Green Lakes State Park Campground in Fayetteville provides modern amenities in a rustic setting, making it a popular base for exploring the New Woodstock area. Campsites feature electric hookups at every site with several full hookup options available. The 69-acre glacial lake reaches depths of over 195 feet, creating the distinctive blue-green color visible throughout the park. Camping season runs from mid-May through early October, with peak summer months requiring reservations well in advance.
What to do
Swimming in natural waters: Green Lakes State Park offers a guarded beach area with cool, refreshing water. "This is a very nice campground. There are many sites with electric available at every site. Swimming is available at the large beach. You can rent a kayak and enjoy the beautiful lake," notes Cindy H.
Hiking diverse trails: Robert H. Treman State Park features multiple waterfalls accessible via well-maintained trails of varying difficulty. "There are miles of trails to explore. The rim trail can be very strenuous," explains Matt G. Sites remain relatively flat with partial shade, making it comfortable for summer camping.
Boating opportunities: Delta Lake State Park allows personal watercraft access with a dedicated boat launch near camping areas. "We had a waterfront hookup! So pretty especially in the morning with the sunrise. There's a few steps down to a gravel beach and an expansive view of the delta lake," reports Tris W., highlighting the convenience for campers with boats.
What campers like
Private, wooded sites: Bowman Lake State Park offers secluded camping with good separation between sites. "This campsite was beautiful. It was very secluded and in the woods, right next to the lake as well. I enjoyed how spread out this campground is compared to most and the location is beautiful," explains Katarina M.
Clean shower facilities: Chenango Valley State Park maintains well-kept bathhouses with hot water. "Pretty good restrooms/showers. Water spigots on the loops and more water at the dump station," notes Mary S., who appreciated the convenience when traveling through.
Year-round recreational options: Taughannock Falls State Park provides activities across seasons. "Cool Waterfall with a nice short easy hike," shares Alex B. The park remains accessible for winter hiking when most glamping options near New Woodstock close for the season.

Seasonal limitations: Empire Haven operates a clothing-optional camping area with unique accommodations. "We've camped in two rustic cabins over the years. The facility operates primarily during summer months.
Noise considerations: Sites along main roads may experience traffic noise. "Taughannock falls is very cute and small area. Close to the waterfall," notes Katarina M., but some campers report highway noise at certain sites.

Tips from RVers
Hookup availability: Delta Lake State Park offers premium waterfront sites with electric service. "It got really windy at night which was nice to keep the bugs away. There is a water full station when you enter but there are also a couple water spigots in our loop," notes Tris W.
Site leveling challenges: Ta-Ga-Soke Campgrounds requires careful site selection for larger rigs. "The site was good size and included a picnic table and a fire ring. Site however was very close to other sites and not very private," reports Tate T. While offering water access, some sites require additional leveling blocks.
Dump station access: Green Lakes State Park provides convenient sanitary facilities. "There are some sites with full hook-up available and also specific areas that allow pets. There is a camp store, laundry room, recreation room, playgrounds and much more," notes Cindy H.
