Within Croft State Park, this state-managed campground spreads across two distinct areas connected by gravel roads. The main lakeside loop places sites along Lake Craig's shoreline, while the upper campground sits back in the woods near hiking trails. All sites feature gravel surfaces with water and electric hookups, plus access to a central dump station.
Campers consistently note the contrast between the two camping areas. The lakeside sites offer direct lake views through the trees, with several reviewers mentioning site 29 specifically for its moderate slope and adequate space for RVs up to 37 feet. Tim P. notes that "B camp sites face lake Craig thru the trees," while the upper campground provides closer access to creek swimming spots. The gravel surfaces work well for RVs but present challenges for tent campers seeking level ground.
Lake Craig anchors the recreational opportunities here, with a fishing dock, boat rentals, and bank fishing producing bass catches according to multiple reviews. The park maintains an extensive trail network for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, with equestrian facilities including stables and a show arena. Sarah B. mentions the "trail that takes you down to the creek for a swim" from the upper campground area. A concrete walkway with swings runs along the lakeshore, connecting to the fishing dock.
The bathhouses receive positive marks for cleanliness and hot showers, though reviewers warn the water runs extremely hot initially. Campers exploring the region can find camping spots outside Croft State Park for additional options. The campground operates year-round with reservations available, though spring and fall see the heaviest use according to visitor reports.
