Nice and quiet

Nice campground, we did not find it too loud with the generators which was a worry to start. I really enjoyed the area and being close to the lake was nice as well. It is broken down into 3 loops. I think the best loop is the one that starts with 201. The water sites were awesome. It was not busy when I stayed but it was perfect. The lake is nice and good for a paddle and just a good campground.  Sites were good sized and surrounded with trees. Mostly shady which was nice on a hot day.  There were a good fair amount of families which is nice. I really enjoyed the variety of the campground. It has some great views. I will certainly be back.

Bathrooms were nice and clean. Showers were a huge bonus which means this place will be hard to get a spot at. Not many campgrounds in the area with showers.

More modern compared to others in the area

This is a beautiful campground nestled in Wisconsin’s north woods. There are many choices for sites. Some are larger (we saw a site with a camper and double sun shelter along with space for vehicles and a trailer) and some smaller (vehicle and tent). New rules say that you must have reservations but we had cell service so you can do things when you show up if there’s room. A sprawling beach was enjoyable - didn’t see swimmers. There are vault toilets throughout along with a nice, centrally located shower house. The paved bike path goes right to the campground. You can visit Fallison Lake to hike. This way accesses other campgrounds too. Keep riding and you will discover a corner store with ice cream. Go the other direction and you can pedal to Boulder Junction. We did get a bit turned around with all the campgrounds and snowmobile trails but it added to the fun of discovering our adventure.

Beautiful quiet campground in state forest near Minocqua, WI

Very nice campground in state forest in northern Wisconsin. NO electricity. Generators allowed from 10 am to 5 pm.  There are multiple paved bike trails and groomed hiking trails and other lakes in the area. Woodruff and Minocqua are nearby. The lake is clear, sandy with many areas where you can swim. No electric motors on lake so it is nice for kayaking.  All the sites are large and surrounded by trees, shady.   Clean showers and bathrooms with water as well as several pit toilets. Dump and clean water available at next campground, Crystal Lake, which is a mile away.

There are MANY other campgrounds in the Northern Highlands state forest but this is the ONLY one with showers available.  Cell phone service is minimal with Verizon.  We could send and receive texts.
