I spent a night there in April 2024 during a couple days of rain. It was pretty muddy, but that was to be expected. There is space for many campers and it's an easy, paved road up to the park. Cellular was pretty strong as well.
This park is fully paved with paved, well maintained dispersed camping. Reservatuons can be made online, which I'd suggest. The road up to the park is paved and well maintained. The sites are gorgeous with beautiful fire pits, metal picnic tables and a metal stand for a small grill. Plenty of sun for solar and gorgeous arid vegetation.
The area is beautiful with a winding road that takes you farther if you want to go. I drove in about .25 mile and found a nice spot that others had used as a camp site.
The road getting to Six Mile Canyon is a little rough due to ruts, but we did fine in a Class C. Just went really slowly.
We stayed 3 nights and ut was a peaceful visit. There were plenty of sites to choose from, all on clean concrete pads.
We rolled in without a reservation which led to a wonderful interaction with the gate people. My dog came in as well to entertain them while I selected a site.
I had the pick of many because it was February. I loved the spaciousness of each site leaving a lot of room between you and your neighbors.
The bathhouse was immaculately clean. I went in expecting a typical park shower room with spiders or bugs. There were NONE. The bathhouse was heated and a welcome chance to shower in something other than a matchbox.
I really can't recommend enough.
This location, the hosts, the animals and ponds all place you in a calm cocoon. My dog was thrilled to be allowed of leash. I loved the convenience of having electric and a beautiful pond view.
If you are an animal lover this is an easy 'yes' for a liason to stay.
I ended up in the hunting-open dispersed area. There is plenty of space to fit quite a few campers there, but the ground was soft. There were no gravel parking areas, etc. I read the reviews about bears and put my ring doorbell out in hopes of a glimpse, but no such luck.
We could hear local cows and dogs but nothing so loud as to disrupt our sleep.
We only stayed one night but we will be coming back. There are only a couple of sites big enough for large rigs, but my 30' motorhome fit easy enough. There is no fee, a toilet and water available.
We had a beautiful sunset and sunrise with only nature sounds to listen to.
