Riders seeking trails must look beyond established campgrounds toward dispersed camping options on public lands surrounding the area. The Dragoon Mountains containing Cochise Stronghold Campground offer potential for trail riding, though the campground itself doesn't provide horse-specific facilities. Water access for horses may be available at seasonal streams like the one near Cochise Stronghold, which requires multiple crossings to reach the campground. The area's terrain includes rocky sections and steep trails that may challenge horses and riders. When planning equestrian camping near Bisbee, contacting the Coronado National Forest office for current information about dispersed camping regulations and horse access is recommended, as official horse-friendly designated sites are not documented among the established campgrounds.

    Tombstone RV & Campground

    This is a great campground!

Awesome stop! Great campground just down hill from old town tombstone! You wont be disappointed, nicely run and kept, everything you need. Lots to see and do in area. Sierra Vista is about 18 miles with excellent shopping. Bisbee is a fun drive through mountains and fun town to browse as well. Tombstone is well worth the visit, go see the Birdcage, well worth the tour of 1881 multiple purpose bar, brothel, casino card games etc. There is a great leather shop in town. G. D'AMBROSE, I highly recommend his leather work, top quality, I got my gun belt holster while in town, custom made to fit. It was Christmas week and he still got it done in record time, great guy, his saddles and other items were remarkable as well. There were lots of restaurants, saloons, shops, stage coach still running in town. Step back in time and enjoy the old west, dont forget to visit boothill for some of tombstone history. We were there for 9 days, but didnt see it all. The campground has a gate at rear corner, you can walk lots of dessert trails, or some brought there 4 wheelers , golf carts, and rode them. Campground had nice laundry, propane, pool, clubhouse, spaces had rail fences between and nice space. We decorated the fence with Christmas lites, many others did as well.

They also rent casitas. Little saloon that serves basic food. Plenty of hiking and horse back riding available. Tame horses roam free on the property. Lots of famous movie set areas to see like 310 to Yuma. Pool and hot tub also on site. Bathrooms and showers available as well. Friendly and affordable.

    Rancho del Nido

    Miles and mils of Silence

Kim & Dan are wonderful hosts. The property is on the side of a slope with expansive views. Spotlessly clean porta potty. Safe. Peaceful. Horses and cows. I booked 2 nights and as soon as I set up camp I booked two more. So glad I did. Great location. Delicious well water.

    Cochise Stronghold Campground

    Gorgeous Hiking & Climbing Opps!

Various Oaks and Alligator Junipers abound at this cute little National Forest campground tucked in the Dragoon Mountains, another of Arizona’s beautiful “Islands in the Sky.”  Named for the late Apache leader, Chief Cochise, this campground sits at the base of a few absolutely gorgeous hiking trails and rock climbing areas.

Each site has a good amount of space but oddly a small amount of space for tents and RV’s longer than 24 feet won’t fit in most of the sites.  There is no privacy in between sites, but each site has good tree coverage (almost too much for our solar suitcase on an extension cord). Each site has a huge cement picnic table, fire ring, and grill and there are a couple composting toilets.  There was no drinking water available at the campground (the website says there is water), but there is a creek you can pull water from for filtering, so come prepared.

Important note:  If there is rain in the forecast, be aware that you may get stuck in this campground for a couple of days, as you have to cross numerous washes on the road to/from the campground. We were there for 3 days before it was safe to pull a small camper across the “death wash” that grew to 6 feet high and 20 feet wide during a 24-hour rain event!

    Triangle T Guest Ranch

    Pretty cool campground

The Triangle T Ranch is a neat experience. It has history and character all around. Even though it's only a quarter mile from the 10, the noise is very minimal.

We showed up while they were hosting a wedding there. We were never greated or shown any hospitality because of that but we're experienced enough to be self sufficient. We originally reserved an electric only spot #1. We quickly realized our spot (as well as #s 2 & 3) were actually the corner of the parking spaces for the wedding guests. A quick text with the camp hosts and we were relocated to a full rv hookup spot. MUCH BETTER all around. If you make a reservation, choose either full rv #3 or #4. These spots back up to a huge boulder and offer wind blocking and shade for your rig or tent. Made the experience perfect.

The missus and I hiked around the horse trails they have and loved the views. The saloon was reserved by the wedding party but we crashed it anyways. The ladies running the saloon were fantastic. Good times.

    Tombstone RV & Campground

    Beautiful and clean, perfect location

Upon arrival, this park is absolutely gorgeous. Check-in was swift and easy, and we were escorted to our site by a friendly staff member. Although the park is big rig friendly, we found the turn into the row very tight for our 37ft 5th wheel and long tow vehicle (about 55ft total rig length). Once in the proper row, the turn into the pull through sites is easy.

Full hookups were all working smoothly, and although we did not use any of the facilities, they all looked beautiful and clean. The dog park on the far end was absolutely spotless. The lighting around the campground at night was charming and appreciated. Our site had a tree with a picnic table under it.

We were only a few minutes drive away from all the best attractions Tombstone has to offer, but the location is quiet and away from all the commotion.

Horses and cows," writes maryellen S. The ranch's elevation provides expansive views and cooler temperatures than the desert floor.

These granite formations create natural shelters and dramatic backdrops.

What you should know

Water crossing challenges: Access to some campgrounds requires navigating water features. "You do have to cross the stream several times to get the the site. When we crossed the water was 3-6" deep and a few crossing are over rocks (not pavement)," explains Beth G. about Cochise Stronghold Campground. During rainy periods, these crossings become impassable.

Weather preparedness: Temperature fluctuations demand appropriate gear. "It was getting down to freezing temperatures in November briefly over night," notes Jose J. about Tombstone RV & Campground. Seasonal considerations affect camping comfort significantly.

Tips from RVers

Site selection guidance: Choose RV sites carefully based on size limitations. "Although the park is big rig friendly, we found the turn into the row very tight for our 37ft 5th wheel and long tow vehicle (about 55ft total rig length)," cautions Christina H. about Tombstone RV & Campground.

Accessibility considerations: Not all campgrounds accommodate larger rigs. "We saw several small SUVs/crossovers, small trailers, a dirt bike and a Prius," mentions Beth G. regarding vehicles successfully reaching Cochise Stronghold, though larger RVs may struggle with the access road and water crossings.

Hookup availability: Services vary significantly between campgrounds. "If you make a reservation, choose either full rv #3 or #4.
