What You Should Know
Campground noise levels: Highway proximity affects some locations. "This campground is right by a highway so traffic noise is high but the views are nice," warns libby M. about Oak Hollow City Campground.
Electrical hookup distances: Bring extra-long cords for some sites. "I was excited to have a lake view spot with electric but my 25 foot cord was not long enough so make sure you have atleast 50 feet," advises libby M.
Seasonal closures: While yurt camping near Browns Summit, North Carolina is available year-round at some campgrounds, others have limited seasons. "Season: March 15 to November 30" applies to Pilot Mountain State Park Campground.
Gate closing times: Some parks restrict after-hours access. "Also be aware that the campground entrance closes at 10 pm. You will not be able to enter or exit until the gate opens the next morning," cautions Shannon C. about Pilot Mountain.

Amenities available were: General Store, Pool, Gaga Ball, Bouncing Pillow, Bath House by the pool, fishing pond laser tag, and a bunch of activities," explains Tucker M. about Jellystone Park.
Swimming options: Pools provide swimming where lakes don't allow it. "There was a pool our kids could swim in until 7:00pm," notes Larisa C. about Oak Hollow City Campground.

Site leveling challenges: Bring leveling blocks to several campgrounds. "Many sites are not level so plan ahead and bring extra levelers," advises Lisa A. about Hyco Lake State Park Campground.
Dump station locations: Not all parks have on-site sewer hookups. "Water and Electric, dump station. Must have a low boat, or a top that can drop due to many VERY low bridges in the area," explains Kathy G. about Hyco Lake.
Extended stays available: Some parks accommodate longer-term camping. "We enjoyed our stay in the winter months (Feb - April) and it was really nice. Nearest town for groceries is 10 min away but you'll have to travel to Greensboro for bigger stores," shares Bri N. about Lake Reidsville.
