Best Cabin Camping near Alto, MI

Cabin rentals in the Alto region include both rustic and modern accommodations at sites like Tyler Creek and Indian Valley Campground. Electric hookups are standard in most cabins, with full bathrooms available in premium units while more basic options require guests to use shared facilities. Sleeping arrangements typically feature bunk beds or queen mattresses, with some locations providing small refrigerators and microwaves. "The cabins are clean and nice, the view of the lake is beautiful. My 6 children had a great time here," notes feedback about Scalley Lake Park's accommodations. Several properties offer furnished cabins with tables, chairs, and basic cookware, though amenities vary significantly between locations.

Rustic cabin options throughout the region provide varying levels of comfort, from simple shelters to fully equipped cottages. Welcome Woods Family Campground maintains lakefront cabins popular with families seeking water access, while Bertha Brock County Park offers more secluded woodland units. Most locations require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when cabin availability becomes limited. Pet policies differ substantially—Double RR Ranch RV Resort and Hidden Ridge permit dogs in select cabins with additional cleaning fees, while others maintain strict no-pet rules. A camper described their experience at Double RR: "There is a river to explore and we always get a riverfront site. Rivers are just fun for fishing, throwing stones, canoeing."

Visitors should verify what supplies are included with each cabin rental. Bedding and linens are rarely provided, requiring guests to bring their own sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels. Kitchen facilities vary widely—some cabins include only a fire ring outside, while others feature small kitchenettes with basic cooking equipment. Camp stores at locations like Indian Valley and Welcome Woods stock essential items, though selection is limited primarily to snacks, firewood, and basic toiletries. Toilet paper, cleaning supplies, flashlights, and food storage containers are recommended additions to packing lists. Drinking water access points are available at most cabin sites, though carrying extra is advisable during peak summer months.

    Ed H. Henning Park

Nice campground, very convenient for river trips.

We stay here at least once a year and do an annual river trip with a bunch friends. It's a nice campground with a small park, pond, full bathrooms, group sites, and even a couple small cabins. It's great for river trips since we go upstream and can float all the way into camp and no worry about driving. We make a run the next morning for coffee and to pick up the vehicles left at the launch.

    Sleepy Hollow State Park Campground

    Beautiful Park

Rangers working the area are very friendly. Many options to choose from in terms of camping, from rustic, tent to fully functional cabin lodging. The park is very large, so it is always good to have a vehicle able to drive to the trails and beach. Campsites are decent sized, can fit probably 3 four person tents per site, which includes a concrete firepit and picnic table. In the north campsites there is a lot of tree covering, and there are a lot of walnut trees that were shedding a lot this time of the year. Bathrooms are well spaced between the campsites you, and have showers along with some vending machines outside of them. Spigots are scattered throughout and are very accessible. Be sure to bring at least 100 feet of extension chord if you want electricity, because the power ports are not as accessible from some areas. Overall very pleasant campground.

    Oak Grove Resort & Campground

Great RV Resort close to Lake Michigan

Clean family friendly RV Resort. Pool, hot tub, modern restrooms and showers, playground, laundry and bike rentals. I believe all the sites are full hookup, cable t.v. and wi/fi. Less than a mile to Lake Michigan and close to boat launch and Lake Macatawa.

    East Lake Camping

    Great Hospitality

Nice and cozy little campground in the middle of beautiful rolling farmlands. First time passing through and found it conveniently located within 40 mins of Holland and Saugatuck without needing to get on the highway. The woman at check in was extremely courteous and helpful. We stayed 2 nights over the weekend. Most people here are seasonal, occupying almost all the lakefront sites. We may have seen one lakefront available for renters. Everyone was polite, friendly and quiet after quiet hours. The sites are very small, not much privacy, but well kept. There are more spacious sites available on the upper grassy loop. Well kept grounds throughout with beautiful flowers. The bathrooms were wonderful with great hot water and water pressure. Pretty lake with swimming beach and playground lovely for day use. We would stay again. We stayed with 34’ camper inner lakefront.  I did share a picture of waterfront sites, the one vacant spot is the only site available to rent right now.  The rest are seasonal.

    Cold Brook County Park

    Nice little county park!

29 campsites pretty close together with old growth trees interspersed around the campground. Fishing pier and boating, playground area, and beach. No longer has primitive camping. Some hiking trails...short. is next to a busy road, so traffic all night. Staff was great! Showers and bathrooms cleaned multiple times a day. Pet friendly. Would stay here again!

    Brower Park Campground

    Large Family Fun Campground

There is something for everyone here. Tent, camper, or RV and fun for all ages with everything from 3 playgrounds, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and tennis courts, to a boat launch, fishing pier, and fish cleaning station. There is also a fairly large swimming area. The showers are actually nice and clean! The restrooms were surprisingly clean and modern as well. Firewood is available in bundles or loose and you stack it yourself. There are numerous picnic areas throughout the campground. There are picnic tables and fire rings at every site and hook up such as electric and water vary. Kids are riding their bikes all over, fishing, playing at playgrounds, the beach, everywhere. Everyone was very friendly. You probably don’t necessarily need a sleeping pad or air mat if you’re in a tent, but they’re always nice. The mosquitos weren’t bad at all! We stayed at site #226. You do need a county park pass, $6/day until 10pm or $25/year.

    Hoffmaster State Park Campground

    Nice campground

Not a bad place. Pretty quiet, other than the usual occasional idiot. Decent sites. ADA sites concrete, regular sites grass, sandy, or a combo of both. Pretty average spacing for a state park, except when a doofus parks sideways in a back-in site. (Wish the MI DNR would put a stop to that ). Typical MI state park sites, electric, fire ring and a picnic table. Most sites shaded, completely to some. Will return.

Any grocery shopping you'd want is within 2 to 5 miles. (Aldi, Meijer, Kroger) Fast food too, if you need it.

Verizon and T-Mobile service sucks here. No park wifi.

    Sleepy Hollow State Park Campground

    Absolutely great time!

Walk-in site F was literally the perfect campsite. Fully secluded (except a few curious hikers who stopped in around lunchtime), easy 1 mile walk from parking lot, can kayak right up to it on the calm lake, hammock posts, picnic table, fire pit, gorgeous night sky views. A+ and 10/10

    Tyler Creek

Give them at least a weekend!

Campground is small but got to know owners just recently purchased last year and are on the uphill of making this a great little place. Great customer service and friendly faces. Other families we met at the pool were super friendly and inviting like we had been coming here for years. Bathrooms, crafts shed and such are a little run down but again optimistic that this new family will do great things. Weekend golf cart rentals for 90 bucks which is a steal! Also the clubhouse for the golf course has a little common area with games and tv plus the bar makes great and cheap drinks which is a fun things for the adults to do! Great little family park, quiet and small but worth at least a weekend!
