Scout CJ Strike Reservoir Idaho Power

Fishing enthusiasts and RV campers will find Scout CJ Strike Reservoir positioned directly at the base of the concrete dam wall, creating an unusual industrial backdrop alongside reservoir access. The campground sits within the C.J. Strike complex, neighboring North Park and Locust Park facilities. Amy S. notes the sites feature "turf grass" and "numerous shade trees" to combat summer heat, though she adds "it is hot in the summer."

Sites accommodate RVs and trailers on fairly level gravel pads, though the campground lacks hookups for water, power, or sewer. A dump station operates at the dam for waste disposal. The concrete dam structure and adjacent hydroelectric plant create a distinctive setting that some campers find dramatic, especially during high water conditions when waves break over the spillway gates. Clean restrooms and fire pits serve campers, with Idaho Power maintaining the grounds regularly.

The desert location limits hiking opportunities but provides direct water access for fishing and boating activities. Dog owners should note that pet waste cleanup remains inconsistent in common areas, despite the campground allowing pets. Grassy areas offer space for children and dogs to play.

Campers seeking a more traditional natural setting might consider North Park Campground nearby.

Many campers appreciated the level sites, clean facilities, and quiet setting at the dam base. Guests frequently mentioned good maintenance by Idaho Power and spacious grassy areas, though some noted dog waste issues.

At the base of the dam structure and spillway

Very unusual setting at the base of the concrete wall of the dam. There is also an electric hydro-power plant as a part of the dam complex. you can approach this site from either side of CJ Strike lake on good paved roads. We visited in the early spring during some high wind and water conditions. It was very dramatic! Small waves were breaking over the spillway gates which were closed giving us quite a show!

Nice for boating and fishing

This is a little campground next to North Park and Locust Park in the CJ Strike complex.  It is nestled up against the dam and offers nice camp sites with turf grass. Good fishing here.  It is hot in the summer but there are numerous shade trees.  I am a tent camper so this is not the kind of place I would go for that.  RV and camper camping are more common here.  It is the desert so there is not much in the way hiking but you are right on the water so that is the main draw to this campground.

Fun

Lots of space to spread out and play. The grassy areas were great for the dogs and the kids.

Great ID Power Campground

Great dry campground. Pads are fairly level. No water, power or sewer. Dump Station right there at the dam though. Idaho Power and Owyhee County Sheriff patrolling multiple times during the day this past weekend (4/5/19-4/7/19). Idaho Power does a great job of maintaining the grounds and keeping them clean. Just wish the people visiting there thought the same and would pick up after their fur babies. Dog poop all over the common area grass.

All in all a great place to spend a couple of days!
