Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park features concrete pad sites with full hookups including 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. The park accommodates big rigs with spacious pull-through sites organized in rows named after pecan varieties. "We stayed 3 nights and it was a peaceful visit. There were plenty of sites to choose from, all on clean concrete pads," noted one visitor. Grand Ecore RV Park

Corps of Engineer/Red River Waterway Commission RV Park

A few miles from Natchitoches, LA and the nicest RV park in the area. Well spaced concrete pad level RV Sites with gated access. Combination pull through sand back in that accommodated our 45 ft. motorhome and Jeep towed. Rich with grassy areas and trees. Each site has a fire pit/BBQ and picnic tables. Next to boat launch that takes you to the Red River. Nice activity center available to all campers. Very organized concrete surrounded hookups next to pads. Playground and activity building with full kitchen open to all campers.

    Midway RV Park & Marina

Has everything I need including privacy

I was looking for a Louisiana location for an extended stay, I wanted to find a riverside, quiet location with large sites. A place where there was room for my travel trailer, boat, and truck. I found that and much more at Jones' Riverside Marina & RV Park.

It is in the country but not that far from the charming city of Natchitoches. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. There is a well-stocked store along with a carry-out restaurant (sit down part is closed due to covid-19). They have a free boat ramp and docks (very handy for me). The fishing is always good from the bank or a boat. My travel trailer is small but this facility is big rig friendly. I like the laid-back atmosphere and southern hospitality that is present here. This is not a huge, fancy, "resort", but those are not for me. I don't care for the crowds, noise, price, and many restrictions of those places. This RV Park emulates the real Louisiana!

South Toledo Bend State Park Campground

    ALMOST PERFECT

This was my first time at this beautiful state park. I will definitely come back! 3 days was not long enough to do everything! Our camper site was #46. It had a very large well kept wooden deck with a picnic table. The camper pad was long and concrete. It was slightly uneven, we used 3 blocks to level it off..There was also a large sand pad if you preferred a tent. A firepit was also there. Many of the other sites also had decks, with the same things available. It had water and electricity, a dump station, and very clean shower/restrooms . Also available were primitive camping sites with amazing views. Oh, did I mention that our site had a very short walk to a dock overlooking the beautiful lake. This dock had room for four boats! There are beautiful biking, and hiking trails, both concrete and dirt. Several play areas for the kids! There was a beach and swimming area, a nature center,, and playgrounds. The camp hosts were amazing and very helpful. The park was super clean, family and pet friendly, and a great price at 28 dollars a night. Happy camping!!

    Hidden Treasure RV Resort

    Great location

This campground is located on the Cotile lake in Boyce, Louisiana. And it's only about 8 or 10 minutes from I-49, but well worth the time. There is a small boat launch/fishing area. A couple of the guests are long term, but it is very quiet here. No matter what site you are in, you will need to level your rv. We are in site #17 and it overlooks the lake. Owners are fantastic. Highly recommend.

    Indian Mounds Recreation Area

    Quiet place to camp

Indian Mounds Campground is located in East Texas near the Texas-Louisiana border in the Sabine National Forest. It is a quiet and peaceful location to camp.

RV and tent campsites come with a fire ring, a picnic table, and potable water. Good views of the lake and situated in forest area. Nearby hiking, biking, swimming, and fishing. Not many campers in campground and that made for a great stay!

    Shady Lake RV Park

Feels like a Trailer Park rather than a Campground

I was out looking for a place to camp. I drove around the park. Some RV’s had dug in their sewer hoses for a more permanent living arrangement. There were other clues that verified some were living here very long term. You could tell some sites were set up like the people had been living there longer than a year.

While the owner was very nice and friendly, I just would not feel comfortable camping around people who live there long term.

I have since found out that this happens around Military Bases frequently. The reason is because it makes more financial sense for Military Personnel to not stay in base housing. Permanent Base Housing sucks their housing allowance away quickly. However, purchasing an RV and getting into a campground enables them to keep more of that money in their pockets.

This campground is near Fort Polk. I was told by one of the Army People that works there, this is what is happening with all of the RV resorts/campgrounds in the area. I understand what’s happening better now.

However, camping in a campground around a majority of the people that live in a place long term is more like moving into an old neighborhood. It’s equivalent to going to camp in a residential trailer park. That’s not camping. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Grand Bayou Resort

    Friendly and Quiet

I stayed at site 29 and the site was clean and level enough for my small camper. I went to plug in the power and the box was very old and no 30 amp plug. It only had a 50 amp and 110v plug. I have a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter but for some reason it was not in my box. I did have a 30 amp to 110v adapter so I had to go that route. There is a nice laundry, men and women’s bathroom with showers. On the men’s side of the 4 toilets 2 were out of service. The showers the water trickles out with little pressure but there was hot water. The showers along the walls need cleaning as there was mildew and maybe mold. The rest of the park was clean. The beach area and peers were very nice. There was dozens of people that are clearly living out here in the campground. Lots of them are really junked up. I paid $32 per night. You can tell this campground is minimally maintained given the broken toilets and unclean showers. The folks I met out here were super nice and very friendly. Fishing is really good and the swimming beach seemed very nice. They do have locked gates with security that makes rounds.

    Grand Ecore RV Park

    Great RV Park near Natchitoches

Park located about 10 minutes from Natchitoches, LA. Think park is operated by Red River Waterway Commission and they do a good job. Very spacious with some shady spots and lots of green grass. Roads are easy to navigate and concrete pads. I was able to park my 44 foot motorhome with a towed Jeep without unhooking. Full hookups and great WiFi. Boat launch next door.

Seasonal weather variations affect site conditions, with summer temperatures regularly reaching the mid-90s and higher humidity levels from June through September.

What to do

River recreation access: Colfax Recreation Area provides boat launch facilities on the Red River with docks and a dedicated fish cleaning station. "This is a quiet park right on the Red River. Sunsets are amazing over the river," reports Gary G. Many visitors enjoy kayaking, with Jessica B. noting, "We like to let the kids kayak in the oxbow at the landing."

Fishing opportunities: River Island RV Park sits directly on the Red River, providing access for anglers. "They have an amazing place out there! Something for everyone, mud riding, fishing, trail rides, and sits right on the gorgeous Red River!" writes Ty J. Most fishing sites are accessible year-round, with spring and fall offering the most comfortable temperatures.

Outdoor exploration: The region's proximity to Kisatchie National Forest provides hiking and trail options. Casey L. from Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park mentions, "We stayed here for 4 days due to proximity to Kisatchie National Forest for the Red Dirt Ultra." The forest offers multiple trails ranging from easy walks to more challenging terrain.

What campers like

Scenic waterfront views: Multiple campgrounds offer direct water views. Ty A. from Hidden Treasure RV Resort shares, "This campground is located on the Cotile lake in Boyce, Louisiana. We are in site #17 and it overlooks the lake." Waterfront sites typically fill up first during peak seasons.

Well-maintained facilities: Colfax RV Park receives consistent praise for cleanliness. Linda S. notes, "Large sites, few trees, manicured landscaping and clean bathhouses." Similarly, Shirley B. confirms, "Very clean and quiet park. Large sites with grill, fire pit, and picnic table."

Wildlife viewing: The natural setting provides opportunities for wildlife observation. Cat R. describes Hidden Treasure RV Resort as "Slightly hilly with beautiful mature trees, some which have several bird feeders attached! Wildlife galore." Bird watching is particularly good during spring and fall migrations.

What you should know

Site leveling considerations: Several RV sites in the area require leveling equipment. Cat R. notes about Hidden Treasure RV Resort, "Site 19 was quite unlevel, but nothing a few leveling blocks couldn't handle." Long-term resident presence: Some parks have a mix of short-term campers and long-term residents. Granny C. observed at Shady Lake RV Park, "Some RV's had dug in their sewer hoses for a more permanent living arrangement. There were other clues that verified some were living here very long term." Budget considerations: Camping costs vary across the region. Paula W. mentions about Colfax Rec Area, "at $32 a night, it was a little steep for me." Most campgrounds offer weekly rates that provide better value for extended stays.

Most RV sites near Cloutierville, Louisiana can accommodate medium-sized rigs, though accessibility varies by location.
