With 30-amp electric and water hookups at each site, Dry Hollow Campground sits along Echo Reservoir within Echo State Park. Reservations are available for this drive-in facility, which accommodates big rigs on level, paved sites with 25-30 feet of spacing between neighbors.
Each site features a concrete pad with a covered picnic pavilion and fire ring. The campground operates as RV-focused, though tent camping works well on the spacious sites. "Each site appears to be level, with shade over the picnic table," notes Zach R.. Camp hosts maintain the facilities, and early check-in at 1 PM provides flexibility for travelers crossing Nevada's salt flats.
Fishing and swimming draw visitors to Echo Reservoir, with some sites offering direct water access via short trails. The reservoir supports various fish species, and when water levels rise, lakefront sites provide immediate shoreline access. Site #3 includes a trail to the water's edge. The Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail runs from the dam toward Park City, offering 28 miles of hiking and biking opportunities.
Road noise from I-80 carries across the lake, though most campers find it manageable at night. Semi-truck sounds reach the campground but remain distant enough not to disrupt sleep for most visitors. The facility lacks on-site sewer hookups or dump stations—the nearest dump station operates at Phillips 66 about one mile away. Lake bugs appear around lights during evening hours, though mosquitoes rarely pose problems.
For different camping experiences, Echo State Park- Dry Creek Campground offers additional sites just southeast of this location.
Description
As Utah’s newest state park, Echo State Park has a long rich history of outdoor recreation to include camping, boating and fishing. The dam and reservoir (1,394 surface acres) were constructed by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) during the Great Depression of the 1930s for agricultural irrigation and in the late 1960s, local Coalville area residents began running the recreation concessions for the reservoir and resort on the property. In late 2017 the BOR contacted Utah State Parks concerning the recreational management of the federal property. Echo State Park joins eleven other BOR parks where the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation manages the recreational operations on the water body. Conveniently located in northeastern Utah, Echo State Park boasts year-round recreation opportunities for its visitors. Echo State Park offers primitive camping and a day-use area with easy beach access. Day Use Entrance Fee: $6 per vehicle (up to 8 people). Walk-in/Bicycle: $4 Echo State Park will also be accepting the Utah State Parks Annual Day Use Pass. Campground now open! Camping Fee with 50 amp electric and water: $40 Single sites $70 Double sites $20 Extra vehicle fee $300 Bison Run Group Campground (up to 50 people).
