Kettle Falls Campground — Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Busy Campground next to Full Service Marina

The Kettle Falls Campground sits on the Upper Columbia River in a popular recreational area.

The campsites are not very private but a few offer stunning views of the river. The campground is busy on the weekends. If you’re looking for peace and quiet try camping during the week.

There are no services except for a few vault toilets and a dump station. However, there’s a full service marina next door. The marina is a popular fishing and water sport destination in the summer.

The campground is clean and well maintained. The sites are small so parking a big rig will be a hassle.

Overall, the Kettle Falls Campground is a great place to access the Upper Columbia River. However, there is little privacy and it gets busy on the weekends.

    Swan Lake Campground

    Beautiful & quiet.

Great campground with easy access to the woods and a beautiful lake with views and fishing. Paved road, clean drinking water, vaulted toilets, locking dumpsters for trash, no motorized boats allowed. Great for families that enjoy camping, great lake for fishing and kayaking, great spot for birding. There are pull through spots for trailers in the upper part of the campground and back in spots with lake views and access. Walk in and group sites are much more private.

Kettle River Campground — Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Super small. Doesn't get much use

Seems much like a lot of the campgrounds in the Colville National Forest. Really quiet, there was nobody there but us! Vault toilets, picnic tables and fire rings at every site! The wildlife viewing is always nice. Bring binoculars! $9 in the off season and $18 in the regular season. So worth it depending on how many people are there in the summer.

    Osoyoos Lake Veterans Memorial Park

    Really nice, spacious park

We only stayed here one night, but we enjoyed our stay. We had 50 amp electric service and fresh water. There is a communal dump station. Lots of grass to walk the dogs.

    Grand Coulee RV Park

    Coulee Dam RV Park

Local area RV Park. 10 drive-thru sites are on the upper level. Lower levels seem to be more permanent sites. All upper sites have 30/50 amp, water and 2 septic dumps per site. Reservations were easy to make and they were flexible when we had to modify our 2 night stay to 1. We were here to see the Dam light show that we’ve missed during COVID. Dam Visitor Center close to Park. Wife preferred not to use park restroom.
Light gravel throughout and at all the sites. Perfectly level and all connections were as they should be. No shade trees in upper sites, $35/night.

    Hunters Campground

    Disappointing

First off- no cell signal of any kind! Be clear on that! You can go to Hunters Bar & Grill for lunch and use their wi-fi, or park out in the lot and maybe catch a signal. As far as campground, there were some spaces with privacy and others you feel your neighbors are in your living room. We came on a Sunday afternoon and dumpster was overflowing and smelly. Put toilets smelled poorly, too! They allow generators from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Now while they allow them, doesn't mean it's nice to run yours until 10 a.m. Dump station was sealed closed and no fresh water available at station either. Plenty of parking for boats and this may be what type of place this has become. We left after 2 nights. View across lake was pretty!

North Gorge Campground — Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Ranger Review: GCI Outdoor Recliner chair at North Gorge Campground

Ranger Review: GCI Outdoor Recliner chair at North Gorge Campground

    Campground review:

North Gorge is a sleepy little place. Small campground with a small boat launch. There isn't a lot of parking so beware if you bring your truck and trailer here. The sites are small, seemed to be a decent amount of space between them. Vault toilets, well maintained. each site has your standard picnic table, and fire ring. There was a burn ban in August, no fires for us. They actually zip tied no fire signs to each fire pit. There are only a few sites, most for tent camping only, however there are a few that will fit a trailer or rv. It is $9 in the off season Nov 1st to May 30th, and $18 in the peak season

As a Ranger for the Dyrt, sometime I get to test out awesome products in exchange for an honest review. The GCI outdoor Recliner is well built with quality materials. It is easy to slide in and out of the large storage back. easy to set up and take down. I love the mesh back, it helps to keep you cool in those hot summer days. The chair has 3 reclining positions and my favorite part was reclining the chair all the way to look at the stars, it gives the perfect angle. I also love the storage pocket on the back. just fold up the storage bag and put it in the pocket for a pillow. It has a cup holder, but I wasn't a big fan of the placement. I give this chair an 8/10.

    Pierre Lake Campground

    The lake was very nice.

This lake is way up in the Colville National forest! The campsites were closed for the season, but it's about $6 for a overnight stay. The lake was pretty clear, and had nice reeds and a sandy beach. The campsites all he tables and fire rings. There is only 1 vault toilet.

Guide to Republic

Curlew Lake creates a popular fishing and camping destination approximately 2.5 miles from Republic, Washington. The surrounding Ferry County landscape features pine forests at elevations averaging 2,500 feet, with mountainous terrain throughout the region. RV sites near Republic, Washington typically operate from April through November, with limited year-round options available during winter months when snowfall can restrict access.

What to do

Fishing access: Republic's camping areas provide direct access to Curlew Lake, known for trout and bass fishing. "We had no problem getting around in our 50 ft rig. We got 2 sites side by side for our camping partners. Nice grassy area for group activities," reports Mike K. about North Lake RV Park & Campground.

Water recreation: The lakes near Republic support kayaking and swimming during summer months when temperatures typically range from 75-85°F. "Weather was great for hanging out in the lake all day swimming and kayaking," notes another visitor to North Lake RV Park.

Local exploration: The historic mining town of Republic offers museums and small shops approximately 12 miles from Black Beach Resort & RV Park. Many campers combine visits to Republic with trips to the Kettle Falls area, where additional camping options exist.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Several campgrounds offer room for larger setups with multiple vehicles. At The Wilds RV Campsite, Jake C. notes this new addition to camping options provides limited sites but with full hookups for RVs.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained grounds as a primary benefit. "Awesome place. Owners are the best," reports Jeremy M. about Columbia Point Resort, where some sites include fresh produce. "Free fresh eggs from their chicken, fresh onions from the garden and more," Thomas adds.

Quiet atmosphere: Many campgrounds maintain distance from major highways, creating peaceful stays. "Super quiet," notes Dale W. about his experience at North Lake RV Park, while others appreciate the more remote nature of camping options around Republic.

What you should know

Limited connectivity: Cell service varies significantly between locations, with stronger signals closer to Republic proper. "Heads up, your cell coverage will be spotty here. Bring a book," advises Craig S. about North Lake RV Park.

Seasonal considerations: Most campgrounds near Republic experience maximum occupancy during summer fishing season. Winter accommodations are limited, with Winchester RV Resort among the few operating year-round.

Wildlife awareness: The area surrounding Republic hosts deer, occasional bears, and other wildlife. Bees and mosquitoes require preparation during warm months. "Be aware of bees during the day and mosquitoes at night," mentions Mike K. from his stay at North Lake.

Tips for camping with families

Amenities for children: Select campgrounds offer designated recreational areas. "This place has showers and bathrooms which were great after a day floating on the river which is just a short drive away. Great tent camping with group camping available," reports Jayme B. about North Lake RV Park & Campground.

Group options: Several campgrounds accommodate multiple sites for family gatherings. "Sites have a lot of room, table, fire pit, garbage can and easy walk to rest of campground," notes Jayme B., highlighting the family-friendly layout.

Activity planning: Families should prepare entertainment options due to limited connectivity. "Super rustic, tons of things for kids to get into, water was clean," shares Craig S. about North Lake's natural play opportunities.

Tips from RVers

Navigation challenges: The mountain roads around Republic require careful driving with larger rigs. RVs exceeding 35 feet may face challenging turns on some access routes to campgrounds.

Utility considerations: Power availability varies between locations, with some offering 50-amp service while others provide only 30-amp. "A comfortable park on the banks of the Okanagan River at the stampede grounds. Well maintained with large shade trees," describes Les G. about Carl Precht RV Park Eastside Park.
