Trail riding from camp: At Sage Horse Camp, riders enjoy direct access to numerous trails. "We don't have horses but it was a pleasant area to stay in still. The area is beautiful and was a good base for a hike and going to the lavender farms in town," reports Lillie P.
Visit Olympic Game Farm: Located a short drive from Dungeness Recreation Area, this unique attraction lets families get close to wildlife. "You are a short drive from the Olympic Game Farm, well worth a visit. Check it out online, the kids will love feeding the buffalo and elk," notes Melissa J.
Explore tide pools: Salt Creek Recreation Area provides exceptional marine wildlife viewing opportunities at low tide. "There is a passage way through a rocky outcropping that you can crawl through to the other beach and plenty of tide pools to keep you busy exploring throughout the day," explains Tarah S.
Harvest oysters: Collins Campground offers access to nearby Seal Rock where wild oyster collection is permitted. "Seal Rock is also very close and you are allowed to harvest oysters without a permit. The beach area is quite pleasant and, surprisingly, the Sound is warm making for decent water play," explains Lawrence F.

Mountain views: Campers appreciate the scenic vistas available at several sites. "Campground was located a short walk away from bluffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca and British Columbia. Beautiful sunset views!" shares Rachel G. about Dungeness Recreation Area.
River campsites: At Collins Campground, most sites offer direct water access. "Amazing little campground all sites except for two or on the river quiet clean bathrooms," explains Tyler S. This layout provides both ambiance and recreation opportunities.
Wildlife sightings: The Olympic Peninsula offers frequent wildlife encounters. "The Valley is home to a herd of Elk as well as deer, bears and other wildlife. There are spectacular views of snowy mountains and you can hear the rumbling of avalanches," notes Rich M. about Enchanted Valley.

Limited facilities: Most horse campgrounds in the region offer basic amenities. "Very close to Bremerton, Silverdale, Kitsap county. Has about 5 tent spots with picnic tables and fire pit. Had a bathroom but no other amenities- drinking water, shower, firewood/ice for sale," notes Caren M. about Green Mountain.
Seasonal operations: Check operating schedules before planning trips. "Only open on weekends," reports Ivy K. about Green Mountain, which impacts availability for weekday camping.
Wildlife precautions: Bears are active in several camping areas. "Bear canisters are a must here as it is in prime bear country, even though we didn't see any," advises Tom K. about Enchanted Valley.
