Access to South Fork Marina requires a walk-in or hike-in approach, and campers should know upfront that the site itself has significantly deteriorated. The campground, set near Rathbun Lake within the campgrounds just outside Rathbun Recreation Area, is now largely overgrown and no longer maintained as an established site. No pets are permitted. Cell service is available, and alcohol is allowed. Campers planning a trip to this part of Iowa should verify current conditions before committing, and may want to consider Rolling Cove as a nearby alternative with more reliable facilities.
