Our Vision Farm is a small family homestead recently relocated to beautiful Maine!

Our 16 spacious acres are made up from our 1870's Farmhouse, one of the originals built in Kingman, Maine as well as a field that we will be planting our future Honeyberry Orchard, Pasture Raised Meat Chickens and Growing a Market Garden to stock the Farm Stand. The remaining acreage is wooded and perfect for foraging or walking down the trail to see the train tracks. Nearby around Kingman and surrounding towns there are many spots for fishing, swimming and hiking as well as atv trails. The two closest major towns for shopping or restaurants are Lincoln Maine or Houlton Maine. We are about an hour and 15 minutes away from Bangor Maine.

We love the peace and tranquility of our little farm in rural Kingman, Maine and are excited to share the property with you! Grass parking only, not paved. We have septic, a hose for water and 30 amp electric available. No wifi.

Our property is also our home and we have a farm stand open to the public. Some traffic, customers and ongoing farm projects are to be expected around the property.

        Somewhat secluded but Quiet

Picked this location because it was close to several locations we could take day trips to the coast.

Visited Bar Harbor, Eastport and several places in between.

Because of those activities, we spent most of our time here sleeping and preparing 1-2 meals a day.

Evenings here were pretty quiet and not much traffic after dark. Bathroom was good but no water or garbage service.

        Amazing Beauty, Amazing Camping Experience

Stayed for two nights after Labor Day. Only one other camper in the park and we never saw them but occasionally we could hear a voice. Other than that, it was quiet.

There are about 9 campsites, each with a picnic table, a fire ring and a large camping and parking area for each site.

The best feature of this campground is the view. There is a Lake on both east and west sides of the camping area. Three sites are view of both lakes from the camp sites. I woke up to a view of one lake and my wife saw the other lake from our camper.

The campground has three pit toilets. The large size of the camp sites makes it feel more secluded than it is

We did hear something like a lumber mill operating one morning. Not sure what that was all about.

A Ranger stopped by and visited with us. He then offered us a brochure on the camping area we are planning to visit next. Nice customer service right at our camp site!

Despite taking place during the period of social distancing, everyone at the SF-160 campsite strictly followed the clearly posted epidemic prevention regulations. This created a safe and comfortable space for everyone. Experience Traffic Jam 3D right now!

        Cute Area

I stayed in a small site, just me and my vehicle. I asked for a quiet spot with elec and the site was perfect. It is basic, but more like what you would find at national parks, which I prefer MUCH MORE. My spot was shaded and level enough to have a tent, vehicle, chairs and table (not provided at my site), and they have a fire ring.

It isnt the usual RV sites that are sterile and squished in like sardines, so if thats what you looking for, this isnt it.

I paid $36 for my night, on par with national/ state parks, but much cheaper than most commerical camping grounds.  The area is a little overpriced, so it was nice to stay somewhere reasonable, especially at the end of the season.

THere isnt wifi, my car (ATT) got better service than my phone (Tmobile).

The road is decent, maybe a few spots to watch out for, and they ask you to keep the speed down (5mph) so they are trying to take care of it (or not let it get torn up too much)

I didnt use the shower, but the bathroom was plumbed.

        Friendly But Very Close

What others have said is true. The staff were all very friendly and the pool and playground are well maintained. However, the spaces are very close together and there are no scenic views. The other drawback is the number of seemingly full time units. These units had wooden “improvements” over and around the campers indicating the RVs haven’t moved in a while and won’t move any time soon. Overall, it didn’t “feel” like a campground. It felt more like a mobile home park

        Beautiful quiet spot

We spent a few weeks here in the fall while passing through Maine. There is a private forested area on the property that is perfect for hiking and foraging. The best part is the farm stand where you can buy delicious fresh baked goods. Power/water/sewer worked great. We had full cell reception with T-mobile and Verizon. Farm dogs were very friendly and got along with our puppies. We will be coming back the next time we are in the area!

Great getaway, cannot wait to go back.

This was a great two day tent camping trip. KOA’s are not always known for their tent sites but this one has a decent amount of them and the DMZ area between the RV’s and the tents is adequate so your not pitching your tent right next to an RV: our campsite was slightly off the beaten path which was exactly what we wanted. Good quite relaxing weekend . They have recently installed a new pool here so if it gets hot you have that great amenity. They also have the mining for gems activity that you see at some KOA’s and all my kids enjoyed that. The bathrooms were super clean. Kids enjoyed finding frogs in all their ponds. They have also added two “glamping tents” which look nice. The family enjoyed this so much we plan on making this an annual trip to this specific campground. This used to be “my brother place” campground and from what I gather significant upgrades have been made. Disclaimer : I know one of the owners but my review is honest.

        Third lake machias

I have gone camping here a handful of times and it is so beautiful! Definitely far out there and can be difficult to find if you don’t know the area well. Little to no service as well. We canoe to the island and camp on that but there are spots you can get to without a boat we just prefer it there. Make sure to bring everything you need! There are fire rings but the ranges can be sticklers about having a fire permit. This has only happened once that we’ve been there though they usually just leave you alone. These are also free spots that are first come first serve. The bugs can be really bad here especially in the earlier summer months so definitely keep that in mind and bring bug nets. We have caught a ton of fish here as well. Super beautiful lake and remote spot perfect to get away and unplug for a bit.

        Solid remote camping

Wasn't sure what to expect, but went anyway. After turning off the highway you take a dirt road for about a mile until you see a sign for the campsites. (My sedan easily made it down the road)

There's a site immediately when you turn in, but about 2 minutes further you'll find a parking lot with what looked to me like 4 more campsites and a boat ramp.

2 sites were on the lake and the other 2 were behind the parking lot. The lot also had a porta-potty in it. 3 of those sites were taken, and none of the sites had much privacy so I took the one right off the road (I could see the road easily from the fire pit/table).

It was a little noisy from the other campers and lacked privacy, but it's a great spot for someone who just needs to pullover and crash.

        Quaint but adorable

The hosts, who just recently bought this campground are very kind and accommodating. It will eventually be a KOA.

We came in the fall, and the foliage was beautiful. There are many little areas to walk and explore in the campground.

We have a TT and our campsite had wifi, a fire ring, and full hookups. We have kids so we opted for a site close enough to watch them play on the playground.

The pull-through sites are long and have trees in between and around so still gives a feeling of privacy.

        Beautiful lake

Camped during Covid restrictions. Everyone seemed to be following the guidelines that were clearly posted by the campsite. The snack bar in the office/shop area was a great fallback plan if we were too lazy to cook, but wasn’t needed. People who ran the place were very accommodating. For some reason our fire ring and table were missing when we arrived, and they had replacements at the site within 30 minutes. They also delivered our wood to our campsite when I asked about where to purchase it while they delivered the missing items. Campsites were roomy enough, but set a bit close together.

        Pull-through sites are a joke!

I had hoped this campground would be amazing. It was our first camping trip of 2020 (amid COVID19). Sadly, we found it to be horrendously inadequate.

We traveled with family to this campground. We had two "pull-through" sites. These sites are a joke! There are six sites per road. There is literally no where to pull off of the camp road to set up your RV site. The RVs must be set up in the road! The tow vehicle can park off to the side once unhooked but the RVs in the middle sites of the camp road are pinned in. This could potentially be dangerous if there ever was an emergency!

If that's not bad enough, the sites are SUPER unlevel. Notice the photo in my review. We had to use so many leveling blocks to assist our auto-leveling system!!

The "pull-through" sites are literally on a hill. The sites small and there is no privacy from your neighbors.

When we arrived our sites were not clean at all. There was trash on the ground, as well as dog feces, and the grass was very tall.

Lastly, the dump station for the campground is on the side of the public roadway, at the entrance of the park….which is on the top of a huge hill.

The surrounding area is beautiful! We will certainly go back to the area but we will find a better campground the next time.

We will not return to this campground.

        Remote and scenic

Handful of spots, directly on the beach of a quiet lake. The road runs between middle and lower Unknowns and the scenery is wonderful. There is a pit toilet, shared by 8-10 spots. Strictly pack-in/pack-out. About 20 miles from paved road and 10 miles from spotty cell service.

No fee, first-come first served. These fill up FAST in the summer. Don’t worry - if it’s full when you arrive head to Duck Lake or Gassabias Lake camp sites. They don’t fill up (in my experience).

Bugs here can be THICK so be prepared.

Sites include picnic table and fire ring. Some are private and others are more exposed. There are also “group sites” on both sides of the road driving in, and they’re more wooded than the beach sites.

Our first viewing of Northern Lights was on the beach here. Super quiet, amazing sunsets and lots of wildlife.

A bit crowded but very family friendly. Lit site markers made it easy to find your site. Not great site vehicle parking. We went on a holiday weekend with lots of events planned. Family hayride was fun. Kids enjoyed riding bikes and using the game room. Pool was clean and in a central location. Quick easy walk on a path to store and small restaurant.

Stopped here for one night while passing through, water/electric sites for $35 and primitive tent sites for $21 (still has flush toilets and showers a short walk down the road). Super pet friendly! The people who run this place are absolutely incredible! I happed to stop in on a Friday night they were doing a bean bake with a BBQ, live music, and games for the kids! Would definitely come back anytime!

Third Machias Lake - Machias River Cooridor

        Serious Middle of Nowhere

To reach Third Machias Lake, take the Little River Road (which runs north off the Stud Mill Road along the east side of the Machias River). Turn left after 4 miles onto a side road that leads to the boat launch. This is a logging road, beware of log trucks. Pull OVER when you see one and let them pass. They are going really fast with really big loads of logs.

We park at the boat launch. There has usually been 2-3 campers there when we park there. There are porta potties there. But…. we don't stay there. Kayaks in, camping gear into the boats. Off we go. It can be a rough paddle if it's windy. This lake is HUGE and can and has gotten 2-3 foot waves when the weather is not so great. It usually takes us about an our to get to the island we camp on. It has no name I know if but, many people call the next island past ours, Fairy Island.

I actually prefer Fairy Island. it's more open, smaller island, and better trees for hammocks. Plus the breeze there is awesome but bring a big tarp and road to give yourself a wind block.

The kayaking in this area is the BEST I have had in Maine. It's an absolute wonderland of variety. We took many river routes going out of the lake, into other lakes, through marsh/swamp, portaging beaver dams and such. One time had to go over a dirt road. Hardly ever ran across a person except this one time, a guy who has a cabin on the main shore not too far from our island (maybe 20 min paddle) was out fishing and invited us to his cabin where he and his wife gave us drinks and made awesome food at their campfire. They were so cool. I hope I have a house like that at some point.

Anyway; if you crave adventure this area is for you. Just jump in your boat, with your gear, and hunt down an island of your choosing. There are a bunch out there. Beware of rocks even in deep water! The glacier rocks are absolute huge. See my photos for yourself. Respect nature. Don't leave your garbage out here, no one wants to see that!
