Best Cabin Camping near Stockton, MO

Cabin options near Stockton State Park include rustic and modernized accommodations equipped with varied amenities. Stockton State Park Campground provides cabin lodging with access to the lake and marina facilities, while Arrowhead Point RV Park & Cabins offers more fully-furnished options with utilities. "Level sites with full hookups. 30,50 amp, water, sewer on every site. Owners are really nice, and keep everything well maintained," noted one visitor about the Arrowhead Point cabins. Both locations maintain clean facilities with basic amenities, though specific cabin interiors vary by location.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Pittsburg Area Campground at Pomme de Terre State Park features cabin rentals with electric hookups and lake views, while Springfield Route 66 KOA provides more standardized cabin accommodations with additional amenities. Cabin reservations are essential during summer months, particularly for waterfront properties. Pet policies vary significantly between locations, with some properties like Arrowhead Point welcoming pets while others restrict them. Most cabins require advance booking, especially during peak seasons when lake activities are popular.

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Cooking arrangements vary widely—some cabins offer basic kitchenettes while others provide only fire rings outside. The camp stores at Stockton State Park and Springfield Route 66 KOA offer essential supplies and firewood. General stores in surrounding communities supplement what's not available at campgrounds. Refrigeration is limited in more rustic cabins, so coolers are recommended for perishables. Evening Star RV Park and B Berry Farms both offer cabin options with varying levels of furnishings and cooking facilities, requiring different levels of camper preparation.

    Nice little campground

We rented a cabin and it was very nice and rustic feeling although I feel the amenities in the cabin could have been way better for example there was no mini fridge no kitchen or sink that was all outside in another area no couch no TV there was free Wi-Fi

    Nice secluded spots

Two parks in one. The Hermitage and The Pittsburgh. We chose the 400 loop of Pittsburgh for its secluded spots. Spaces are not stacked on top of each other. You’re in the woods so take bug spray. Level paved lots to choose from. Fire rings and covered picnic tables. Lots of shade.

Pittsburg Area Campground — Pomme de Terre State Park

    Our First Popup Adventure

Our first camping adventure in the popup took us to Pomme de Terre State Park on Father’s Day of 2017. Pomme de Terre State Park is one State Park that is two completely separate campgrounds, split in half by Pomme de Terre lake. When booking pay attention to whether you are on the Hermitage side or the Pittsburgh side. Each campground has it’s own camp store, swim beach, boat launch, and sanitary disposal station.

We have camped three separate times at Pomme de Terre with all three campsites being in the 400 loop on the Pittsburgh side. This loop has been chosen due to its proximity to the bathrooms and the playground, these are key when having a 4-year-old. This loop is located in the woods with nice spacing between sites. Each site comes with a fire ring and covered picnic table. I will warn you that some of the sites on the left when you first pull into the loop are on an incline, so bring plenty of leveling pads with you if you have a trailer. If you are wanting to be close to the water this loop is not the one you will want to reserve. I would look more in the 300 loop, though those sites are gravel in case that is an issue for you, or look at the Hermitage side. The bathroom and shower house located at the entrance to loop 400 are some of the nicest that we have experience while staying in a state park. They are clean and well maintained. Located throughout the loops are vault toilets if you choose a site farther away from the main bathroom.

We enjoy the campground and marina on the Pittsburgh side. The marina is stocked with some camp essentials as well as a café for a quick bite. They also have boats, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards for rent, for a list a prices here is the Marina’s website www.mofunparks.com. This is one of our son’s favorite stops on the trip, they have a nice selection of ice cream. The size of the marina is not large, and if it is busy the inside can be very cramped. We do prefer the swim beach on the Hermitage side it is located along a peninsula with ample room on busy days, as opposed to the Pittsburgh swim beach that is located in a cove without as much space.

When traveling between the two state parks you will travel through Hermitage, Missouri. They have a Dollar General, gas station, and some restaurants. I cannot speak for the restaurants, but we have used the Dollar General for supplies that did not make the trip. Located at the junction of Hwy 64 and Hwy 64B, just outside of the Pittsburgh side of the park, you will find an old building directly across from White’s Marine Center that is selling camp wood. The person that sells the wood will be out there sometimes, but if they are not, there is drop box mounted to one of the poles to leave money in. I was able to purchase a wheelbarrow load for $8.00, which is a much better deal than the small bundle they sell in the park for $5.00.

Pomme de Terre State Park has become a family favorite campground. We will be making a voyage here every year to continue exploring.

    Quiet and Cozy Campground

My girlfriend and I stayed here during our road-trip through MO. The owners Brandon and Theresa were very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. They gave us a tour of the farm when we arrived and let us pick out which camp site we wanted. The camp site had everything we needed including a fire pit, grill, picnic table, water spout and bath room nearby. We enjoyed picking black berries right next to our campsite to have with breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend staying here with your family or significant other!

Driving through Missouri needed a quiet place to stay. We stayed at Honey Berry Hideout, it has metal fire ring and grill. The owners were very friendly , informed us amenities , they have coffee pot , small stove to use in a barn in walking distance, bathrooms and showers for small fees. Family friendly with large area for kids to play.

    Stockton State Park Campground

    Highly recommend

We camped in campground 1 right next to the play ground. Super clean, had a view of the lake. Within walking distance of the marina. Everyone was very friendly. My only complaint is the first night we had super noisy neighbors. I'm all for music and a good time but past quiet hours I think one should tone it down a bit. I assumed the host would tell them to be quiet. It did take me complaining the next morning, and then the host went to talk to them. Rest of the trip was smooth as can be! Kayak trails on the lake...beautiful clean swimming beaches. Can't wait to go back :)

    Berry-good Time

Found this place on a whim through Missouri. Was looking for dispersed camping and not much popped up in the area. So campgrounds were next up.

This place already had a few good reviews, so I called them up. Immediately knew this was going to be the place. Super nice folks, clear communication, and even showed us the grounds upon arrival.

Lots of amenities for just staying a single night. Everything you need and want in a campground, but not a KOA or Yogi packed site.

Overall 5/5, cheap, friendly, abundance of things to do, and quiet (when I stayed).

P.S. Depending on which site you choose… the cost varies, but still cheap. There is lighting, power outlets, tables, fire rings and outdoor grill, along with many other fun child-friendly things.

Guide to Stockton

Cabins near Stockton, Missouri provide lodging options within Missouri's western Ozark Highland region at approximately 925 feet elevation. The area experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging 75-90°F from June through September. Winter cabin rentals require extra preparation as temperatures often drop below freezing between December and February.

What to do

Kayaking marked trails: Stockton Lake features designated kayak routes that allow paddlers to explore the shoreline. At Stockton State Park Campground, "They have some pretty cool kayak marked trails on the lake. Beautiful sail boats to see as well!" according to Katie R.

Swimming at beach access: Multiple swimming areas exist around Stockton Lake though terrain varies. "Several beach access spots but very rocky with no sand beaches near the state park campground," notes Lauren H. about water entry points at Stockton State Park.

Fishing opportunities: The lake provides excellent fishing conditions year-round. At Pittsburg Area Campground, "Fishing is great! My kids love it too!" reports Tiffany H., making this activity suitable for families.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Multiple campgrounds maintain exceptionally clean restrooms. "Cleanest restrooms I've seen. Great trails," writes Katie R. about Stockton State Park. This level of maintenance extends to shower facilities at many sites.

Lake accessibility: Cabin rentals with water access rank highest among visitor preferences. "The sites on the lake are awesome and large," notes Tiffany H. about Pittsburg Area Campground, where many cabins offer direct paths to the water.

Friendly staff: Camp hosts provide essential support for visitors. "Owners are very friendly and ready to help provide anything we needed," reports Hannah B. about her stay at B Berry Farms & Co., highlighting the importance of attentive management.

What you should know

Site privacy varies: Many cabins and campsites have limited separation. "The sites are quite close together with little privacy and minimal shade from the trees," explains Hayley G. about Stockton State Park Campground. Consider booking during weekdays for fewer neighbors.

Hookup limitations: Several cabin areas offer only partial utilities. "Great camping spot with easy access to the lake and marina however there isn't any water or sewer hookup on the camp site. Almost boondocking with electric hookup and a dump station," reports Joe J. about his experience at Stockton.

Seasonal pricing: Off-season rates can be significantly lower. "Real nice park especially for what we paid. $8.00 for electric only per night. Senior rate off season, $2.00 discount," notes Gary P., though cabin rates typically run higher than campsites.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature play areas for children. At Stockton State Park, "Both loops had decent playgrounds for the kids," reports Hayley G., making these sites preferable for families with younger children.

Beginner-friendly walk-in sites: For families transitioning from cabins to tent camping, consider walk-in sites. "They looked awesome and were a short 5 minute walk from the parking. A great beginner site for walk-in camping and there were carts at the start of the trail for your gear," observes Hayley G. about Stockton State Park.

Kid-friendly water areas: Look for cabins near shallow swimming spots. At Springfield Route 66 KOA, "The staff was friendly and the camp was clean," reports Lindsey S., though families should note the proximity to train tracks mentioned in other reviews.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Many cabin and RV areas require careful positioning. At Arrowhead Point RV Park & Cabins, "Level sites with full hookups. 30,50 amp, water, sewer on every site," reports Jason C., though other campgrounds may require more adjustment.

Storm shelters: Weather considerations affect cabin selection. "This park has a very nice in ground pool along with a storm shelter which gives piece of mind in crazy Missouri weather," notes Amanda C. about Cozy Corner RV Park, an important safety feature during severe weather seasons.

Reservation timing: Book well in advance for peak periods. "Increase in the number of RVers has this place packed so a quick call and reservation to hold the site is recommended," advises Dan & Penny F. about Cozy Corner RV Park, advice that applies to cabin rentals throughout the region.
