Beautiful surprise
Just stopped for the night, but we will be back! Nice privacy and beautiful lakeside sites. We will reserve next time to get the perfect site. We were lucky to get a place on the spur of the moment. Edited to add: potable water was brown but clear.
Something For Everyone
This park is a wilderness jewel! If you cycle, the paved forest road to the campground is a roll-curvy jewel through Porcupine Wilderness area. You’ll feel like your 12 yrs old again while riding it. North Country Trail hiking trail cuts through the park and a 1 mile hike around Bass Lake would be perfect for kids. Don’t forget 3 swimming beaches! Hint: you can reserve sites through www.recreation.gov but many of the best sites are first come, first served. Only about 10% occupied this weekend but many sites reserved for Memorial Day.I’m here on 5/22 and yesterday was 80 with a gorgeous evening sun & this morning is a wet 42 degrees. No ticks or mosquitos today! Level sites, each with canopy openings and comfortable distances between sites.

Unbelievable camping experience here. The sites are diverse in options for both interior forest and some lake views. Hosts are great. We had fishing boats to tie off at waters edge and walk up to site. This is real forest camping. Fishing was fun. Great 4 days away from the office.
