## Overview

Big Elk Campground is situated along Big Elk Creek on a quiet arm of the beautiful Palisades Reservoir, just 55 miles east of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing and exploring the scenic Big Elk Creek Trail.

## Recreation

Big Elk Creek has great fishing for cutthroat trout and the occasional Kokanee salmon. Canoeing and swimming are popular activities on the reservoir. A small boat ramp is located on-site. When the reservoir level is low, boats cannot be launched on Big Elk Creek.   
  
Big Elk Creek Trail, for hiking, biking and horseback riding, begins at the campground and meanders up a beautiful canyon brimming with wildflowers, towering trees and scenic views.   
  
Palisades Reservoir is across the highway, offering excellent boating, water skiing, swimming and canoeing. Lake and shore fishing are very popular there as well, with wild and stocked cutthroat trout as the predominate species. Kokanee salmon, brown and Mackinaw trout can also be found. A boat ramp is located at Calamity Campground less than 10 miles away.

## Facilities

This campground offers three group sites with picnic tables, campfire rings and grills. Site A-1 also has a picnic shelter and serving tables, and can accommodate up to 160 people. Sites B-1 and B-2 can accommodate up to 50 people each. Individual sites are available on a first come, first served basis only.   
  
Vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided, but there is no electricity. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are gravel. 

## Natural Features

The campgrounds lies on a hillside at an elevation of 5,700 feet, above Big Elk Creek among aspens and Douglas fir trees, which provide partial shade. Sagebrush and summer wildflowers dot the landscape. 

## Nearby Attractions

The Palisades Creek Trail begins nearby, leading hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders to beautiful Upper Palisades Lake and expansive views of Swan Valley.   
  
The Snake River and Swan Valley offer more great fishing and boating opportunities, as well as rafting, canoeing and numerous trails for hiking, biking, horseback and ATV riding. Fall Creek Falls is 20 miles away, and the Fall Creek area has hundreds of miles of such trails.

Big Elk

Kozy Campground is located along the Hoback River, allowing for excellent fishing in an area of the Hoback that has less visitors. This campground is located far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Snake River and Hoback Junction, that is makes for a quiet and peaceful spot to camp out and enjoy the outdoors.

The Teton View Tent is located in Tetonia, Idaho and has breath taking view of the Tetons.

Inside the tent there is a comfortable king size bed, a mini couch that turns into a pullout sleeping mat that can fit two small children. There are also two sleeping mats that can be used but are short in length so fit a child best. The table seats 4 to play games or work at. Outside is a fire pit and picnic table to enjoy meals outdoors. A hammock is in the trees nearby to lay back and relax. Private porta potty located near the tent.



Teton View Tent

Your private RV parking spot is backed up to Trail Creek, with a bounty of berry bushes and willows that provide a cozy campsite. Less than a mile from downtown Victor, this location is convenient for all activities in the Tetons.

Grand Teton National Park is a 25 mile drive. It is around 100 miles to two different entrances to Yellowstone National Park, making it possible to do a long day trip loop. There is plenty of mountain biking, hiking, and rivers to explore. Grand Targhee and Teton Village are each about 20 miles and both have lots of fun summer activities. Jackson Hole is 25 miles away.

Station Creek Campground is located in beautiful Snake River Canyon, just 27 miles southwest of Jackson, in western Wyoming. It sits at an elevation of 5,800 feet. Visitors enjoy fishing and whitewater rafting on the Snake River. Recreation Fly-fishing for cutthroat, rainbow and brown trout is a popular activity on the Snake, as is whitewater rafting and kayaking. A boat ramp is nearby. Facilities The campground offers two group campsites that can accommodate up to 40 people each. The sites are equipped with picnic and serving tables, campfire circles, grills and food storage lockers. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided, but there is no electricity. Firewood can be purchased at the campground. Large parking areas within the facility are dirt. Natural Features The campground is situated in a forest of lodgepole pines, which provide partial shade throughout the campground. Summer wildflowers are abundant in the area. The Snake River can be accessed across the road and down an embankment. Nearby Attractions The city of Jackson is 25 miles north of the campground, offering restaurants, groceries, shops, galleries and ski resorts with summer activities. Station Creek Campground

East Table Group Campground offers space for camping when campgrounds along the Snake River are nearly full. The campground is located across the highway from the Snake River and offers excellent morning and evening views of the surrounding mountains. It is a good option for groups.

Granite Creek Campgound is a large wooded campground nestled in the valley between high mountain peaks very near to the Gros Ventre Wilderness. The campground is located next to designated Wild and Scenic Granite Creek, offering excellent fishing opportunities right next to the campground. Nearby is the popular Granite Creek Hot Springs which is great fun for all ages for soaking in the water and the view after a hard day of recreating. Multiple trails are available very close to the campground and throughout the Granite Creek corridor for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking.

Tucked into a canyon on 25 pristine acres, we are the perfect destination to find solitude in an area that can often feel “touristy” during the prime travel seasons. The Canyon Campground allows easy access to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a picture-perfect waterfall and river vista in the north-central region. Visit Artist’s Point and hike the 300 feet down to the lower falls to feel the rush of the Yellowstone River. 


For a more touristy experience, snag a site in the Madison Campground. Being one of the largest in the park and less than 20 miles from the famous geyser Old Faithful, this area is a go-to for first time visitors. Sitting at an elevation just below 7,000 feet, the crisp mountain air will refresh. This area gets a lot of traffic, so pack in your patience and remember that the parks are for everyone to enjoy. 


Camping in Wyoming also gives the chance to get off the grid. Grand Teton National Park is directly to the south of Yellowstone and allows for some easy-access backpacking. When done right, you can avoid the droves of humanity that flock to the Greater Yellowstone region. 


For an easy trek into the backcountry, get a scenic spot along Leigh Lake or String Lake. These camping sites are often booked months in advance, so get them quick! A hidden gem tucked in the shadow of Mount Moran is Bearpaw Lake and is also relatively accessible from the same trail. Remember your bear spray and enjoy some genuine Wyoming camping!

The popular Mountain Days Celebration is held annually in June, complete with arts and crafts shows, food, live music, a horseshoe tournament, authentic pioneer village and Native American dancers. Jackson, Wyoming is 40 miles north, with restaurants, shops, galleries and ski resorts with summer activities. Grand Teton National Park is approximately 55 miles north, with boating, fishing, hiking, canoeing and outstanding mountain scenery. Alpine North Loop Campground

[Thaidaho Victor](<thaidaho.com/bnb>) is one single 'RESERVATION ONLY' car/truck/bicycle/motorcycle glamping spot for non-smokers. No RV's or trailers are allowed, and we have no dump or hookup. This glamping spot is intended for one or two people who are car/truck/moto/bicycle camping.

There is a small dry sleeping cabin with one full size bed (for one or two people), a dorm-sized refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, fan and space heater. Drinking water and towels are provided. There is an outdoor hot-water shower & flush toilet, a fire pit, picnic table, propane grill and parking for one vehicle or two bikes. There is one separate bicycle camping spot, so at times the outdoor shower & toilet will be shared with one or two other people. The site is pretty, private and has unobstructed views of the Big Hole Mountains, yet is located next to the Town of Victor with it's many restaurants, bars and stores.

Teton Valley is just 25 miles from Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Grand Teton National Park, and just 1.5 hours from Yellowstone National Park. Just 12 miles away is Grand Targhee Resort, with their biking, trails and music festivals in the summer.
