Several RV parks near Nacogdoches provide full hookup options for travel trailers and motorhomes. Fairway RV Park features similar hookups on sites with picnic tables adjacent to a golf course. Nestled Pines RV Park has 15 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp connections. At Shady Pines RV Park, travelers find market access alongside standard hookups, though the concrete pads can be closely spaced. "Very friendly staff and residents. Nice facilities and pool. COE Sam Rayburn Reservoir San Augustine Park

Clean, quiet, spacious, and great lake views

1/26/23-1/30/23- This is a great COE campsite that is spacious, clean, quiet, and site#63 has lake views on 3 sides. A picnic table, fire-pit, lantern post, 30A electric, and water are provided. This is a back-in site that slopes significantly to the rear(lake side) though. I needed to lower the front of my 34’ fifth wheel trailer 16” to level it; L/R leveling was reasonable needing 1/2” on the right side. The grassy area around the site would be great for outdoor games and the water access would be great to fish from shore, boat access to the site, or swimming. The staff were very congenial and the dump station is conveniently located on the right side just before exiting the campground. Verizon 4G was 4-bars with 20Mbps download and 2Mbps upload speeds. I paid$13/night with my Interagency Senior Pass. Too bad that it was rainy most of the weekend and we didn’t have nicer weather.

House of Prayer - Church and Campground

    Nice Family Atmosphere

This is a quiet place. There's about 10 full hook up, level, pull through sites. Pretty surroundings. Kyle and Sarah keep it clean and family friendly. There's a laundry room. No Bathhouse. They're building a pond, which will be lovely once it's done in 2022. There are small houses nearby. Nice folks living in them. Kyle is really nice, not pushy with religion. Close to Center, Tx. I suggest Darrel's or Chaps for Bbq!

    Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area

    Nice wooded campground

Pretty campground. Tall pine trees. Camped with our camper van along the loblolly loop. Not suitable for large rigs in this section. Level tent pads. Sites have access to the lake. Loved the tall trees. Restroom/shower rooms were very clean. See previous reviews about this. Paved roads & driveways in this section. No water & electric hookups in this section, but available in another section of the campground. Water spigot nearby for drinking water. Busy Hwy 7 is nearby; road noise from big rigs can get loud sometimes. AT&T cell/data service okay. No T-Mobile cell/data service. Would like to camp here again & explore some of the hiking trails.

    Mission Tejas State Park Campground

A hidden jewel in deep East Texas

Ensconced in the deep Piney Woods of Davy Crockett National Forest lies the site of the original Franciscan Mission to the Caddo Indians. The local tribe’s word for friend was tejas (tay-hoss) meaning friend. The camping sites are all situated in the woods scattered among the hills above the Neches River Valley. They do not have sites for extremely large diesel pushers, but 32 foot trailers or RVs fit nicely.

The location has Texas state park normal accoutrements like fire rings, tables, lantern posts, showers, bathrooms and new front office with interesting rain harvesting equipment to view. Serene and beautiful area with hiking trails of easy to moderate level of difficulty with a historic walk to the site of the original Camino Real also known as the Old San Antonio Road.

Nearby you have historic markers every 3 miles or so on the current King’s Highway with Caddoan Indian Mounds to visit, sites of early settlers, including the original Rice Family Dog Run Cabin on site. There is a lovely lake for perch and bass fishing and playgrounds for young children.

It is favorite park of mine to visit and I return every few years.

    Mission Tejas State Park Campground

Great park - small crowded camping

Come for the hiking trails and access to local communities like Palestine, TX and 4C Trail.

You will get to know your neighbors at this state park if you choose to camp here.

Our party was spread out between the main campground and the Day Use area sites. We enjoyed the site we had, but our friends were camping in the main camping loop which was very crowded and cramped mid-week. Personally our site was B near the playground and the ADA trailheads. Site B is kinda magical and if you like people watching than you are in luck, there is no shortage of foot traffic near your campsite. For us it was nice and hikers, passersby were very respectful.

    Amenities used:

Bundled FIrewood (donations accepted, however it is free to use)

WIFI at the visitors center is sub-dial-up speed

Bathhouse is stall type so it is not a fully private room.

    Staff if friendly and helpful

Sites are all on hillside, if you have an RV/camper I would rec the pull through sites. The back in sites really only work for tent camping. For Tents, the pad sizes vary so be sure to check your tent dimensions. We saw a few sites our 4 person tent wouldn't have fit onto. (Saw the same at Lake Ratcliff)

Personally I would recommend the campgrounds at Lake Ratcliff if you are looking for spacious camping loops. Also Lake Ratcliff's bathhouse was much nicer and more ADA friendly. Mission Tejas's high quality trails are only a 20min drive from Lake Ratcliff.

Would've given this park a 4 star if campground hadn't been so cramped. Maybe my expectations need curbing. I will return for some winter camping later this year, possible even early spring as well. It is a great park, but if it is full, it feels crowded.

    Lookout Mountain RV Park

    Unbelievable View

This is a small RV park right off a main highway a few miles outside of Jacksonville. The first thing you notice is the amazing view! You are able to see for miles. Denny met us when we drove up and helped us settle into our site. Full hookups with a concrete pad, very level. The laundry facility was good and free. Will definitely stay there again if in the area.

    Carthage RV campground

    Nice and clean

Very quiet despite mostly long terms, lots of rules that keeps the campground clean, neat, and orderly. Not a great place for pets, walking area is rather small. Small stocked pond, fish were biting! Spaces are extra long, however made for a 5th wheel. If in class A with a tow, will have to unhook if you don’t have 25-30 foot long hoses.

We have never seen such a beautiful and immaculate KOA in our travels! It truly shows pride of ownership by the family that runs it. Guide to Nacogdoches

Nacogdoches RV campgrounds sit within East Texas's Pineywoods ecoregion at approximately 300 feet elevation, characterized by a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Most RV parks in the area maintain sandy or gravel pads with varying degrees of tree coverage.

What to do

Natural swimming: Camp Tonkawa Springs RV Park and Campground offers a unique natural spring for swimming. "Has the best clear blue water for swimming in all of E. TEXAS!! Has exploring trails and even some wildlife roaming if you are a camper. Has a mystical, Lord of Rings vibe," notes one visitor.

Disc golf course: Mission Dolores RV Park & Campground provides on-site disc golf opportunities. A camper shares, "There is a recently renovated historical museum across the street with very friendly staff. The short walking trail includes a beautiful wildflower garden and kiosks with historical information. There is also an onsite disc course!"

Wildlife viewing: Several parks offer chances to observe local animals. At Camp Tonkawa, campers report, "The best part is the deer that will walk right up to you that you can hand feed."

What campers like

Well-maintained facilities: Many campers appreciate clean amenities. At Mission Dolores, a visitor mentioned, "The restrooms and showers are modern, clean, and in great working order."

Scenic views: Lookout Mountain RV Park stands out for its panorama. "This RV park sits atop of a historic state landmark, Loves Lookout Mountain, just north of Jacksonville Texas. This park has the best view in East Texas," according to a reviewer who adds, "You are able to see for miles."

Privacy options: Nestled Pines RV Park LLC offers sites with good separation. One camper noted, "The site was very clean and easy to pull in. They had water, sewer, wifi and fiber connections."

What you should know

Cell service limitations: Several campgrounds report connectivity challenges. At Camp Tonkawa, multiple reviews confirm, "Cell Signal is almost non-existent" and another states, "Cell phone service here is almost non existent. We have sprint service and have one bar, if we are outside in certain areas. Would not recommend staying here if you work remotely."

Reservation policies: Many Nacogdoches RV parks have strict check-in hours. Fairway RV Park has a camp host who provides clear information: "We talked to the full time camp host and he was very friendly and informative. The weekly rate is now 175.00 and the monthly rate is $400.00."

Seasonal pests: Insects can be problematic during warmer months. A visitor noted at one campground, "The flies are horrendous, and so are the ants."

Tips for camping with families

Bring insect protection: The combination of water features and woodland settings creates insect-heavy environments. One camper reported, "It's 3 days later and I'm still killing them in my truck and trailer."

Consider noise levels: Some parks cater more to quiet adult campers than families with children. Many Nacogdoches area RV parks have primarily long-term residents who expect consistent quiet hours.

Pack entertainment options: Limited cell service means digital entertainment isn't reliable. At Ford Chapel RV Park, a guest shared practical advice: "The WIFI, bath house and laundry is great and the other guests are usually quiet and friendly. Also it's right down the road from the Love's Truck Stop."

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: Many RV campgrounds near Nacogdoches have varying site qualities. At Lookout Mountain RV Park, campers appreciate the "Full hookups with a concrete pad, very level."

Laundry facilities vary: While some parks offer on-site laundry, availability differs. As one RVer noted, "The laundry facility was good and free. Will definitely stay there again if in the area."

Monthly rates available: For longer stays, several parks offer monthly options. The Good Life RV Park provides basics for extended stays, though one visitor cautioned: "There is nothing here. In the office is a single washer and dryer and a vending machine. There is traffic in and out all day and night."
