Some of the best Winter Camping and Snowboarding around.

This is a great place to build a snow cave or do some winter camping. It gets cold so dress warm in the -20--40 range. There are lots of great places to drive up to and snowboard to the roadway. There is no camp site so you need to pack in all your stuff. If you are into winter camping it is amazing.

Back country is truly remote here

Harchers pass is a very remote area with camping opportunities along the route from Palmer Alaska to the road to Denali. There are no amenities and few people in tge area. Mostly hunters and fisherman and off road vehicle 4x4s. This is remote wilderness. Be prepared with bear spray.

Backcountry Beauty

This is such an incredible country! There are so many peaks to climb and views to see. If you enjoy hiking and backpacking this is a must do adventure. The water in these hills is crystal and blue. Pack accordingly, there can be some steep portains of trail and extra weight will be noticed!

Hatcher Pass backcountry

Absolutely love Hatcher Pass, have hiked or camped there every year. I usually stay on the Archangel side. There is a remote spot near the end of the road, down by the river, with a makeshift bench and a fire ring. Does have an outhouse nearby. Beautiful views, mountains, sunsets. Hiking trails all around. The lodge at Hatcher is about a 10-15 minute drive.

Peaceful & Beautiful

Hatcher Pass is a great place to camp with wonderful spots near creeks, lakes, rivers, dry ground, floral, high ground, etc. Great blueberry picking as well. Spotty cell service for those who might not feel comfortable being cut off but excellent for those who like to unplug! There's a spot for everyone here.
