Within Superior National Forest, Windy Lake Rustic Campground & Back Country Sites provides a remote camping experience managed by the US Forest Service. The facility prohibits pets and requires campers to secure food with rope due to wildlife presence. Cell service is limited in this backcountry location.
Access involves navigating forest roads to reach the dispersed sites. Campers need to forage for firewood from standing dead trees and fallen branches, as supplies are not provided. The area offers hiking opportunities and maintains a solitary atmosphere away from developed amenities. For additional options, see camping near Superior National Forest.
