It’s more for locals

I would have given a 5 star rating other than the showers are summer camp style meaning you share with everyone but there are curtains but no privacy now for the sites you have 50 amp water and sewer and no one bothers you compared to my horrible experience at wappapello lake at peoples creek and Redman I am appalled at the way I was treated by the volunteers at both lakes they are racist and will never go back!!! one other thing is here you also share with a cemetery there is one right next to my camp with in walking distance my kids did not like that but not a bother to me and I was treated so much better here they let u camp and don’t care the color of your skin or your age what’s funny though is the gentleman wasn’t even part of our group but she thought he was at Redman lake I never told her differently cause it shouldn’t have mattered oh but it did so to have the volunteers like that the army corps should really be aware of how there volunteers are treating guests it’s terrible but anyways back to this one other than the few things that I stated it’s a good park and I would come back!

Greenville Recreation Area COE

A great COE Park with full hook ups. With the Geezer pass$12.00 a night. All sites are nice& level with asphalt drives& concrete pads or patio area. Large patio area about 10 x 30' with fire pit& lantern pole. Great ATT& good Verizon. No OTA TV. Sites are well spaced and mostly sunny, with some shaded. A newer shower house in one loop& clean pit toilets throughout the rest. Park was relatively busy for the first week in November with rigs coming& going each day. This was Sunday thru Wednesday. Park was at about 1/3 to 1/2 capacity. The newer, larger loop was more crowded because that is where the shower house is. Great historic town with nice bike/walking paths through the level park on the St. Francios River. We were camped close to the historic cemetery, site#11. We camped at Greenville Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

A great COE campground

If you've camped before at a COE campground you expect a quality experience. This one is no exception. It has paved drives and paved sites with a concrete pad for the fire ring and picnic table along with a hook for your lantern. They are also full hookups.

The place is very clean as well as the restrooms. There are plenty of things to do right from the campground including a paved bike trail into Greenville. We spent two days in early November and just about had the park to ourselves.

Cell service was adequate but not great.

Super cool and quiet

We picked this campground at random. Cell service was not good at all which was great! There is a lot of history to explore at this campground which made it super interesting. The town is close by if you need anything from Dollar General and there is a nice little walk up food joint across from it.

Great place to camp!

The Greenville Recreation Campsite has much shade, level concrete pads, a picnic table and fire ring at each of the 100+ camp sites. There are walking and biking trails. Boating, swimming & fishing access is available at nearby Lake Wappapello. The campsite is actually located in the area of Old Greenville. The city was moved when the Corps of Engineers built Wappapello Dam and this area was flooded. There are still old foundations of the court house and various homes. There are also markers telling the history of the area. Truly a neat place to visit!

Great for kids and a few nights

Sites are paved easy to get into and very level. Power and water both worked very well and the dump station had easy access. 3 playground areas and a neat old civil war cemetery are located in the camping area. It is a part of the trail of tears and there are lots of historical things to look at. Only negative was the trash situation, I think due to the current COVID situation they might be struggling to keep up with the pick ups. Current construction looked like the were going to double in size this summer. Easy access to the highway. Camp host was a little grumpy but we all have bad days so not a big deal.

Beautiful campground

The sites are large and have a big concrete pad attached to the drive. Lots of bike/walking trails. We were in the very back of the campground and it was quiet. The only thing missing was somewhere to swim or sit in the water. Lots of water there, but nowhere to sit in the river or lake.
