We’ve camped here a few times over the years. The most recent was in June 2020 in site 89 which is on the Bass lake loop. We didn’t make reservations ahead and campground ended up being full by Saturday night. Many nice sites, some are reservable and others aren’t. The lake (Owen)is beautiful, many beautiful homes and super clear lake for excellent snorkeling. There are also 2 islands on the lake that you can boat in camp to which we’ve done twice and was amazing One less star because the boat landing within the park has very little parking requiring us to return the trailer to the campsite and walk back and forth to the landing. Our site wasn’t on the lake but a number of them are
Primative campground within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Large sites for the most part, suitable for tents or RVs. See map in photos for notes on the physical attributes of each campsite.
No electric, water, or sewer hook ups. If you need to fill your freshwater tank there is a pump across from site #35 that had room to park our camper and fill with a hose (bring your own). Some people brought generators, which is allowed but annoying if you're trying to enjoy the peace and quiet.
No showers, but a dip in Lake Owen was refreshing. Our site was near the path to the beach, which is a short walk. No dogs allowed in the water or beach. Kayaks and canoes can be rented from the campground hosts.
Good food and options nearby in Cable. For amazing bloody Mary's head to Garnish Inn (about 20 min away).
Poor cell service.
This is this is a wonderful State Park public Vault toilets in a beautiful Sandy Beach for swimming enclosed and marked off along with the Beautiful Clear Lake on one side perfect for boating fishing and watersports public access to the lake and there are many sites where you can pull your boat right up too without the need to launch and Recovery daily large and private sites there are no hookups but that's to be expected with a state park wonderful place if you look in to get away from society and enjoy your summer the right way
This is a great campground with a ton of sites. None of them have electric but they all have an amazing fire ring with a grill on top along with a nice area to park a car as well as a flat area for a tent!
