed with clean sites and tall pine trees. A very clean RV park and friendly staff. Call for reservations as its popular. Some lower sites had concrete pads for the provided table. Several seasonal private modular homes among the RVer. Secured large dog area with running creek within walking distance. A number of lower RV spaces within walking pathways to creek. Most were 30 amps and upper level had some 50 amps. Lots of back ends and pull throughs. Visitors must walk to the trash designated area fenced in with recycling bins. Only one bathroom building that housed laundry room. Shower stall in women’s area .50cent for 20 minutes and 2 toilet stalls that the door hits your knees a very weird old bathroom. We enjoyed the park and plan to return again.

    Sparks Marina RV Park

    Nice place to visit

Nice level concrete pads for travel trailers, they also have pull through sites for diesel pushers. Both 30 and 50 amp sites along with cable on the pedestals, make sure you bring your own cable to connect to the pet store or they’ll charge you $4.95 for a cable cord. Large clean bathrooms, with a laundry facility that is open 24 hours a day. Upon checking in, staff will guide you to your site and assist you in backing in to your campsite or guide you through the pull through site. They explain all the rules which are typical and show you the location of your pedestal and your sewer hook ups. Wi-Fi is strong and if there are not a lot of people at the campsite you can stream to a television which is the first time in a long time. Unfortunately when the weekends come in the campsite gets full Wi-Fi signal does degrade quite significantly. The bathrooms are well-maintained and constantly cleaned, staff is very friendly and they have a small camp in store for you to pick up small supplies. If you need anything larger there is RV country which is located basically across the street at legends which is a rather large shopping mall area. There are plenty of places to go out and eat if you would like such as outback steakhouse, Olive Garden, BJ’s and of course there is a plethora of fast food restaurants available in the area as well. The campsites are flat and level and have a picnic table with artificial turf next to your campsite. I’ll just say that the sites are very cozy. Very quiet camp area staff is very friendly and helpful

    Sparks Marina RV Park

Great Urban RV Park, best in Reno Area

The Reno area is our home base, we are full time RVers in a 35 foot long fifth wheel.  We come to Sparks Marina RV Park whenever we are in town visiting family, and we typically stay for at least a month or sometimes two months.  We have visited ALL of the RV parks in the vicinity, and in Carson City to the south.  By far this is the best place in the area.  The sites are not at all outdoorsy, it is more of an urban feel, with a concrete pad and fake grass, but each site has a tree which is nice for shade in the hot summers.  The circulation works well and if you have a pull through you have two parking options for your tower/toad vehicle.  The spaces are long enough for the larger rigs, and are wide enough for all of the slides, even on both sides, and for awnings to go out.  Staff here is EXCELLENT.  We are always treated well, and we like how they are always there to help.  The office has some supplies for sale, and the laundry room and bathrooms are the CLEANEST we have ever seen.  Facilities are modern.  Rec room has ping pong, and pool, a large screen tv as well.  There is a small pool and hot tub, which gets a lot of use when open.  They do not allow tents.  They have a pretty robust WiFi system, and all cellular options are available in the area, so internet is not a problem.  Prices are higher than other options but the location is excellent, staff is excellent and they do a good job of security as well.  We feel safe here, and it is always clean.

    River Rest Resort

    Supe Nice and Easy

This is a great campsite, with lots of amenities. Super family friendly. Lots of kids at this site.

I came here in early August, 2020! It gets warm during the day and many spots have trees, which provide partial shade at some point in the day. I do recommend bringing a pop up structure for the moments when shade is not available.

We stayed at campsite 24, which is right on the river and next to the main river pool access. Lots of people coming by but everyone is respectful and there is some privacy from small trees planted along the path.

At the other end of the site is a river access that’s smaller and allows dogs (the main one does not). Since I do not have kids but do have a dog, I will probably try for the sites closer to the dog access next time.

The main river pool gets busy, lots of kids, families etc. but in the early evening and morning it is pretty empty and was a great time to relax. The dog access river pool was a lot less crowded. You can also float from the dog access pool down river to the main pool site which was a lot of fun.

The property has great bathrooms with showers. They take quarters for the showers, $.25 for 2 minutes. They have a small store onsite for the last minute essentials. They have a air pump to fill up rafts to float in the river. They also have wood delivery to your site if you order by 7pm. Each site has a picnic table and small fire pit with a grate if you want to cook on that! They also have a larger communal areas with BBQ and sink for those wanted to have a group meal. Each campsite has water, electricity and full RV hookups. So lots of RV’s at this location.

Very dog friendly and kid friendly.

Staff was super helpful and always present. They made rounds emptying trash cans, cleaning the bathrooms and just monitoring the area so that’s is super well maintained. You can tell they really love the place and want to keep it clean. They also were super nice when enforcing the rules, not mean but were not afraid to remind people to follow the camp rules (which were super reasonable).

No cell service, which was great. But you can drive up the hill 10 minutes to park at the vista and get a signal.

All in all we had a great time and will be back!

    Desert Rose RV Park

Nothing Special but a Good Short Termer to Visit the Reno Area.

The RV park was easy to find and enter. Check in was smooth with a very friendly staff, and we were escorted to pull through site 150 with FHUs for our three day stay. The utilities are nicely placed on the middle of the pad. Site 150 is a premium pull through. The only thing that makes this site premium is the concrete pad, small grass front yard, and shade trees; as there is no picnic table, patio, or fire pit. Sites are near each other throughout the park. We really didn’t see where any sites were better spaced than others. We received a Good Sam discount for the nightly rate, which basically paid for the lodging tax. Then there’s a $2 resort fee and $3 per pet fee ($6 for our two pets) with other charges if you bring additional people and vehicles with you. The WiFi was average for a park this size. Cable did not work, but they were trying to get the cable company to come fix it. However, we got a fair amount of OTA channels, with two prime channels. We got 2 bars on Verizon. There’s an interesting mix of full timers, seasonal, and short termers. I state interesting as many of the permanent party live along the South to West perimeter. Most take pride in their sites but as good as the park sites look towards the front it degrades in too many sites looking like, well, a “trailer park”. There’s a very clean and well maintained facility with a Rec Room, showers and nice big laundry. We like the rule where a site can only use two machines at a time. Unless you want to trek out into the desert where the Quads and ATVs go, there are no trails here to walk your dog, but there is a small fenced, off-leash dog area, which was nice. We thought this park would be more of a destination park and for us, it was not. This park had the worse road noise we've experienced after two years on the road. Our sound machine could not drown out the internal park muffler rumbles of locals going to work that started about 4:00 AM, the highway noise all day plus most of the night, and the 5:30ish AM train. We stayed here three nights based on reviews from other websites. Our opinion overall, this place is nothing special. However, it is a good overnighter and could be an option to explore the Reno area.

    Crystal Springs Campground

Camping under giant sequoias! What more could you want?

Beautiful, wild forest camping under huge sequoia trees in a well maintained campground with fairly well separated sites. Flush toilets and garbage disposal but no dump station or electrical or water hookups. Definitely not for big rigs and I have a teardrop trailer and my Outback which are almost 30 ft and it was quite a challenge

    Zephyr Cove Resort

    Family fun for all ages

Excellent spot for the whole family. Beware, if you are pulling a trailer brush up on your backing up skills. Very tight and narrow. Best time to get in the park is during the day. Not much difference between back in sites versus pull through sites. Very clean facilities. Close to everything. Everyone is nice and friendly. #162 is a good level site for RV.

    Washoe Lake State Park Campground

    Great stop over

Spent the night here on a road trip. 30$ for non Nevada resident but includes full hookups except water was shut off for the season. Flat, wide spaces with mostly pull throughs, clean bathrooms and shower. Convenient credit card pay system. Also a dump station.

Guide to Floriston

Floriston sits at an elevation of 5,261 feet in California's eastern Sierra, where summer temperatures average 75-85°F with cool evenings dropping into the 40s. Winter brings significant snowfall to the region, with mountain passes often requiring chains or closing completely from November through April. Most developed RV parks in the Floriston area operate year-round despite seasonal mountain conditions.

What to do

Fishing access: French Meadows Reservoir allows shore and boat fishing with easy access from campsites. "We rolled in around midnight on a Thursday in September and there were still plenty of walk-in sites available... There was a water spigot, toilets, table, fire ring, and easy access to the reservoir," notes a visitor at French Meadows.

Mountain trails: Several RV parks provide direct access to hiking and mountain biking paths. At Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort, "There is access to a hiking/mountain biking path, but I did not explore it since it had rained heavily the day we arrived, and it was muddy," reports one camper who appreciated the outdoor recreation options despite weather conditions.

Casino entertainment: Many rv parks Floriston, California area offer gaming facilities with additional amenities. A guest at Bordertown Casino RV Resort states, "Great place. All you need is right there. Views, food, casino, restaurant, gas store and more." Casinos frequently feature restaurants and convenience stores for essential supplies.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Multiple RV parks emphasize cleanliness standards. At Bordertown Casino RV Resort, one visitor noted, "The office staff was very nice. We called ahead to find if they had a spot and they did. Arrived 20 minutes before the office closed at 6 pm." Another guest mentioned, "Very convenient off 395 and friendly staff and very clean facilities. Paved sites and picnic areas."

Proximity to attractions: Staying near Floriston provides convenient access to multiple destinations. According to a review for Silver City RV Resort, "This RV resort is situated in the middle of everything! Close to Lake Tahoe, Reno, Virginia City and more! Spaces are wide and recent upgrades will have nice vine covered privacy fences between each site."

Site privacy: Several campgrounds offer vegetation or design elements that create separation between sites. "We got site 157 about 150 yards from the road. Road noise was not too bad and the ability to see the lake made up for anything we heard. The campground was well maintained. The snow added to the scenery," reports a winter visitor at Tahoe Valley Campground.

What you should know

Age restrictions: Some RV parks limit older vehicles. A guest at Sparks Marina RV Park warns, "There is NO mention of an age restriction on their website. I specifically searched it before I made the reservation. But they WILL take the reservation online, take your money, then call to check the age of your rig. If you are honest, you are screwed."

Seasonal water availability: During late summer and drought conditions, water access may be limited. One camper at French Meadows Campground experienced: "Water pumps were good in the locations where water was present, but due to lower water levels, the pumps on the higher grounds had no water; had to walk to the lowest pumps."

Noise considerations: Highway proximity affects some campgrounds. "This park is right off I-80 and you can hear the busy noise from the highway. Putting that aside it is a beautiful little RV resort with lots of mature trees nestled on the very flanks of the mighty Sierra," notes a visitor to Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort.

Tips for camping with families

Activity options: Seek out parks with multiple recreation facilities. "We enjoyed our short stay here. We were able to do laundry. The bathrooms were very clean. The WiFi was okay. The grounds are very nice and the staff are too! Very happy campers," reports a guest at Sparks Marina RV Park.

Pool facilities: Several RV parks near Floriston feature swimming pools and hot tubs for family enjoyment. At Gold Dust West RV Park, "Typical casino RV site - showers, laundry and full hookups. Hardly anyone there so we got a nice site in the corner with some rare Nevada grass. The park is beautiful! The guests are all super friendly. Family and pet friendly. The pool isn't open yet but the spa is."

Pet areas: Designated pet facilities accommodate family pets. "We appreciated the designated dog area filled with sandy gravel," notes a reviewer at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park, highlighting the practical amenity for traveling families with pets.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: When reserving online, check site grade and positioning. One French Meadows camper cautions, "WARNING- two thirds of the campsites were on a slope with no where to setup a tent on level ground. We got lucky and reserved a site with a 'decent' spot to place a tent but if you have never been and don't know what sites to pick while making reservations online then you are rolling the dice."

Off-season value: Consider traveling after summer peak for better rates. "We appreciated reduced winter rates after October 2 ($40 for a back-in site)," notes a Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort visitor, highlighting cost savings for shoulder season travelers.

Bathroom accessibility: Check bathroom locations when selecting sites. "The only complaint I have is some of the restrooms had no skylight or lights so even using them during the day you would need your flashlight and depending on where your site was the walk to the water was steep," mentions a French Meadows camper, providing practical insight for nighttime facility use.
