What to do
Mountain biking on nearby trails: Castle Gate RV Park provides a convenient base for mountain biking adventures. "We stayed here a weekend to get in some mountain biking in nearby Price. Everything in the park is immaculate, and very well maintained. We found a new favorite place to avoid some of the Moab crowd," notes Aaron.
Fishing at Fish Lake: The 5-mile-long alpine lake near Bowery Creek Campground offers excellent fishing opportunities. "If you like to fish they have 20-40lb mackinaw trout. There are several camping sites around the lake but this one in my opinion has the best views of the lake and ambiance," shares Alicia F.
Exploring slot canyons: Located about 50 miles southeast of Ferron, the unique geology provides access to dramatic slot canyons. "We did some fun hikes and close to some really amazing slot canyons. Goblin Valley is amazing," reports Brad B.
What campers like
Dark night skies for stargazing: The remote location away from city lights creates exceptional stargazing conditions. "The night sky was something I've never seen, so unreal!" states Paige J. about her experience at Goblin Valley State Park Campground.
Easy access to ATV trails: Cabin accommodations provide a comfortable base for ATV enthusiasts. "The ATV trails are endless and right out the driveway is access to Skyline Drive AKA God's Country," notes Steven G.
Swimming opportunities during summer: Palisade State Park Campground offers water recreation beyond fishing. "We love going there in the summer months. Even to just go fishing is great. They also rent paddle boats and canoes if wanted. Have a sandy little beach as well," explains LaDell G.
What you should know
Reservation challenges: Cabin accommodations in this region book quickly, especially during peak season. "Only 24 sites makes this one of the hardest campgrounds in Utah to book. If you're lucky enough to get in then you are going to love Goblin Valley," advises Terry K.
Noise considerations: Some cabin sites experience train or traffic noise. "There is a set of train tracks nearby so that may matter if you're a light sleeper. I didn't wake up to any trains so they may not go through at night," mentions Fnu L. about Castle Gate RV Park.
Temperature fluctuations: Cabins offer shelter from significant day-night temperature changes. "In April, still a bit chilling in the evening/morning. Warmed up nicely in the afternoon," reports Aaron.
Tips for camping with families
Look for playground access: Heritage Grove Campground provides family-friendly amenities. "Had very clean restrooms and showers. Lots of amenities like a playground and volleyball net," notes Rayna D.
Consider splash pad locations: Some campgrounds include water features for children during hot summer days. "There is a really cool splash zone for the kiddos and plenty of grassy areas," Steven M. mentions about Castle Gate RV Park.
Explore group cabin options: Larger cabin accommodations can handle extended family gatherings. "Great for groups. I really enjoyed this place," shares Becky J. about Orange Olsen.
Tips from RVers
Water pressure variations: RV hookups at some cabin locations may require pressure regulation. "Their water pressure is outstanding in fact they recommend a pressure regulator on the supply line," advises Michael C. about Manti - La Sal KOA.
Site leveling requirements: Some RV sites near cabins may need leveling equipment. "The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because some of the sites aren't level and are pretty close to each other. I had to use 3 yellow square leveling blocks on the left side," reports Kenyon at Manti - La Sal KOA.
Connectivity considerations: While many cabin areas lack cell service, some campgrounds offer reliable internet. "The park WiFi was beyond excellent. The staff were also beyond excellent," notes Michael C.
