    Love it!

Very cute place. Quiet. Just hear the birds. They have fire pits. Pets are allowed. They have nice paved spots with water and electrical hookup. ( 30/50) Comes with picnic table and shelter. Has a charcoal swiveling grill, good size with a lid! Fishing. Boating. Shower/ bathroom on sight. Garbage cans close by. We will definitely be back with family and friends! Have long term campsites and short term. Go to recreation.gov for fast and easy sign in and go!

    Arrow Rock - Melvern Reservoir

    Quiet get away

Another great place in Kansas. We managed to book this place on the start of Labor Day Weekend because of a last minute cancellation and we were extremely lucky to get this place last minute. Overall everything was great EXCEPT the swim access on arrow rock. Most of the shoreline is jagged rock and without water shoes or crocs it’s not worth it. Water isn’t too bad but it is still pretty murky.

    Key highlights

Best RV spot is #25 - extremely shady Boat ramps are barely busy Great playground for kids Bathrooms/showers very clean Spacious lots

    Disappointed

We had high hopes for Whitehall Bay. But our trip was about as bumpy as the road was coming into the campground.

Our site was a group of three that were tightly grouped together in a full hook up area. This was our first time with full hook ups so that could have been the issue but we felt like we were right on top of our neighbors.

There is not a lot to do for kids which is unfortunate, the beach looked extremely steep, however we did not use it.

The area itself is very beautiful and the lake had a great rocky shoreline worth exploring. But that is about as much of the good things I can speak of when it comes to Whitehall Bay.

    Good travel stop

If you are traveling through and need a place to stop for the night, this is a nice little spot. Owners are friendly and helpful. Full hook ups, 50 and 30 amp, pull through and back in. Small campground with no public showers or bathrooms, no WiFi but good ATT cell service.

    Peaceful, great value, kind staff

We reserved only about an hour ahead on recreation.gov, upgrading our overnight plan considerably. With Dad's senior national park pass, site #3 (60' gravel for up to a 40' rig) (electric only) was only $8.50. As we were parking, the gentleman (Greg, we think?) caring for the park greeted us and on finding we had pre -registered, offered us an upgrade to a full hook up site (we could see only 2 other campers in the campground). Site 15 was a wonderful upgrade! Lots of wonderful birdlife here.

Note, bring your own soap to restrooms in many of the Core of Engineer campgrounds. For the amazing savings, its an easy enough change to make!

    Off season Free Camping

Stayed here off season for free. They do not close the gates so you can enter but no access to facilities, water or electric. Campground slopes to the river so very few level sites. Some noise from the road but otherwise peaceful as nobody was there.

    Small lots

They do have full hookups. The neighbors are nice. It is well kept up. The down side is there is constant noise from the grain elevators. Many trains that are noisy. Being beside Forbes field there are a few planes that are also noisy. Pricing by the month is very reasonable.

    Hidden gem

We camped in our RV at Turkey Point. The grounds are well-maintained, bathrooms were clean, hosts were friendly. No problems with water and electric hookups. Sites are well spaced, include fire rings, and almost all have shade. Gravel hiking trail, too. This was our very first trip in our brand new r v. It is only about an hour away from our house, but we will be back!

We Didn’t Even Give Kansas a Chance

On our road-trip to Utah, we dreaded having to camp in Kansas, until a friend recommended this spot. This stunning little lake is a free site with plenty of fire rings right next to a road. PERFECT car camping. And even has a clean little bathroom. Stunning views of rolling hills and cattle. Places to fish. A little trail that leads up a small hill. Stunning stunning stunning views of wildflowers and rolling hills. Great sunrise and sunset views! Phenomenal place to stop if you’re driving through Kansas. A bit of a detour from I-70, but totally worth it.

2 free days with amenities is hard to beat

I just got here and set up. Its a partly cloudy day high 78 and moderate wind for Kansas. I have only put my screen shelter up so far. Your by the road and a business so you will here them till they close later in the evening and traffic going by. Yet beautiful lake and lots of things to do. Free for 2 days with hook ups. Showers and toilets. But only one shower to share so do that during the day while its not occupied is my advice. Yes RVers their is a dump station. 10 bucks a night if you stay longer. Im gonna pay just because.

    Wilson State Fishing Lake

Minooka Campground at Lake Wilson, KS

Except for the fact that the water level at this lake is extremely low, our family and friends enjoy the friendliness of this hideaway. On the federal side of Lake Wilson it has decent shower houses, group camping areas, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We use this area to camp 3-4 times a season and always book early make sure we have several spots during peak times. Down side for the unorganized is that it's a 20 minute drive for supply's as well as 20 minutes to get boat in water due to most boat ramps being closed.

???Is it really closed for good??? Would make a great dispersed campground.

Herd this campground is closed even though I read it's 10$ a night no hook ups. Anyone knows different it would be nice to know. My son lives in Lebo and he said it's closed due to flooding a few years ago. Emailed the lake and COE and got no response.

    Kelley City Park

    Great little city park

This is the only park we could find. But it’s great. There are 45 RV sites here and about 8 I think have electric and water. A dump station is here too. The remaining sites are water only and are good for tent camping as well. Gravel and paved sites for water and electric. We had finished eating dinner and noticed a car sitting down the driveway so my dog and I circled around behind the car and discovered it was a police car. We spoke to the officer and he said they keep a close watch on the park because it’s safe and they want to keep it that way. Cost is $10 per night and there’s a registration drop box at the entrance.

    Chase State Fishing Lake

    Pleasant, Free, Crowded

I got here on a Friday night in late September and took the last available campsite. The site itself was very small, definitely not big enough for a trailer or RV, but fine for my Honda Civic. There was quite a bit of noise from a youth group out on the dock until 10:30pm. Good water access with the lake. Vault toilets were clean and convenient. Very little litter. No mosquitos, lots of creepy crawlers. Good road, no issues for a sedan. This place would be perfect if it weren’t for weekend noise and availability.

    Easy

Stayed here for a quick overnighter off season. Looks like this is state land with designated camp sites in season. I parked. Near the boat launch and had a quiet night. There is a pit toilet close.

    Decent stay over spot

The Jayhawker has well laid out spots and is off season friendly. Hosts are good honest people and will work with you around your schedule. Great place for a stopover or extended stay for work.

    Wonderful campground!

This campground has plenty of sites, and is great for both trailer campers and tent campers. The sites along the water are spacious, most offer shade and trees for hammocking, and water access is awesome! We heard owls, saw bats and fireflies, and had an INCREDIBLE view of the stars at night. Highly recommend!
