Cabins at Coldwater Gardens come equipped with electrical service and some kitchen facilities, while maintaining a rustic atmosphere. Under the Hoof offers a unique cabin experience on a working farm with electricity and water hookups. "A wonderful January camping trip! Our site was super close to the water, less than 100 yards! Mystic Springs Recreation Area

    Remote Primitive and Wild

Pros: Covered tent sites (we tent camped) portapottys, free for up to a week, boat launch, spaced out sites (pretty private). Has picnic tables, fire pits, and grills. Cons: Sites flood, lots of gaters (if you have small pets this is sketchy), gets a little busy on the weekends with the boaters, it's reaallllly far from the next town but there's a gas station 15mins away. Get gas before you go back to camp. It's beautiful and clean. About 45mins to pcola

    Mystic Springs Recreation Area

Primitive site with fire ring, grill, trash can, , large portapotty and nice water view.

I’ve camped at Mystic Springs numerous times. I book the group site. Very large & spacious. Perfect for a large group or multiple people. Plenty of room for several tents. It has a fire ring, grill, covered structure with 2 picnic tables, a garbage can and a large portapotty. It’s generally very quiet. It’s a gated site so to me it feels more secure. People do walk through the site occasionally but not too often. It’s primitive camping so no power & no potable water. Most sites have water view.

    QUIET & RELAXING

A wonderful January camping trip ! It was about 45° but we stayed cozy by the fire pit . Our site was super close to the water , less than 100 yards! We had a picnic table too, perfect for meals outdoors. Can't wait to come back when it's warmer!

    Another Free Riverside Campground

Nice sites spread throughout the recreation area. Although they are free they most be reserved online at www.camplife.com. the sites each have a picnic table, fire ring and grill. They are currently working to add pavilions at each site. Trash and a porta potty are located on site. There is also a boat launch for access to the Escambia River.

    Mystic Springs Recreation Area

And it comes with a cat!

Loved this place. It doesn’t look like it on the campground map, but most sites are secluded and come with their own picnic table, fire ring, and cover! The cover is amazing - you can put your tent, car or camper under it to stay dry. Makes me wonder why more campgrounds don’t have something similar. There’s a portapotty available, and it’s one of the cleanest I’ve visited.

Only issue with this place is the reservation system. I like that you can reserve a site in advance, but it seems like a lot of people take advantage of it and don’t end up showing. While I was here I think almost all the sites were officially booked, yet less than half actually were occupied. Please don’t do this if you’re staying here!

Oh yea, there was a pregnant cat at my site (6) as well. She was very sweet and maybe you’ll get to see her kittens if you stay here!

    Mystic Springs Recreation Area

    Solid Campground

Stayed two nights, 2-3 bars Verizon, easy access, quiet, one train nearby around 9pm, spacious sites with cover, picnic tables, fire pit, standup grill, trash cans, clean ada porta potty w/ mirror. No potable water. Would definitely stay again. Requires free reservations via www.nwfwater.com, Mystic Springs CG. Keep in mind you can only have two open reservations at these campgrounds at one time and you can’t reserve consecutive campgrounds, must have days in between.

    Mystic Springs Recreation Area

    Reservation only, free primitive sites

Mystic Springs Campground is a reservation only, free primitive campground. Each site has a porta potty, garbage can & covered pavilion with picnic table, fire ring & grill. Some sites are more difficult for large RV’s to navigate, but there are sites that will accommodate larger RV’s. Several of the sites are on the river, with river view (through the foliage), and there is a boat ramp. You could put in your kayaks (but definitely would NOT suggest unless you are a pro due to very fast running river. With a little climbing down to the bank in a few areas, fishing is an option. I’ve been there multiple times & have noticed that weekdays tend to be louder, as the few campers that are there, are more prone to leaving their dogs outside to bark all night. (Not the parks fault-just poor camp etiquette). Weekends are usually pretty quiet. I was there for New Years Eve weekend and beside a few fireworks early in the night, the campground was very quiet & peaceful. In the warmer months, I’ve noticed ants being a bit of a problem in some areas.

    Bluff Springs Campground

    Peaceful~A Place to reconnect

Bluff Springs Campground is a non-profit privately owned and operated campground. While it has not been operational since the pandemic the grounds have been maintained by a manager, grounds keeper and maintenance.

The more than 500 acres provides a secluded peaceful place to unplug from the fast-paced world and reconnect with nature. There are two man-made lakes one of which can be used as a swimming area. However, a certified lifeguard must be present during the use of the lake. There's cabins, dorm rooms as well as classroom availability.

I was fortunate to spend two weekends earlier this year. I enjoyed both visits tremendously as the manager and staff were excellent. From the food prepared to anticipating needs of campers. I look forward to my next event.

If you are planning an event for your group. I would encourage you to consider Bluff Springs Campground, McDavid, Florida. You will be glad you did.

Cabin rentals near Monroeville, Alabama offer outdoor experiences along the state's southern region where the rolling hills meet coastal plains at elevations ranging from 200-400 feet. Summer temperatures typically reach 90°F with high humidity, while winter lows average around 40°F. Cabin accommodations can be found within a 60-mile radius of Monroeville, primarily clustered around waterways and recreation areas.

What to do

Boat access fishing: At Mystic Springs Recreation Area, cabins provide convenient access to fishing spots. "Beautiful and quiet... I camped for 4 nights at site 7 next to the river," reports Kathleen A., highlighting the waterfront locations available to cabin guests.

Historic site exploration: Cabins at St. Stephens Historical Park serve as base camps for exploring Alabama's first territorial capital. "Great history on trail, nice to kayak but not for fishing," notes Lisa N., describing the limestone lake adjacent to cabin sites.

Farm animal interaction: The working farm cabins at Under the Hoof offer unique agricultural experiences. The property includes "goats, chickens, tortoise" according to visitor Donna A., making it particularly appealing for those seeking rural immersion.

What campers like

Covered structures: Many cabin guests appreciate protection from weather. At Mystic Springs, "Most sites have a porta potty, garbage can & covered pavilion with picnic table, fire ring & grill," explains Karen L., noting these amenities enhance the cabin experience regardless of conditions.

Winter comfort: Cabins provide shelter during colder months when tent camping might be uncomfortable. "It was about 45° but we stayed cozy by the fire pit," shares Jeffrey K. about January stays at cabins near water access points.

Privacy levels: Coldwater Gardens cabins offer seclusion within natural settings. "Nice for a romantic getaway or for families. Lots to do. Little farm area with chickens and trials to hike," explains Marlene V., describing the balance between privacy and accessibility.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most cabin sites require advance booking through specific systems. For example, at Mystic Springs "Requires free reservations via www.nwfwater.com," notes VanpeDiem D., adding that "you can only have two open reservations at these campgrounds at one time."

Pest preparations: Cabin campers should bring supplies for insects, especially in warmer months. "Good location, lots of mosquitoes though - make sure to pack plenty of bug spray!" warns Penelopy M. about her experience at cabin sites.

Flood potential: Some cabin areas experience water level changes. "Sites flood, lots of gaters (if you have small pets this is sketchy)," cautions Amy L. about waterfront cabin locations at Bluff Springs Campground.

Tips for camping with families

"We came down from North Georgia, to put a contract on a home in Brewton, AL nearby and found this lovely cabin," shares Donna A., describing how cabins near Monroeville served multiple purposes during their transition.
