    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Cabin options near Versailles include Lake Shelby Campground and HomeGrown HideAways, both offering overnight accommodations with varying amenities. Lake Shelby provides cabins alongside lakefront views and basic electric service, while HomeGrown HideAways features more rustic cabin settings with limited electricity. Most cabins include standard furniture with beds and seating areas, though bathroom facilities are typically shared in central locations rather than in-unit. "Bathhouse is four units, each with sink, toilet and shower. Could have been a lot cleaner. In our five day stay, no deep clean, but always had TP," noted one visitor regarding Lake Shelby's facilities.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Three Springs Campground, General Butler State Resort Park, and Northern Kentucky RV Park all offer cabin accommodations with different comfort levels. Reservations are essential, particularly during summer months when facilities like Lake Shelby close to tent campers after October 31. Most locations allow pets in cabin areas, though HomeGrown HideAways maintains a no-pet policy. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, "The staff went above and beyond" at Three Springs Campground, which is located approximately 40 miles north of Versailles.

Most cabins require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities vary significantly between locations—some provide only basic fire rings while others offer small kitchenettes with refrigerators and microwaves. White Acres Campground and Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park maintain year-round cabin availability, while other facilities operate seasonally. On-site camp stores exist at several locations including Three Springs and General Butler, though selection is typically limited to essentials. Nicura Ranch in Berea offers more private cabin settings with drinking water and picnic tables but lacks electric hookups, creating a more primitive cabin experience.

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park

Great place for passers through or staycationers.

We have stayed in four sites her during the past couple of month. There are two walk-in sites (10 & 51). Both were pleasant, nearly level, close to amenities, but were under no shade. [Site 10 is presently inhabited by a large family with a sign that says “Camp Host out front. I have not seen them do anything for campers here, and the site is kept in disgraceful cluttered condition.] we next stayed on Lot 13, which backs up to the primitive campground. Quite nice, but beware: this site as well as about half of the other sites at this campground require the use of electrical and water extensions because the connections are on the “wrong” side of the RV, and quite a distance away. For Lot 13, I needed over 50’ of extensions. We then stayed on walk-in lot 51. I was able to “self permit” at the gate…it’s first come first served, no online reservations. Nice, but no shade. Finally, we’re on Lot 47. Eureka! This is my favorite so far. It’s one of the “premium sites” with wooden deck and nicer picnic table for only $2 additional per night. View is phenomenal, and it’s close enough to dumpsters and gatehouse. Notice that I didn’t mention anything about sewer hookups. That’s because there are none. There is a single, very popular dump station near the entrance/exit.
There are several miles of decent trails here, a swimming pool, putt putt golf, a pioneer museum, and a lodge with a good restaurant. The campground is easily accessible and is very kid and pet friendly. Nice sites for tent camping. Facilities are a bit dated, but clean and well maintained. All RV sites are back-in, and some are limited length. (Though some campers have rather cleverly managed to pull through a couple of the sites.) Some are quite unlevel.
Overall good family campground on rich historical site.

      General Butler State Resort Park

      Great Park to relax

Great little park located just far enough away to get away but close enough to town to run and get something if you forgot it.

Campground is pretty compact but stays pretty quiet. Two well maintained restrooms and shower facilities. Property has a lodge, cabins, pull through, full hook up, and water/power hook up, primitive spots, and day use shelters.

There is a pool and a restaurant are located at the lodge. There are a few hiking trails and a playground for the little ones. There is mini golf canoe and paddle boat rentals available as well.

Free wifi (speed is questionable) but we found 2-3 bars on T-mobile and AT&T.

We frequent this park since it is close to home and the smaller size makes it easier to turn the kids loose. They have enough to enjoy but not so much where we have to be active every second.

Final approach/exit to the park is very steep. Beautiful sites but fairly close together. Gravelled roads and pads surrounded by forest with three small streams cutting through. Sites are not particularly level. Bathrooms are clean and the hosts are attentive. The only trash bin is near the office by the out of service pool.

      Northern Kentucky RV Park

      Nice campground new huge playground

We stayed one night on our way to pigeon forge, tn. It was neat and orderly but right on I-75 and next to RR tracks . We pulled in right at dusk and left after we got up , so we didn’t have time to explore. What we saw was nice and most of not all sites were full hook up. There were no fire rings or picnic tables at sites. We were told under new management and would be arriving soon. Staff were all friendly and polite. We also stayed here on way home and had time to fish the large pond… requested fire ring and enjoyed nice fire. Would recommend this place to anyone needing clean and friendly campground right off I-75

      Lake Shelby Campground

Site #11 good tent spot, too far from restrooms

Site #11: nice shade tree, lots of roots exposed, set up tent on stone to avoid roots. Great space between the tent sites, but virtually no real privacy as public traffic into park was steady. awesome wildlife for a park within the city: herons, geese (except for poop), ducks, turtles, beavers. We didn't see the coons but put food away every night as they visited our camp on a nightly basis.

Long way to a newer bath house, port-a-john almost as far away in opposite direction. RV spots were really tight. Shelter with electrical outlet attached to bathhouse. Indoor and outdoor pool in the other half of the park. Kayak rental available. Host friendly and helpful. Bathhouse is four units, each with sink, toilet and shower. Could have been a lot cleaner. In our five day stay, no deep clean, but always had TP. Overall, enjoyed our stay, appreciated our Luggable Loo as a backup.

Nice area, County Fair while we were there, historic downtown. Several grocery stores, thrift stores and boutiques. Renaissance festival nearby.

      Northern Kentucky RV Park

New Name: Northern Kentucky RV Park

Search Northern Kentucky RV Park for the correct website. We only stayed one night and came in after the office closed, but we had a great experience in the time that we were there. The grounds are neat and taken care of and have plenty of shade. There's a nice playground. We didn't see any fire rings. And there was a bit of noise from highway and passing trains, but they weren't a big deal to us.

      Lake Shelby Campground

Not the worst place, but close...

First, the good: Lake Shelby was easy to find. The signs were easy to see and tent sites are well marked. The office, RV area and restrooms were easy to find and also well marked. The tent sites were shaded by nice trees and were located right next to the lake. The group tent sites looked nice and had shade and open areas. You can rent a paddle boat or canoe. However, there has to be an adult in the canoe for rental. There are several docks and a boat ramp. You have to pay to launch and there is an honor box for that. The campsite itself, was mostly flat and partially shaded. The fire pit was nice as well. Now, the bad: The lake was brown and had an oily film across the top. It smelled of dead fish and something else that I couldn't identify. I saw people fishing, but I never saw anyone actually catch anything. The tent sites were down a dead end road, however the amount of cars that went past our site made me feel like there was a parade that lasted almost the entire time we were there. The paddle boat lost steering when we were halfway around the lake. The only thing we could do was go in a circle. It took 20 minutes for them to send someone to assist us. There was a trash can next to our site, however, it was nearly full when we arrived and no one ever emptied it. The restrooms are located at the RV parking area, so we had to drive to use them. In my opinion, the restrooms should have been built in between the RV sites and tent sites to make them easier to access by walking. Overall, I didn't hate my time at Lake Shelby, but there was nothing great enough to make me return or recommend it to friends.

      Three Springs Campground

Nice things come in small packages !

My wife and I have been camping for years. We decided to come to Kentucky to visit the Ark and the Creation Museum. I found this little campground by joining The Dyrt. Three springs, was the best choice this summer. Very friendly staff and delivered my firewood next to the fire pit. Loaned me an electric cord extension and it was a delight to stay there.

      Three Springs Campground

Lots of trees and water, very calming

Park is nice with lots of trees and water. Small rental cabins surround the park. Owners are very nice and very helpful with tips and suggestions for the RV, and local eateries. We stayed one night on our way south from Indy. We wanted to visit The Ark and The Creation Museum, but cannot do both in one day. I deducted a star from overall and value rating only due to no direct sewer connection. Although they do have a dump station, I prefer to have a direct hook-up. Sites are pretty level, although we did have to unhook to keep truck from sticking out into road. SInce the park wasn't full, the owners let us park our truck in site next to us. We stayed in our 38' travel trailer with our Ford F250 truck.

    Guide to Versailles

    What to Do

Fishing opportunities: At Lake Shelby Campground, visitors can fish directly from multiple docks. "Big fan of Lake Shelby - they have a few RV spots, some nice camping by the lake, overflow camping by the river past the dam, and primitive camping in the back along the lake trail - those are my favorite spots! If you like to fish this is a spot you'll want to visit," notes a camper who frequently stays at the property.

Paddleboating: Rent paddleboats or canoes at Lake Shelby for exploring the water. "You can rent a paddle boat or canoe. However, there has to be an adult in the canoe for rental," advises one visitor who spent time on the water.

Hiking trails: HomeGrown HideAways offers private trails and creek exploration. "This place is amazing with lots of room to take walks and even a good, challenging mile or so hike," reports a family who recently stayed in the Yome accommodation.
