This is a fee site with 11 campsites, vault toilet, boat ramp, day use parking, and bank fishing accessible to persons with disabilities. The hand pump water well is not operable at this time. Fees at Bennett Peak are $10 per night per campsite. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring/grill, sandy tent pad, parking space but no pull-throughs. The elevation is 7,200 feet and an abundance of wildlife including bald eagle, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, wild turkey, mule deer, mountain lion, grouse, rattlesnakes, and rainbow and brown trout can be found. The campground is located on the banks of the North Platte River and enjoyed by hunters and anglers, who find trout in the North Platte River and big game in the nearby Snowy Range. Use season predominately from June 1st through November 15th depending on winter conditions.

This tiny but mighty cabin, w/breakfast & coffee included, sits up on Jelm Mountain at 7600 ft with a view overlooking the Laramie River. This cozy spot is equipped with a queen bed, Outhouse, (with access to a full, not shared, bathroom) propane gas grill, picnic table, fire pit, hot tub/Sun room, and gazebo. .

Little Cabin with a View sits right on the edge of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest and is close to the Wyoming Colorado Border. This makes it an amazing hiking destination and great for snowshoeing and nordic skiing in the winter. Depending on the time of year a trip up Jelm Mountain offers some beautiful views. The lack of light pollution make for great star gazing or full moon watching from the gazebo, hot tub or the Little Cabin front porch.

There is electricity, electric heat, microwave & mine fridge. The Wi-Fi is accessible in the sunroom/hot tub area, located about 180 ft from the Little Cabin, but does not extend to the Little Cabin. Downlading is slow but checking messages, social media & wi-fi calling works fine. Download anything you want to watch or listen to prior to arrival.

Fur Babies are welcome. They love the room to run.

Fire Pit use is dependent on winds and the weather and how dry the surrounding area is.



Little Cabin With a View

The campground is located on Brooklyn Lake. Every site has a view of the lake ranging from great to spectacular. The lake is a nice canoeing lake in the shadow of the snow capped Browns Peak. This campground provides 19 campsites with tables, fire rings, trash pick up, and vault toilets. There is fishing access in Brooklyn Lake and trail access to the Sheep Lake Trail #389 and Glacier Lakes Trail. Internal-combustion motors are prohibited on the lake, only hand-powered boating allowed. There is a carry down access for boats (no ramp). Dogs must be leashed in the campground.

North Fork Campground lies along the banks of the North Fork of the Little Laramie River in the Medicine Bow National Forest. The facility is popular for RV camping, fishing, hiking and mountain biking. Recreation Mountain bikers and hikers have the ease of accessing the scenic, well-known North Fork Trail from the campground. Visitors who would like a more leisurely experience can drive the scenic Highway 130 or take in the view at the North Fork Overlook nearby. Anglers can fish for trout in the clear mountain waters of the North Fork of the Little Laramie. Facilities A total of 60 campsites are divided into two sections. Most sites lie along the river banks. Vault toilets and a hand pump for drinking water are provided. A campground host is available for visitor assistance. Natural Features Located at an elevation of 8,600 feet, the campground sits in a thick forest of lodgepole pine and spruce. The sound of the Little Laramie River can be heard from most campsites. The Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland encompass nearly 3 million acres from central and northeastern Wyoming to north-central Colorado. Black bear, bobcat, coyote, elk, mule deer and moose are just some of the many animals that inhabit these rich and diverse lands. Although abundant, camping in Wyoming is extremely sought after, especially near the park. Twelve campgrounds within Yellowstone National Park provide adventurers with plentiful options, but planning ahead is vital. The Canyon Campground allows easy access to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a picture-perfect waterfall and river vista in the north-central region. Visit Artist’s Point and hike the 300 feet down to the lower falls to feel the rush of the Yellowstone River. 


For a more touristy experience, snag a site in the Madison Campground. Being one of the largest in the park and less than 20 miles from the famous geyser Old Faithful, this area is a go-to for first time visitors. Sitting at an elevation just below 7,000 feet, the crisp mountain air will refresh. This area gets a lot of traffic, so pack in your patience and remember that the parks are for everyone to enjoy. 


Camping in Wyoming also gives the chance to get off the grid. Grand Teton National Park is directly to the south of Yellowstone and allows for some easy-access backpacking. When done right, you can avoid the droves of humanity that flock to the Greater Yellowstone region. 


For an easy trek into the backcountry, get a scenic spot along Leigh Lake or String Lake. These camping sites are often booked months in advance, so get them quick! A hidden gem tucked in the shadow of Mount Moran is Bearpaw Lake and is also relatively accessible from the same trail. Remember your bear spray and enjoy some genuine Wyoming camping!

Bow River Ranger Station is a house built in the 1960s for the forest ranger that worked on the northern portion of the Snowy Range. Recreation The Upper Medicine Bow River flows past the back yard and provides fishing and wildlife viewing. Facilities The house is all electric with one full bath with two showers, a 1/2 bath, large kitchen, small living room, two bedrooms with two bunk beds in each, a vault toilet outside and fire ring in back yard. The facility is handicap accessible. Cell phone coverage is fair. The kitchen has basic pots, pans, dishes and silverware. Guests are expected to clean the facility before leaving. No trash service; this is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility. Sleeps eight. Natural Features The house sits on the national forest boundary where sagebrush meets the forest. Nearby Attractions Medicine Bow River, Turpin Reservoir, Sand Lake and Bow River Campground are all nearby. ADA Access: N

Bow River Ranger Station

Deep Creek Campground is located near Sand Lake at an elevation just over 10,000 feet. The summers are cool and autumn is brief. Winter comes early and stays late. Campground facilities include 12 small campsites, one pull through site, picnic tables, toilets, drinking water, fire rings. This is a pack-it-in-pack-it-out campsite. No trash service in the area. For hiking, the Rock Creek Trail and Sheep Lake Trail are nearby. Crater Lake Trail provides a short hike to a beautiful lake. Boats must be carried a short distance to reach the lake.

Deep Creek Campground

This is a first come-first serve campground, no reservations. This is our most popular campground, arrive early to find a spot.

The campground has 16 sites in a single loop that meanders along a spruce and fir-lined hillside in the midst of a fisherman's paradise of 102 recreational lakes.  This is a rustic, picturesque campground where every site has delightful views of the Snowy Range. 22 foot max trailer length. Tight roads and small campsites. Tents must be set up on tent pads and are not permitted outside the developed pad.

The campground is convenient to a variety of hiking trails and two crystal clear snow-melt lakes - Libby and Lewis Lakes.  Three popular trailheads originate in this area. You must carry your boat to the water's edge.

Sugarloaf Campground

Bow River Campground is located on the upper Medicine Bow River with 13 campsites (small trailers only up to 32 feet), water, picnic tables, fire rings, one vault toilet. This is a pack-in pack-out campground. No trash service in the area. The Medicine Bow River, Sand Lake and Turpin Reservoir offer fishing opportunities nearby. Trails in the area include Rock Creek, Sheep Lake, and Crater Lake Trails. (See more trail info on this website by clicking on recreation and then hiking from the home page.) OHVs can explore the Campbell Lake Loop after July 1, approximately 9 miles south of the campground. Pick up a motor vehicle use map for free at the Ranger station in Saratoga or call to have one emailed to you. Both Sand Lake and Turpin Reservoir are stocked by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD). Sand Lake supports populations of brook trout, rainbow trout and Splake (a hybrid between a male brook trout and female lake trout). There is no boat ramp at Sand Lake. Watercraft must be carried a short distance to the lake. Turpin Reservoir supports populations of brook trout and Splake. Internal combustion engines of more than 15 horsepower are prohibited on Turpin Reservoir. All watercraft (except for inflatables 10' or less in length) must have a valid Wyoming Aquatic Invasive Species decal. For additional information on boating and fishing regulations, contact the WGFD in Cheyenne or Laramie.

Setting up your own campsite away from developed fee sites, also known as dispersed camping, is allowed in most places. From getting away from it all to just enjoying a weekend with friends, dispersed camping can make for a great story. Across the forests, opportunities range from dispersed camping miles into wilderness or just off a forest road in designated dispersed areas. Make sure to bring everything you need when dispersed camping, as water, restrooms, and fire rings may not be available nearby, and always remember to follow Leave No Trace principles.
