Paddlers and anglers will find direct access to Pellicer Creek at this 30-site campground located deep within longleaf pine and saw palmetto forest. The entrance lies about 10 minutes from I-95 exit 298, accessed via a sandy dirt road that can become rutted and muddy during rainy periods. "The sandy road was a little bumpy in some areas but mostly smooth," reports Brandie B., though several campers note the low-hanging tree branches limit access for RVs over 12 feet high or 20 feet long.
Sites are carved from sandy soil with dense vegetation providing privacy between neighbors. Each includes a picnic table, electric and water hookups, though no sewer connections are available. A dump station operates on-site. The bathhouse features two shower stalls with hot water and receives consistent praise for cleanliness across reviews. Camp hosts maintain the facilities and sites regularly.
Two boat launches provide creek access for kayaking and canoeing, with rental options available through the park office. The 2.6-mile Hiram Faver Nature Trail winds through shaded forest to overlook Pellicer Flats, while the Pine Loop Trail offers a more challenging route through wildflower meadows and seasonal blueberry patches. Fishing opportunities abound in the creek's 2-6 foot depths.
Wildlife activity runs high throughout the property. "Lots of wild animals including deer, raccoons, possums, armadillos and tons of birds," notes Bryan W.. Raccoons are particularly active at night, and tick populations can be significant during warmer months. The campground operates with gate codes for evening and early morning access.
Located 30 minutes from historic St. Augustine, the park serves campers seeking creek access and forest hiking. For additional options, see Princess Place Preserve just over a mile southeast. The remote setting and sandy road conditions make this campground best suited for smaller RVs and those comfortable with rustic access routes.
