Interstate 95 and I-40 corridors provide easy access to RV camping near Seven Springs, North Carolina, with multiple resorts situated within a 30-minute drive. The region experiences mild winters with occasional freezing temperatures and humid summers that can reach the 90s. Most campgrounds in the area offer year-round operations with seasonal amenities like pools typically available from May through September.
What to do
Fishing opportunities: Twin Lakes Resort in Chocowinity provides access to stocked lakes and canals that connect to the bay leading to the Outer Banks. "There's a little store where you can buy drinks and snacks & don't forget ice cream! There is a game room, a swimming pool and lots of space for walking or riding bikes," reports Megan A. about Twin Lakes Resort.
Water recreation: Tucker Lake near Interstate 40 and I-95 intersection offers swimming beaches and water activities. "Big lake that runs to the ocean, great size pool, amazing beach ice cream, campground activites such as a live band, DJ, and movie night!" shares Riley about Twin Lakes Resort.
Civil War history: The Averasboro Civil War Battlefield and Museum is located just 9.6 miles from Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages. A camper named Steve K. notes, "There is around 10 historical sites along the route that is connected to the history museum. In Fayetteville about 15-20 minutes there is a lot to do and see."
What campers like
Community activities: Weekend social events bring campers together at several parks. "We really liked the 'Meet Your Neighbors Happy Hour', they really wowed us with this event. It ends early enough that you can still have a quiet evening around your camp site," says Steve K. about Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages.
Weekend breakfasts: Several campgrounds offer complimentary morning meals. "Saturday morning they had a Waffle breakfast," reports Steve K., while Stuart K. mentions that at Four Oaks Lodging & RV Resort, "this campground serves up a nice continental breakfast on the weekends for campground guests."
Wildlife viewing: Whispering Oaks provides nature observation opportunities close to camp. "There's a Blue Herron that hangs out by the pond you can see everyday. There are beautiful deer that come out at dusk to eat with their babies," according to Terry S. at Whispering Oaks RV Resort.
What you should know
Road noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience highway sounds due to proximity to major interstates. "The place itself is just fine. The tv spaces appear to largely be pull through which I liked but there is a constant drone from the nearby highway that never lets up. It was loud all night as well," says Ellyn F. about North Pointe RV Resort.
Cell service quality: Verizon typically provides reliable coverage in the region. Thomas H. from Hidden Haven RV Park reports, "I have Verizon and at my site I had 3 bars and 5G. They do have free wifi and it was good at my site but the cell data was a little faster."
Local dining options: Most campgrounds have nearby restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive. "At the gas station on the corner is a Brothers Italian Kitchen, very good and would recommend. The Carolina Premium Outlet mall is just a few minutes up the road along with many restaurants," notes Thomas H.
Tips for camping with families
Multiple pool options: Several resorts feature dual swimming areas. "Two pools, one Jacuzzi, 3 Dog parks. Volley ball, playground, putt putt and more," writes a visitor about Raleigh Oaks RV Resort.
Dedicated kid zones: Playgrounds and recreation areas cater to younger campers. "The big field between the clubhouse and playground was great for us to gather at for talks and adult vs kids games. The clubhouse is nice and spacious," shares Melissa B. about North Pointe RV Resort.
Seasonal celebrations: Holiday events create memorable experiences for children. "We visited during Halloween and joined in the campgrounds holiday fun. They have a haunted hey ride, a costume parade, site decorating, and trick or treating through the canpground," reports Melissa B.
Tips from RVers
Winter camping considerations: Off-season stays offer quieter experiences with fewer amenities. "We've been here 3 days so far out of 5 and it has been a great stay. The lots are spacious with a good view of the water. At this time of year, December, there weren't too many people here so it was very nice," shares Victor A. about Twin Lakes Resort.
Leveling requirements: Most sites require minimal adjustments for comfort. Thomas H. notes about Hidden Haven RV Park, "There'll be no problem for any size rig. Plenty of pull thru sites and some back in. I chose site B33 so I could be along the tree line and close to the latrines. Very minimal leveling needed and only because I'm a little OCD."
Bathroom facilities: Quality and cleanliness vary by location. "Spartan clean, new bathroom and shower facilities await you along with laundr-O-mat and complimentary WiFi and cable that come standard," mentions Stuart K. about a nearby resort, while another camper describes facilities as "immaculately clean."
