Very quiet all thru the day and night. Friendly people all round. 5 min to walmart, tractor supply, and many restaurants and gas stations. Spacious lots so you arent right up on each other. Theres rental lots and cabins by the night, week and month. Theres saved spaces for those who just want a pulling over night. Theres big rigs here and small ones. Vintage and brand new. These are friendly people you can sit a chair or 2 outside and not have someone pounding on your door at 7am yelling about a toy or a chair left out all night. This is our face in canton so far. Roosevelt State Park Campground

    Excellent state park!

We loved our stay. Beautiful park, nice campsites, heated and clean bathroom, best spots are on the lake. We stayed in spot 15 and it was beautiful.

A couple reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars, even though we loved it. First, we reserved a spot weeks prior and someone was in it when we arrived around 5pm. The park was very helpful and accommodating once we found the right phone number. I wish they would put signs on the reserved spots to avoid the hassle.

Second, they do not sell firewood here anymore, but there is a gas station across the street that does.

Also, the fire ring and the table/grill are on opposite sides on the parking spaces and there are no cooking grates on the fire ring unfortunately. But the grill was very clean!

But seriously, would recommend!!! Just want to help our fellow campers out with some details of the digs!

    Roosevelt State Park Campground

This is what a State Park should look like!

Smooth paved roads, level concrete pads, picnic tables that will seat 8, fire ring and grill at each site.. This park has been completely remodeled and they did a fantastic job. Pull thru's and back in's available.

We stopped on our return trip home for one night, so we did not check out the bathhouse/showers.

    Peaceful & beautiful!

Such a nice RV Park. We stayed in spot #1 and had a beautiful view of the lake, nice fire pit and picnic table. Our kids and babies loved feeding the ducks and walking around the lake. It was really clean and beautiful. Staff was super helpful and friendly. My only wish was that there was a playground for our kids but they said they have one ordered for this year. :). Can’t wait to stay again!

    Roosevelt State Park Campground

    Many available activities

After nixing two flooded campgrounds, we arrived here at 5:30 pm on a Saturday in late February hoping there would be an available spot; we were lucky that just a handful were left (out of 109) as there was a bluegrass festival going on!

The campground is divided into an “old” section and a “new” one. Arriving after hours directs you to the office and the old section, however, the office was closed when we arrived. We flagged down a ranger, who directed us to the first available spot and told us to pay the next morning. The rate of $16 (senior rate) was very reasonable for an electric hook-up, although there was nothing special about the spot. Premium lakefront sites go for $28 (no senior discounts given) and these were nicer. Not all the sites are level but they are generous in size. Laundry is available in both campgrounds.

We drove to the new section the next morning (which is several miles away around the other side of Shadow Lake). Aside from the lakefront sites having closer access to the lake, we could see no appreciable difference between the old and new sections. There is a reasonable separation between the sites, with some trees. The picnic tables in both sections appeared to be very weathered. The restrooms/showers were ok – the soap dispenser was empty, and some very disrespectful campers made one of the two toilets unusable (not the fault of the campground).

There are also cabins and a motel, plus a group campsite, but we did not check these out. Activities (again, we did not avail ourselves of any of them) include a sports field, water slide and pool, disc golf, boating (there is a boat launch), and a performing arts center.

Guide to Ludlow

Roosevelt State Park Campground offers cabin accommodations near Ludlow, Mississippi, situated in a forested region around Shadow Lake. Cabin options range from rustic to deluxe with varying levels of amenities and access to outdoor activities. The park's elevation provides natural shade from mature trees throughout the camping areas, with most cabins positioned to take advantage of lake views or wooded settings.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Roosevelt State Park Campground features a lake stocked with bass. "Good bass fishing," notes camper Brad O. The park's fishing areas are accessible from multiple points including dedicated fishing piers.

Water recreation: The park offers swimming in both the lake and a pool with water slides. "Lot's to do here. Hiking, boating, pool, water slides," reports Jason R. Pool access requires an additional fee but provides a refreshing alternative to lake swimming.

Hiking trails: Marked woodland paths wind through the park's natural areas. "There are trails close by that were nice to walk on," shares Danielle L. Trail markers consist of paint on trees to help with navigation through the wooded terrain.

What campers like

Peaceful atmosphere: Turkey Creek Water Park offers a quieter cabin camping experience with lakefront views. "Small campground on a lake. Pretty and quiet. Recent work on campsites to create level sites," writes Nelwyn B. The setting allows for relaxation away from more crowded parks.

Lake views: Lakefront cabin sites provide direct water access. "I stayed in site 13 which was right on the lake. The view was beautiful. The spot was really large with plenty of room," according to Danielle L. These premium sites fill quickly during summer months.

Recreational variety: Beyond standard cabin amenities, Yogi on the Lake - Jellystone Pelahatchie offers extensive family activities. "So much fun, so much to do! We stayed on the lakes edge, had visits from geese, ducks, rabbits and squirrels. Beautiful and very clean area. Pool, slides, jumping pad, playground, mini golf, tennis, basketball, planned activities each day for family fun," describes Shirley B.

What you should know

Maintenance conditions: Cabin facilities vary in age and condition across different parks. "Been camping there for years. Some of the sites are pretty rough and in need of repair and they are working on them in stages," notes Andy B. about Roosevelt State Park.

Seasonal closures: DLo Water Park operates with seasonal limitations for some amenities. "We kayaked the long leg of the Strong River from here. Excellent kayaking. The campground was extremely crowded/ showers were old and dirty but overall it was a good experience," reports Zack M.

Reservation requirements: Cabin rentals typically require advance booking. "When we called, the host answered right away and we booked the last spot they had for the night," explains Lou A. about securing accommodations. Holiday weekends and summer months fill particularly fast at most area parks.

Tips for camping with families

Water park attractions: Yogi on the Lake offers water activities appealing to children. "We swam in the pool one day, but the filter was not working, so the water was disgusting, I couldn't even see my feet, and the bottom of the pool was covered in sand," cautions Jackie H. Always check current facility conditions when booking.

Kid-friendly events: Seasonal activities cater specifically to families with children. "Very clean! The slides were awesome and the tent camping were good. Would def like to go back once it cools down," comments Jeremy T. about Jellystone Park.

Safety awareness: Natural water bodies require supervision. "There are a lot of poisonous snakes at this spot so be aware of your surroundings," warns Tiffany S. about DLo Water Park. Parents should maintain vigilance around water features and wooded areas.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Wendy Oaks RV Resort offers cabin alternatives with convenient amenities. "We stayed in spot #1 and had a beautiful view of the lake, nice fire pit and picnic table. Our kids and babies loved feeding the ducks and walking around the lake," shares Whitney S.

Utility connections: Most cabin rentals near Ludlow provide basic electrical service, though hookups vary. "Our site was a very tight pull thru site. We definitely wouldn't of been able to pull out if the park was full. The site was very sloped so getting in the camper was difficult," notes Ashley S. about navigating tight quarters.

Seasonal considerations: Temperature fluctuations affect comfort in cabin accommodations. "Grew up coming here for the summer to fish, swim, ski and use the water park. It is an older park but with that being said it has many years left of good camping," mentions Bruce F. about Roosevelt State Park. Spring and fall offer milder temperatures with fewer crowds than peak summer months.
