Good winter option

We decided to come in the off season in February and we got lucky with weather. Low tonight is only supposed to be in the upper 30s. Very quiet but some sledding and hiking activity close by. Sites are a little close to each other, but being so quiet it's not a big deal. One bathroom is still open and the general store and restaurant are right around the corner. Plus, only $10 a night!

Amount the tall trees and centralized

Azalea is great because it is central to both Kings Canyon and Sequioa. Good size spaces, lots of sites, trees and meadows everywhere. Just look out for the falling pine cones! We went first weekend of Oct and it was super quiet and perfect weather.

In the heart of Kings Canyon National Park by grant's grove

Near the beautiful big trees, large sites and beautiful sunset's off the back of the campground. Wonderful area to visit - nightly campfires in the summer and food etc. at Grant's Grove.

Long weekend

We went up on a Thursday and I am glad we did. If you go up on Friday you will be fighting for a spot and Good luck finding an opening on Saturday. This is a no reservation site and runs 18 dollars a night. Eat site has a bear bin, and a fire ring with a grill.

There are great day hikes close and the site is about an hour drive down to cedar grove.
