Good for one night

Agree with the previous reviews. We stayed with our van and the space was ok, although tricky to find a flat surface. Fees still as shown in the previous pictures.

Not for RVs unless you like backing up from the main road.

Agree with Dexter. Pretty setting, creek running nearby. Can do fair amount of walking since railroad is no longer used. But constant traffic noise from I-15 can be a real drawback unless one is deaf.

SiteThere is only one camp site would be crowed with more than one camper.

Frequently Asked Questions

What recreational activities are available at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

The primary activity is fishing, as the name suggests. Additionally, there's a creek running nearby for water enjoyment. Walking and hiking opportunities are available on the old railroad bed that's no longer in use. Wildlife watching and nature observation are also possible activities in this natural setting.

What are the camping fees at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

The camping fee is $12.00 per night for visitors with a valid fishing license. Those without a fishing license pay $18.00 per night. There is a 7-day maximum stay limit. Remember to bring cash for payment as there are no on-site registration facilities.

Is Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site suitable for RVs?

This site is not particularly RV-friendly. The space is tight with limited room for turning around larger vehicles. Small vans can fit with careful maneuvering to find a flat surface, but larger RVs would likely find it challenging to navigate and set up at this location. Consider a smaller vehicle if planning to stay here.

Are there trash facilities at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

No, there are no trash bins at the site. Pack-out all garbage and follow Leave No Trace principles when camping at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site.

What is the noise level like at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

Be prepared for consistent traffic noise from nearby Interstate 15. The highway proximity creates a constant sound backdrop that can detract from the natural setting. If peace and quiet are priorities for your camping experience, this may not be the ideal location.

How many campsites are at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site offers just one campsite. The site includes a single picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse. The space is somewhat tight, especially for turning around vehicles, but can accommodate a van if you can find a flat surface. This is a very small, minimalist camping area primarily designed for anglers.

Are reservations required for Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

No reservations are accepted. The single campsite is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Given that there's only one site, arriving early or having a backup plan is advisable, especially during peak fishing seasons.

What amenities are available at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

Amenities at this fishing access site are very basic. There's one picnic table, one fire ring, and one outhouse. No potable water, electricity, or other facilities are available. The site is primitive and designed primarily for fishing access rather than as a full-service campground.

How long can I stay at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

There is a 7-day maximum stay limit at this fishing access site. This policy helps ensure fair access to the limited camping space for all visitors.

How is the natural setting at Prickly Pear Fishing Access Site?

The site offers a pretty natural setting with a creek flowing nearby.
