The Sweetwater Events Complex is home to over 1,200 RV spaces, nearly all with 50 amp service and full hook-ups. The spaces are located within three separate campgrounds (see maps below):

    Boar's Tusk Campground
    Pilot Butte Campground
    White Mountain Campground

The campgrounds also feature restroom/shower facilities. Daily rate is $30 plus tax and can be paid onsite. Enter through the livestock entrance and visit the caretaker's house located through the campground on the left side of the road. No reservations needed. Call 307-352-6789 for long term availability. For equine events and county fair campground reservations can be made online on the event pages. Boar's Tusk & White Mountain Campgrounds are only available for large event rentals. Overnight and small events will utilize the Pilot Butte Campground.

Bring your ATV and explore the rugged, high desert plateaus of southwestern Wyoming. Take a tour of Flaming Gorge Dam or hike the Killpecker Sand Dunes before heading back to share campfire stories.

Whether for a quick overnight or extended stay, we have a site to fit your needs. Many RV and Tent sites offer privacy fences at your site.

Yellowstone National Park is the home of almost 3,500 square miles of nationally protected lands. From rushing waterfalls, roaring rivers, soaring peaks, and marvels of geology such as Old Faithful, the park has sights not even imagination even conjure. For this reason, hundreds of thousands visit every year. Plan ahead and experience once-in-a-lifetime camping in Wyoming in the process. 


Although abundant, camping in Wyoming is extremely sought after, especially near the park. Twelve campgrounds within Yellowstone National Park provide adventurers with plentiful options, but planning ahead is vital. The Canyon Campground allows easy access to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a picture-perfect waterfall and river vista in the north-central region. Visit Artist’s Point and hike the 300 feet down to the lower falls to feel the rush of the Yellowstone River. 


For a more touristy experience, snag a site in the Madison Campground. Being one of the largest in the park and less than 20 miles from the famous geyser Old Faithful, this area is a go-to for first time visitors. Sitting at an elevation just below 7,000 feet, the crisp mountain air will refresh. This area gets a lot of traffic, so pack in your patience and remember that the parks are for everyone to enjoy. 


Camping in Wyoming also gives the chance to get off the grid. Grand Teton National Park is directly to the south of Yellowstone and allows for some easy-access backpacking. When done right, you can avoid the droves of humanity that flock to the Greater Yellowstone region. 


For an easy trek into the backcountry, get a scenic spot along Leigh Lake or String Lake. These camping sites are often booked months in advance, so get them quick! A hidden gem tucked in the shadow of Mount Moran is Bearpaw Lake and is also relatively accessible from the same trail. Remember your bear spray and enjoy some genuine Wyoming camping!

The Killpecker Sand Dunes Open Play Area Campground is located about 32 miles from Rock Springs. It is a non-fee area and is ADA accessible. It has a vault toilet and fire rings. The [Killpecker Sand Dunes Open Play Area](https://www.blm.gov/visit/search-details/2252/2) is part of the Greater Sand Dunes Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). ACECs are areas within the public lands where special management attention is required to protect and prevent irreparable damage to important resources. Important resources in this area include wildlife, cultural, scenic, and wilderness. The western portion of the ACEC includes the Sand Dunes and Buffalo Hump Wilderness Study Areas (WSA). These are areas of land that have potential for inclusion in the National Wilderness Preservation System. The BLM is required by law to maintain the natural character of WSAs. Recreational activities like hiking, hunting, and horseback riding are allowed while those that involve the use of motorized vehicles or mechanical transportation are not.

This camping area used by large recreation vehicles to serve as a base camp for OHV use in the Killpecker Sand Dunes Open Play Area. Because it is typically used by self-contained vehicles, no facilities are offered at this location. This area is a fee free site and is ADA Accessible.

North Table Rock Camping Area

The Honeycomb Buttes WSA encompasses 39,908 acres of BLM-administered land, 640 acres of split estate and 640 acres of state land. This WSA is one of the best examples of badlands topography in Wyoming with its many colored bluffs, small draws and side canyons. Twisted and contorted erosional features dominate the landscape. The buttes are scattered with petrified wood and fossilized turtle shell. The Honeycomb Buttes WSA provides outstanding opportunities for various kinds of primitive and unconfined recreation. These opportunities include rockhounding, nontechnical climbing on the clay and rocky buttes, spelunking in the many erosion caves found in the buttes, and wildlife and outdoor photography. Opportunities also exist for backpacking, hunting and horseback riding. The remarkable scenic quality of this WSA greatly enhances the recreational values. This is a fee-free area. The boundary roads are accessible in most locations.
