Concrete pads and a trolley stop within walking distance make Gateway RV Campground a functional base for exploring the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg corridor. Sites are level and paved, which means minimal setup time on arrival. The campground sits on the quieter side of town, though it remains close to the parkway, restaurants, and Dollywood.
Sites run close together. Multiple reviewers flag this as the main drawback, and campers with wider rigs should confirm site dimensions before booking. Shaded spots are available, and some reviewers specifically requested them when reserving. "Very nice spacious, level paved spots," notes Rachel, though the upgraded sites with picnic tables, grills, and fire pits cost extra. The bathhouse draws consistent praise across reviews, with paul C. describing "clean roomy lockable showers" as a particular highlight.
Full hookups include electric, water, and sewer connections, with WiFi and cable TV also available. The on-site camp store carries supplies including firewood and rig parts. A swimming pool, kiddie pool, basketball court, playground, and laundry facility round out the amenities. The trolley stop on the property is a practical advantage for visitors who prefer not to drive into town, with connections to a transit hub serving Gatlinburg. Campers without a tow vehicle have noted it makes the campground workable without moving a large rig daily.
Rates range from $51 to $171 per night depending on site type and season, putting it at the higher end for the area. Reservations are available and advisable during peak fall foliage and summer months, when the campground fills. Pets are allowed. Nearby alternatives include Gateway to the Smokies, Mill Creek RV Park & Vacation Rentals, and Riveredge RV Park, all within a short distance for campers comparing camping spots around Pigeon Forge.
Campers who prioritize a clean, well-maintained facility with reliable hookups and convenient access to town will find this campground worth a closer look.
