    Island Park - Rock Rapids

    Campground Currently Closed

Drove over tonight excited for my stay at this neat looking park. Unfortunately it appears that the June 2024 flood damaged the campground and it’s currently closed for repair.

    Mill Creek Park

    Nice lake

The campground is hard to get a spot at and is far away from the lake. The lake and grounds are well maintained. The showers are decent but take quarters to use them. Decent campground but not my favorite to go to in the area.

    Rivers Bend Campground

    Very nice campground

Decent size spots with lakefront views at just about all of them. There is a swimming hole with a little beach and walking/bike trail. They have tent sites that you have to walk to but they are right on the water away from all of the RV sites. The town of Rock Valley is small but very quaint. I'd reccomend the coffee shop Rooted. Will definitely be coming back here.

    Nice quiet campground

Very nice quiet campground. The sign says all sites are $15 but online it says you can rent camp in the grass for $5 so just write that on the slip when you pay. Has both bathrooms and showers

    Nice but high use

Found a site with no problem but clearly this is an RV focused campground. I did find a nice grassy area for my tent but my neighbors aren’t far. The river is nice and the walking trails are ok.

    Well maintained RV park

Only 4 stars due to neighbors leaving their dog outside barking constantly until they returned. Against park rules so maybe a one off. Water front on 80% of spots. Two fishing ponds & one swimming.

    Little Sioux Park Campground

    Above average county park

If half of a star was an option, I’d probably lean towards 3.5 stars.

I’d classify this as an above average county run park/campground. All sites are first come first serve. We arrived on a Saturday evening around 5:30pm and found a site no problem. There are two loops. One has electric only sites and the second has electric/water sites. One concrete pad ADA site.

Small beach area for swimming. Two playgrounds. Very nice field of wild comb flowers blooming near the shower house.

The shower house was less than than stellar. IMO it’s cleanliness kept this review from being considered near 4 stars. Usable bathrooms and shower stalls…yes, but definitely lacked attention.

    Hagge County Park

    Nice smaller campground

Hagge Park has only 15 sites available with full hookups, but it is a great, quieter place than most. Nice shaded areas. There are some primitive sites too. It also has 1 cabin for rent at a reasonable price. There are restrooms & showers, but we have never used them, so I can't review them. We love hiking the trails there & almost always observe fisherman along the river. There aren't a ton of trails, but what the ones there are beautiful & well maintained. You can get a great workout😉 We will go back!

Buena Vista County Park Sunrise Campground

    Kings Pointe Resort

This is a pretty awesome place. There is a lot of activities. The resort resides on Storm Lake and it’s usually pretty active. The first night we were there it actually had a very nice lightning storm.

The lake has a lot of perch, walleye, crappie and white bass. It’s not a very deep lake but has some pockets that you can find on the west side that does pretty good. There are boat ramps and parks all along the lake.

The resort is pretty huge it has an indoor and outdoor water park. The park slides are pretty fun and scary. There is also a lazy river!

The restaurant in the hotel is top notch. They served some of the best food. You won’t go hungry and the price wasn’t over priced like some resorts.

There is also a very nice large playground for kids to play on and a nice little beach to go swimming on. They clean the beach every morning but it gets pretty dirty towards the end of the day.

It doesn’t get very crowded during the week but on the weekend it picks up and a lot of people who aren’t staying at the resort show up to play in the water park.

As far as outside there are lots of trails to walk on. Tons of little parks around the lake to have picnics and town isn’t that far if you need to get coffee or groceries.

We had a wonderful view if lake from campsite. Camp ground was kept clean. I especially liked then number of bathroom/shower combos. I have been in campgrounds where shower wasn't as private as it could be. This was great and clean.

    Mill Creek Park

    Very family Friendly

Very modern campground with part time resident hosts.  Rangers are also available. 4 modern cabins and 48 sites with water, electric , cable tv. internet, and separate dump station. Snack bar and a nice sand beach on the premises.   A very  nice playground for the kids.  Small lake where boating is permitted but no gas motors.  Also nice for canoeing, kayaking or  fishing. Nice paths for hiking or biking. Only half mile to town where you can get anything you need

    Hillview County Rec Area

Great views in the Loess Hills of Iowa.

Deer Ridge campground is 1 of 3 campgrounds within Hillview Rec area. It is the most popular one of the 3, it has flat sites with access to shower house and running water and 30 amp hookups. There is plenty of hiking trails, a pond for fishing or swimming, an Elk herd, 2 picnic shelters, an outdoor learning center, horseshoe pit, sand volleyball court, 2 playgrounds, and plenty of grills and picnic spots and in the winter a tubing hill. They also have 2 cabins as well. As of 2019 they also added a 9 hole disc golf course as well.

    Rivers Bend Campground

Great campground with all the amenities

The campground is somewhat bare because the trees are small, but the lakes are wonderful for swimming, fishing, and beaching. About 1 mile out of town
