Twin Falls Resort State Park Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Twin Falls Resort State Park, managed by the WV Division of Natural Resources, anchors this campground in a stretch of southern West Virginia that catches many first-time visitors off guard with the density of its trail network and the range of facilities on site. The campground operates year-round, which draws visitors outside the typical summer window and means sites can be largely uncrowded in the off-season. All sites are paved, and a mix of wooded and open sites gives campers some choice in exposure and shade.

Getting here requires attention. Multiple reviewers flag the approach roads as a significant consideration, particularly for RV drivers. One route that mapping apps commonly suggest is narrow, climbs steeply, and involves a series of sharp curves that have caused mechanical problems for at least one towing vehicle. The longer route is the safer option. Once in, sites accommodate rigs up to 40 feet with electric and water hookups, though there are no sewer connections, so planning for the dump station is necessary. The nearest grocery store or Walmart is roughly 30 minutes out.

Site quality varies. Some campers report good spacing and level pads, while site 21 drew a specific complaint about unlevel ground. The bathhouse provides heated showers with consistent water pressure, though one late-season visitor noted the facilities were buggy near the end of the season. The park itself includes marked hiking trails with varying difficulty, a golf course, a lodge restaurant, and a pioneer homestead with rescue animals. Deer are frequently spotted along the roadways. Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park and Lake Stephens Campground & Marina (Raleigh County Park) are other options in the broader region for campers building a multi-stop itinerary. As Prim puts it, "open year round and the hiking trails are plentiful." This campground suits RV travelers and tent campers alike who want established amenities alongside a serious trail system and don't mind a winding drive to get there.

Guests commonly noted spacious, well-spaced sites with good amenities including clean showers and friendly staff. The challenging winding mountain roads require careful navigation, especially for RVs, but most found the natural setting and trail access worth it.

Great customer service

We had 2 of the larger campsites (#2 and #3) for Memorial Day Weekend. We had a great time all weekend with hiking, picnics, campfires and ghost hunting. However,on Sunday night a strong storm came through that brought down trees with it's fierce wind and torrential rain. The power went out in the campground. The Park superintendent offered a free room in the lodge to anyone who wanted to stay where there was electricity. We were camping in a tent which ended up with lots of water in it. Kudos to Superintendent Ken for making a bad situation better. We will recommend this beautiful park to everyone.

The only campsite we could get was 21.. nothing else available. We stayed 3 days and 2 other campsites were empty the whole time.. 21 is not level...bathrooms were dirty, I hoped better conditions with it being a resort as well.

Nice State Park Campground

Sites are reasonably spaced. Some are wooded, others are out in open. Decent bathroom. Beautiful park. Drive in is a long windy road.

Great Campground, Beautiful Trails, Golf Course

This was a good campsite, good amount of space between campsites. We had electric only hook ups. There was supposed to be community water at the campsite, but unfortunately it was turned off as we were there at the end of their camping season. There is a dump site available. Make sure your truck/vehicle towing is not underrated for what you’re pulling as it is a lot of big uphill elevation and tons of windy roads and tight turns. The bathroom/shower houses were very buggy, I am not sure if it was because we were at the end of the season or if they are normally this way. There’s tons to do at this campsite from beautiful trails, to a golf course and they even had a resort at a different portion of the park as well. It is a must to go on the trail that leads to both of the waterfalls! The campsite is 30 minutes away from a Walmart or a grocery store. We paid $33.02 a night for the campsite and felt it was worth it.

An Unexpected Beauty

I chose this particular place because it was two hours away from family that we had not seen in a while. Coming from South MS, I had no idea how stunning WV would be. This park has surprised us every single day. They have an abundance of trails with varying difficultly levels. We were here for almost a week and had the time only to get in about half of them. The Cliffside Trail is an absolute must! We came at the end of the season and have basically had the whole park to ourselves. It was truly a treat!! 😊

Tips- The road most map apps will send you to closes for part of the year. Even if you happen to come when it's open, trust me when I say take the longer route 😳 Especially if you are in an RV. It's is as wide as a one-way street, has at least ten too many sharp curves, and is straight up the mountain. ‘Shawty’ (our RV) did not approve of it at all and showed her feelings by busting a belt and jamming up the alternator upon arriving at our campsite. This brings me to Tip #2 If you run into any engine trouble, Discount Diesel is great! We are in the middle of nowhere, and he was the only person I could find to drive up. I'll include a picture with his number in the review. Tip #3 They do not have sewage hookups, so prepare accordingly. Tip #4 Check out the restaurant at the Lodge, great food and prices! Tip #5 If you are scared of the dark, bring an abundance of lights; it gets daaarrrrkkkk, and deer are a lot scarier when you only see their glowing eyes reflected back 😂

Great hidden gem

Nestled in a moderately remote bit of WV just outside pineville/beckley, twin falls state park is an absolutely killer place to stay. Plenty of easily accessible camping sites for RVs, tent spots, and very well documented and marked hiking trails. Very cool pioneer house with garden and rescue animals and (at least during my time there) LOTS OF DEER!!! I had so many deer along the roadways that loved to pose for pictures. Great golf course, decent restaurant and resort rooms, outdoor and indoor pool, tennis/basketball courts, and so many more things. I stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin and it was super affordable at 120 per night and it comes with your own personal wifi and full kitchen. One of the best spots in WV and a must see!
